- Linda| 84 repliesJust got a call from this number. They claimed to be from PNC bank. They wanted to question charges on my card. Original call a live person left a message. When I called back it was an automated machine. System repeated my cell phone number and then the last four digits of card. Then I got suspicious and hung up. I called my local pnc branch. They don't seem to think that this number is theirs------starting to think that this was a "fishing" scam

- Susan| 5 repliesReceived telephone call for son's card about confirming charges. He is away at college. He had tried to use his card but it was denied/blocked. He called the number. There was one unauthorized charge on his PNC account. So rep. said they would send another card to him. He didn't ask if the unauthorized charged would be credited back so I went to local PNC office to ask. When local rep. looked it up, the card was no longer blocked but no new card was ordered for him. The unauthorized charge was not credited back so the rep. did that and ordered a new card for him. I am thinking this might be a scam but how could they block access to the card and then it was lifted when I checked today. There was no unusual activity other than the one unauthorized charge.

- EricI just received an automated call from this number as well with my last 4 digits and my account is also blocked on the web. Thanks for the info above since I am calling PNC directly instead.
- Matt| 3 repliesI got a call and they left me a voice mail about my pnc debit visa card. They said there may have been fraudulent activity on my card and they left this number to return the call. I called it back, there was fraudulent activity, they cancelled my card and ordered me a new one. I called pnc bank to confirm that the above actions took place and it was not a scam. Pnc bank confirmed that the above action took place. I believe that the number is an outside contractor that pnc bank uses to handle fraudulent activity but it is not a scam.

- JAY| 6 repliesTOTAL SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I CAN PROVE IT.
WHEN I CALLED THEM BACK, THEY ASKED FOR MY FULL SSN. PNC BANK WILL NEVER ASK FOR A FULL SSN, ONLY THE LAST FOUR DIGITS. CALL PNC'S NUMBER AND THEY WILL CONFIRM THAT. 1-888-PNC-BANK.
ALSO, I GAVE PNC THE PHONE NUMBER, 1-800-225-5671 AND THEY SAID IT IS NOT ONE OF THEIR NUMBERS. THEY ALSO SAID THEY DO NOT USE OUTSIDE CONTRACTORS.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, CALL 1-888-PNC-BANK.

- JohnMy wife received a call from this number today. It was a recording saying they were calling about our PNC VISA card. We do not have a PNC VISA credit card, only a PNC Debit card that is VISA. I have called our local branch and reported the event and phone number to them. They will be pursuing it through their internal organization.

- Rita| 1 replyI got the same message yesterday and my debit card did indeed have fraudulent activity. I called the PNC bank number listed on their website and talked to the fraud department to get a new card and dispute the transactions. They said that number really is PNC Bank and is used to alert customers of potential fraud.

- unknownPNC SECURITY SCAM!! DO NOT CALL PNC.. GO in-person to the bank and tell them you got a phone call. IF you answer the phone or would like them to stop calling, tell them you know who they are and you have forwarded their information to the FBI! DO NOT confirm any information with them because they will only help them steal your identity!
- BoogerGot a voicemail from this number on August 2nd, 2012. Immediately called PNC's 1-888-PNC-BANK number and spoke with a rep. It was CONFIRMED a scam. They have been getting many calls lately regarding the same thing.

- Bryan| 7 repliesThis is not a scam. It really is PNC Bank calling you about suspicious activity on your debit card. PNC does a fantastic job of monitoring for fraud and I am very thankful that they do this. This number called me this morning because I had made some uncharacteristic charges on my card. They called to verify them in case my card had been lost or stolen. All is well. I am a loyal PNC customer and always will be. They take great care of their depositors!

- 911girl| 2 repliesReceived call this morning from this number - no message. Returned call and recording said there had been suspicious activity on my credit/debit card. Recorded voice confirmed my telephone number then asked for the last four digits of my credit/debit card. I hung up. Called PNC Bank and they say this is definitely a scam.

- pnc customerI received a call from 800 225 5671, asking for my last 4 digits of my card, I was suspicious that I hang up.
I tried to call PNC but they were closed for the holidays. The call was saying there is a mysterious charge against my card, so when I was at home I immediately open my account and could not see any mysterious charge. I called back the number that called me but only the recorded voice will answer. I will wait for the bank to open as they're close for the holidays and report this call to them.- Caller: 8002255671
- Bozzy| 2 repliesThis seems to be a legitimate call from PNC security. I received this call after spending an unusually large amount of money in one day while shopping online. I'm guessing this activity was flagged as suspicious, so I got this call to confirm it. They already had my name and last four digits, and only asked for my zip code to confirm my identity, NOT my ssn. I quite appreciate the fact that they were so quick to react to this in the event that there were actually bad charges.
Of course, if I find my account drained in a couple of days I will update this accordingly, but I don't expect that to happen.- Caller: PNC Bank
- PNC Customer| 3 repliesReceived a call frm this number about suspicious charges on my wife's debit card. Checked our online account with PNC and there were just under $1000 of charges from various online merchants we had never visited. Called this number and they said there was a new additional charge for a hotel in South Carolina. Caller from this number verified that these were not made by us, and gave my wife instructions to go to the branch bank the next day. They sent her a new card. This is a legitimate number. A week later, I got a call from a number that said it was PNC Bank, and my Visa credit card number had been being used by someone, so it is being d/c'd and they are sending me a different one. Weird that we would have 2 different card numbers stolen from us in such a short time period, but so far it hadn't cost us anything.
- Cris replies to PNC CustomerWe got a call from this number and my husband did call back and provided all the information. After realizing he may have been taken in by a scam, I called 1-888-PNC-BANK and verified the number WAS a valid number AND that all the account activity promised by the girl my husband called had indeed taken place on PNC side.
Its valid.
I understand the negativity and the naysayers - all I know is I'm thankful PNC is watching out for us and our account activity. - Steve-Dave| 1 replyCompletely Legit! It's PNC automated fraud response.
Said to call urgent information about PNC card...blah blah blah. Called back, asked to input number message was left, said my name on the card, then asked for the zip.
After that brought up all my account transactions in question.
All of which were legit as well.
They can't get any info from the last 4 digits of your card, a phone number, and zip. So it's pretty safe. A pizza place already has all that info on your receipts. - Steve-Dave| 2 repliesCompletely Legit! It's PNC automated fraud response.
