Got a call saying i have a pending civil case restraining order against me. I freak it scared me i didn't know what was going on and what made it worst they call my mother's phone and left a voice mail so she  freaked out. When i call  the number i couldn't get through a recorded came on and i press 2 and the phone just rung. I goggle the number and it sounds  fake. When someone is serving u a cop come to your house and u have sign a paper stating that u received it. All thAT other phone [***] is fake.

we got a message last friday with the same message that my husband was being sued that he had a complaint being filed against him he was a raspondent in a court action and with a order to show cause that held a restaing order and he had 24 to 48 hrs to reply.  we called it took me all day to get ahold of them he never got served any papers this is a scam if you get this message dont give any information they said that the place that was sueing us was a advance case loan network and we never had a loan that it was back in october 2010. i dont know what kind of a person would do this with christmas around the corner i have kids and to do something like this is so wrong. my husband said he thinks that whoever id doing this to any one that has been in jail that he thinks someone is hacking into the court information beacuse he was in jail before and people he works with that had this happen were in jail. i made the mistake of giving them my green dot card number but i just canceled it so they wont get anything from us if this number calls you just forget it or call the cops and try to get the son of [***] thats doing this caught and put behind bars where he belongs oh and the guy i talked to was names bryan or ryan walker!!

I got this call a few minutes ago. They used my middle and last name stating that I had a civil suit against me. Well when I looked on the caller id (thank God for it), the number is registered under Emma Chaney. Whomever it is, need to stop calling because it is a scam and you are served with legal papers, not a phone call.

i got the same thing and called it and the mail box was full.  my caller id said the same thing.  i dont' understand how they got this number and my name .  creeps.

Got same BS as everyone got. Called back option 2 says voice mail of person is full. Not going to call back. After reading all shared story, I knot it is BS. Thanks.

My father whom I have not lived with for 25yrs received the same type of phone call
stating that I had been named in a civil lawsuit and to call this number.  I ignored
it but then they actually left a VM on my office phone?  So, even though I thought it may
be a scam called the number anyways several times and so did my husband.  Now I keep repeatedly gettijg messages!

I have gotten the same calls as well, on my home, cell even my in-laws house!

I also got a call regarding civil action and to call 774-221-8770 case#dcmb-1092 to avoid a restraining order  aI also believed you had to be served papers definitely.

This tel. no. 774-221-8770 has been calling me everyday for the last 4 days and said it is a restraining order and that I have to settle this matter with my lawyer in 24-48 hours. When I called the number back, there is no answering machine to take my message or sometimes it would put you on hold for 20 minutes and then would turn to a busy signal. There is no live operator, only answering machine that says to leave a message but you get lost in the process because the line gets disconnected. It's going to drive someone crazy trying to figure out what have you done to deserve this prank call.

Got this call every week for the last month...everytime it says call within 24-48 hours to dispute restraining order....called the local police...they told me restraining orders are hand deleivered and you will be given date to dispute it...this is a crock of BS...just ignore...

Mary Hill - Restraining Order has been posted in your name. Someone will deliver you a "court Order" and you will have to appear before a judge. If you wish to speak to someone, press 1. If no one answers, press 2 (both - mailbox is full, after that on 2, they hung up.)
Did not mention a company - Caller Id showed "Emma Chaney" and the phone number.

Received message from Ema Chaney( as listed on my phone) states she is froma civil investigation unit.  There is supposedly a court action and must reply within 24-48 hours.  Tried calling back as the person they are talking about does not live here.  Only 3 choices when calling back and surprise, all mailboxes are full.  I am listed on the do not call registry and may try to file a complaint with them.

Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I received a call that stated it was from Emma Thompson on my caller ID, the 1-774-221-8770 number stating I had a restraining order against my bank account and a lawsuit had been filed against me to forward to my attorney and hold to receive a settlement offer.  I have no late payments or outstanding debt, so I was thrown for a loop until I looked the number up and found this information.  Thank you for posting.  I held on for someone to answer and no one ever answered and when I pushed 0 to leave a message, I got a busy tone.

My brother received the same call at his residence from caller ID "Emma Chaney" today with the same line...Claim/Affidavit filed against you...Restraining Order...Court Action...Must Appear...blah blah blah, looking for me. Initially I started to worry that there was some outstanding issue I was unaware of but then it dawned on me. A civil suit, or any other suit for that matter, is not filed or executed over the phone. It is hand delivered by an officer of the courts. I went ahead and jumped online to see if I was the only one plagued by this type of call. Low and behold we seem to have yet another form of hoax going around. As if we don't have enough to worry about or defend ourselves against these days. Nevertheless I am sure there may be some people out there who fall prey to this kind of scam and dole out money to these disgraces of humanity. They should be lined up and castrated in public so they can be an example to the rest of the worthless scum of society who may be plotting to take advantage of the less educated or more gullible. If I can be any assistance in exacting this justice upon the perpetrator(s), please let me know. I'm in!

I have received three messages from National Legal Corporation 774-221-8770.  Each time they say a civil suit has been filed against me and they leave a case number.  They state I have 24-48 hours to respond.  I have called the number several times.  Sometimes, I get a busy signal.  Sometimes, a recording.  Regardless, I have never been able to talk to someone.  I found this to be very stressful as I could not think of anything I had done wrong or why a suit would be filed against me.  I was relieved when I found this website and read other comments.  I am put at ease now believing this is a scam.  

I agree there should be a way to take action against this company.  I am to the point I don't even want to answer my phone anymore due to false advertisements and fraudulent scams.

Case number C640-1871. Restraining Order to Show Cause. The message stated I or my attorney needed to call the number back. The name was given was not mine. Funny thing, I received the exact same message, case number, and name back in November, but with a different number to call back, (617) 583-5720. At this point, I hope I never do get an "real official" call, as I get so many fake calls these days, I just don't answer my phone anymore. All calls are sent to voicemail or ignored, assuming all calls are fake. Only if I recognize the number will I pick up.
BTW, FCC No Call List is a complete failure and waste of tax payers money. Hey, Fed, cut that program if you aren't going to help us TAX PAYING CITIZENS!

sounds like scam, law enforcement do not hide behind  a phone, they knock on your door and serve you.......
