- Drew B| 3 repliesThis number is legit... what I'm wondering is if th illegit calls are scammers who are faking the caller ID to be this number. My advice... give them wrong information and see if they take it, or call PNC bank directly if you don't feel comfortable. I never had to provide my full SSN or card number. I did provide Bililng Zip, last four and DOB. BUT out of caution, I gave them wrong info on the SSN and DOB and she restated her respective question each time. She then verified a recent transaction on my account. A new card will be sent soon. If they were not honest, I will update this post accordingly.

- unknownReceived 2 calls today. Called PNC and I had an outof town charge which was not mine. I spoke to PNC bank and they cancelled my card. charge was from WAWA 21 in Philadelphia in the amount of $125.
- GMReceived this call claiming my PNC card had fraudulent activity. Sure enough I checked my account and saw some charges that were not mine. I called the number on the back of my PNC card and got it straightened out through their official lines. Be wary of similar calls but check your accounts just in case.
- Caller: PNC
- mlp| 4 repliesI called PNC. I have no card with the number given in the message. Furthermore, after searching all my accounts, they could find no security alerts on any of them. This is a scam.
- Mike B.This number is a scam, just verified with PNC. PNC or any real Bank will never call you and ask for specific info like your SS# or your account #............NEVER!
Now, when you call them on their legit phone number, they will indeed ask for info to verify who you are! That's OK!
Please set all alerts that you can on your accounts. My PNC will alert me if any charge over $25 is made, or multiple charges, charges from outside the US, so on and so on.
Beware this number : 800-225-5671 is a total SCAM! Do not believe other posts that says that it is real............IT IS A SCAM!!!!- Caller: Claims to be PNC
- DarkPhoenixDefinitely not legit. Just a new number scammers are using claiming to be "Verizon" and wanting you to log into your account via their website they give you on the recorded message to "claim your $341 dollar gift card" or something along those lines. DO NOT DO IT, IT'S A SCAM!
- Caller: Faux Verizon
- Insanekanifer| 2 repliesGot a call and it was an automated fraudulent checker from PNC. Did not ask for my full account number nor my ssn. Just wanted last 4 numbers and my billing zip, they went over my last 4 or 5 purchases, to which I confirmed them all. Its a legit pnc service that watches for fraudulent activity.

- JK| 1 replyI just received a call from this number. I didn't pick up or call back but checked the # on this website, then checked my account balance online at PNC.com. My balance was fine. I then called 888-PNC-BANK. I spoke to a rep and explained my concern about receiving a call from 800-225-5671. The rep said the number didn't seem familiar but she called the number while I was still on the line. The "suspicious" call WAS an automated call from PNC Security. PNC security joined the call with us and simply wanted to confirm an online charge that I made earlier in the day. PNC security explained that because my purchase was from a foreign company an automated call will automatically be triggered. If I would have called the number back I would have been connected to a live PNC rep. By the way I used my PNC Visa/debit card for the purchase. Thanks to all who have left comments regarding this phone number. You can never be too safe.

- Jean| 2 repliesThat number is not a scam, I called 1-888-PNC-BANK, went through the system and selected Identity Theft/Fraud. Once I got to someone, I mentioned the issue and 800-225-5671 number and he said that, that was PNC's security number. All the things the other guy said about cancelling my card and ordering a new one was instead true.
- Alfred| 1 replygot a call from 800-225-5671 and called 1-888-PNC-Bank and talked to the Theft/Fraud department and they checked the number and stated it is not one of there numbers
- A. Nony MouseThose of you claiming this number, legitimately used by PNC Bank's card fraud department, is a scam are victims of Caller ID spoofing. With the right equipment or web service anyone could call you with any number they want to display. Want to appear to be calling from the White House? No problem. Want the Caller ID to say PNC Bank 800-225-5671? No problem. Heck, they could call you and display YOUR name and number.
I got a call from this number this morning asking me to call regarding suspicious activity. I did not call the number they left I called the number on the back of my debit card. The call was legitimate. There were transactions made yesterday and today that have not shown up on the account yet that were not mine.- Caller: PNC Bank NA
- A. Nony Mouse replies to AlfredThat is simply not true.
- Rooster Cogburn| 1 replyThis is legitimate. No, they didn't ask for SSN. Automated verification of 3 charges. When you hit 2, it gives more information and it is quite detailed. So for instance, one charge was for $10 at a restaurant. Pressed 2, told me the Taco Bell and its franchise number, etc. Totally legit.

- Chase replies to Linda| 35 replies100% scam. I'm on the phone with PNC now. No question, a scam.
- DavidI reporting a call 800 225 5671 saying the call was urgent from PNC. I knew it was a scan.
I will report this to my bank, and if my account is tampered I will call my attorney.

- Jose| 1 replyThis is NOT a SCAM. They left me a voicemail saying there was fraudulent activity on my PNC Debit Card. Sure enough, someone wiped out the entire account in one fell swoop at a big box retailer. If you get a call from this number, call PNC!
- Caller: PNC
- MissyI have received six calls in a row from this number. It is a scam- they will ask for your full card number- DO NOT give them your information. I have reported this to PNC and suggest you do the same.
- Randy H| 1 replyTotally legit in my case. The initial message even introduces themselves as PNC security. They were challenging an internet purchase I really made that came through a Chinese debit card clearing house as well as two local restaurant purchases I also made in the same 24 hours. The machine asked for minimally risky information to authenticate me (last digits of card, phone number, zip code) and then prompted me to approve or deny the questionable charges. Exactly what I would hope my bank would do.

- janejust got a call from this number and answered it - they asked me to verify my info and asked me to input my billing zip code. something didn't feel right about it so i hung up and now i'm glad i did!

- Mike| 2 repliesThis is a legitimate number to PNC Bank. It is an automated system. Scammers can spoof the number and make it look like they are calling from this number on the caller ID that is where a lot of the confusing posts come from. But if you call the number back directly or the regular PNC number you will be fine. They can't change the way the phone company routes the phone number. Asking info like your zipcode is not sensitive personal data. It's essentially public knowledge. But they are calling you (again your number can't be rerouted easily) so they don't need to ask for much more information to confirm they are speaking the actual customer. If you call in to them from a number that is not listed as a home phone in their system they will ask for further verification (like the last 4 of your social security number etc). They have to because you didn't provide any information verifying yourself.
