Got a call yesterday and 2 this morning from the same number. I answered yesterday and the guy was pretty calm. I NEVER talk to collectors though. He told me that he was calling on behalf of Crap1 and that if I was to make a payment plan, they could settle my account (claiming I owe $900) from $100-$300 less than that. I explained to him nicely, and calmly that I do not do business over the phone. He got kinda huffy and said, "so how are you gonna pay for this?" I told him, "have a good afternoon" and I hung up.

They called this morning, and I picked up and hung up my cell without answering. They called back 2 more times and I did the same thing.

This number called my cell phone and my home phone with the same grim message.  I didn't answer my cell because I was at work and they left a message on my home phone just before that. The caller was very abrubt.  Thing is, I did have a Capital One card several years ago and paid off the balance.  I, too, would like to know what I can do about these calls.  From the looks of the messages dating back to 2007 from this SAME number, it doesn't look like there's anything anyone can do.

They called and were rude to me.  I assured them that the debt they are attempting to collect is invalid and has already been rectified with company that supplied them with my information.  The gentlemen raised his voice to me and essentially told me that I was lying.  My response: did your dad beat you as a child?  He didn't like that so much.  Little did he know I work for a radio station and have it recorded.  It's pretty funny.

These people have been calling me sense January of this year, i have asked over seven times not to be called back and that there has been a mistake and I am not who they think I am. My advice for you all bring them to small claims court, these people need to be thought a lesson and need to stop violating the law.

I received a call from these people on my cell phone while at work.  I did not answer it because I did not recognize the phone number.  The caller left a voice message that was not even for me but for someone that I do not know.  I checked the number online without calling them back and I am glad that I did seeing that it may be a scam from the posts I have read.

Although it is true that negative info must be removed from your credit reports after 5-10 years (depending on state), It is your creditor has a right to demand payment on the debt until the debt is paid in full or settled.

    Confused
This guy, Benjamin called saying he's from 1st source and asking for someone with my name. I asked him what exactly is this company and all he says is he has my file infront of him. I asked for an explanation and he was completely rude. I told him unless he explains what he meant by that and i know i have no debt whatsoever, he better stop calling me before i look for where ever he is and kick his ass. Another idiot called me prior to that and i told them that if they continue calling during my class schedules or any other time, I will personally take pride in hunting them down. This is nonsense. The other number stopped calling though! lol

    Leave me alone!
called my personal cell phone asking for my mother 3 times in succession.  I am 25 and do not live at home/with her. The collector, Brian O 'Connor, I spoke with was nothing but blunt/rude and when asked what this is regarding, he simply stated a serious business matter.  He then asked if I could have my mother call him (because clearly I am her personal asst?)and I responded with a good chuckle and hung up.

Have been receiving cell calls from this number as well as others looking for someone named Brit Edwards. Most of the calls are from HSBC. Here's what I do. I store the phone numbers in my cell phone and assign a sound of 'silent'. I never hear the phone ring. I have also set my cell so that I have to push any key to answer the phone (as opposed to just flipping it open) - that way I can see who's calling before I answer it. Maybe this will help those of you are getting calls on their cell phone.

These companies (Firstsource Advantage, and NCO Financial) have called and harrassed me repeatedly over the 4 years I've lived in this house, looking for someone who apparently lived here before I did.  I checked with the phone company, which said the last people who lived here had a totally different number than I do, so Firstsource must look up my address and call the number, hoping the person who owes them money still lives here.  Several times I've reported them to the do-not-call-list officials, since my phone number is registered with them. The do-not-call people are  supposed to fine companies who call you without looking to see if your number's in the do-not-call database before bugging you.  Obviously, Firstsource/NCO Financial doesn't care if they get fined or not, because they won't stop bugging me.

    They are phishing for victims
I received my first call from what caller ID reported was FIRSTSOURCE ADV.  It was a male voice asking for a person who doesn't live here but has a similar name.  I'm now waiting for the series of nasty harassment calls that are described in the 800notes postings.  I've always paid my bills on time and have never defaulted on any loan.

If they try to fraudulently collect from me, a financial innocent, as seems to be the case for this new breed of criminal, they should know that I am a techie who is crazy with rage about these types of phone calls, and will respond, if they should threaten or pursue me.

They need to check out the phone numbers that they call better than they do.  Not everyone is sane or afraid of dying, and I won't be another victim.
