I just received this message also. We just had a death in the family and thought that one member of the family didn't want me to go to the funeral in a few days. Thank goodness I called first because then they would have had to put a restraining order out on me. The message was the same as everyone else. They called my youngest daughter's cell phone. She was quite upset as was I. I feel it is time we start really complaining to the FCC and get these calls stopped. When I looked up the company's name it was in another country. I am reporting this to my local tv stations and to the newspapers. Please do the same so someone else doesn't get so upset as my daughter and myself have.

I received a disturbing phone call stating that I have a restraining order whatsoever and gave me a case number to give to my attorney . It was very alarming hearing the whole message so I called back cuz I am anxious to know what it's about. It keeps telling me to wait for the next available representative , and when I pressed the other options it won't transfer my call. I decided to google the name of the company only to know it was a hoax . I realized it felt weird but hearing the voice on the other end makes you feel nervous. I hope someday there would be a law against this type of phone calls because from all the problems people have nowadays , this is a waste of anybody's time.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Is this a joke cause I got the same call I have never been in trouble with the law and wanted to fix this.

I received a very disturbing call from this number last night.  I have filed a full report with the local police.  They used very threatening verbage and asked for $1041. 42.  My husband and I researched this as well, no company exists.

Same story.  Telephone No. 774-221-8770.  Message about a restraining order left on my answering machine.  It's definitely a SCAM.

I received this call today. They contacted every land line associated to my address but never me directly. All messages stated that I needed to within 24-48 hours 774-221-8770. Said I had a civil court order and restraining order and provided case #RNBD-1627. I tried calling and all 3 options didn't work. Tried again later, option 2 was the only that worked then I sat waiting for 53 min on my way home from work for an agent to assist me. When pushing 0 to leave a message, you get a busy signal and then it disconnects. They bothered my entire family down here and now thanks to this hoax my family is asking me what the heck is going on. Wish I could answer because I don't even know. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. So glad these posts are here because now I can sleep tonight.

Got this call today after they harassed my elderly parents.  I was told I owed HSBC Household Orchard Bank over $1900 of unpaid credit card charges and that they were serving me papers.  I said I have never heard of Orchard Bank and that I do not have a credit card with them.  I asked for his name (Brian Walker) and preceded to call Orchard Bank as I was worried about identity theft.  No account in my name had been opened, no money owed.  This is a scam and these guys need to be stopped before they take someone's money.

This number keeps calling with all the same stuff that is reported on this site. I got an address form the guy Frank that answered the phone as 1 Devonshire Place suite 213 Boston Massachussetts 01150 but when I look it up it goes to luxury apartments??????? Maybe we should all send letters to this address and see if they like being bothered!!!!! Also I checked with the Secretary of States office and the county records office in Boston and Auburn Mass and there is no documentation of this company..Total Fraud!!!!!! But I am worried about how they got my info?????

We have received two phone calls from 774-221-8770 stating that one of our daughters has filed a civil complaint against us including a restraining order.  Unfortunately we have not had contact with her for over 4 years.  They provide a claim & affidavit #.  When you call the number above, there is no response but a repeated recording.  It is a scam. In any civil suit, you must be served.  Another way to get money from a scammer.  Last comment - the company doesn't exist.

SCAM call regarding court order.  Civil Investigation Unit from National Legal Corporation about a claim and affidavit # that our daughter has filed a suit against us (restraining order.   The number 774 221 8770 takes you no where. National Legal Corporation does not exist.

774-221-8770 called my gf and stated that there was a restraining order against her bank account. Whats fuuny about this is her number is under my name and it is a new number. first things first to anyone reading this, if they call you claiming to be a collections agency always tell them tosend you a letter addressed from the company that they claim to be and that the letter has to be on company letter head with the persons name that you are speaking with and there phone number with ext# the mailing address so that you will be able to either come talk to them in person or mail in the payment. If they get loud with you like they did with my gf it is a scam. Do not give them any information over the phone make them prove that they are who or whom they say they are. By ftc regulations when you the customer asks for a letter from the so called debt collector they have five business days to mail you the requested letter. If they fail to send you the requested information it is a scam. Report them to the better bbb right away and inform your lawyer and make copies or print up copies of your phone bill and seek legal advice.

automated message stating legal action against me including a restraining order.. stated i hade 24-48 hours to give info to my lawyer and respond.  i tried to call back6 xs and the call went straight to a mailbox that was full

Same phone #774/221-8770 National Legal Corp. Alburn Ma. reverse phone # says it is a landline. Called back "mailbox" full. Name on my answer machine Emma Chaney. Stating they had a restraining order on me.

Recieved same call today threatning civil lawsuit, contact an atty, etc, Called back, got two options, pressed #2 (owners mailbox full at this time and option #3 comes back with an illegal option. Scam!!!!!1

I also got a call regarding civil action and to call 774-221-8770 case#dcmb-1092 to avoid a restraining order.  I have documentation that shows I did in deed pay my account, I have the documentation to prove it. When I tried to explain my case he just kept talking over me so as to try and confuse me. I even told him it was a scam he assured me that it is not and legal action in coming soon! OMG!

My girlfriend received a message on her home phone.
The number was 774-221-8770, the automated message said that she has a law suit against here. She called that number and all she got was "your call is very important to us please hold on or press 0 to leave a message.I personally feel that this is the stupidest scam ever tried, I hope the bonehead(s) get caught and they get a real action of law thrown at them,
