- gryfalcoI received a text message from this number saying they had locked my card and to call them, funny thing is I don't have a pnc card or account, tell me this isn't a fishing scam it is totally one.
- gryfalcodo not call this number call the pnc 888 number I talked to them at pnc they said that if they do contact someone they will give the 888 number and a confirmation number so they can easily access the reason they called this is totally a scam and those saying it isn't as said early are they people trying to make you think this is a legitimate number.
- Seahawk12nd ☎ in 2 days. I don't know why it was automated and not real person. I'm calling local PNC in morning to verify.
- Caller: pnc

- way replies to Linda| 5 repliesIt's Legit..If PNC would list this number as a fraud number for them then this problem wouldn't persist..Automated is going to ask you for your last 4 of your account number and your zip code and will ask you to confirm your purchases on a certain date.
- RandyI got this call and called pnc loss prevention and they did have a question about some transactions i made earlier in the day. when i called pnc bank they didn't know anything about it. you need to have them forward you to their loss prevention department. one branch has no idea what the other is doing.

- RonThis is not a scam. I ordered a Macbook Pro online a few weeks ago, which was very expensive... much more than a normal purchase on my card. The next day I got a call from this number on the number tied to my account to confirm that it was a legit transaction.
When I called back, after I entered the last four digits of my credit card number (NOT THE FULL THING NOR ANY PART OF MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AT ALL), the automated voice read off a few recent transactions of mine and simply asked me to confirm that they were legitimate by pressing 1. It was accurate down to the dollar. If it was a phishing scam they would not have this information.
I ended up returning the Macbook Pro and ordering a different machine from Microsoft yesterday, and this morning I got another call from the same number doing the same process. Once again, without entering my full card number or any portion of my social security number, it knew exactly when my recent purchases were made, who the vendor was, and the amount down to the dollar.- Caller: PNC
- PNC CustomerThis number is PNC Bank's Fraud Monitoring Dept. Whenever there is usual activity or higher than normal volume of transactions the bank's computer that monitors that kind of activity flags the account and questions whether the activity could be because the card has been stolen. It's a great service the bank provides to try to insure that the customer is not being ripped off, and ultimately, if the card is found to be stolen, PNC can shut the card down to prevent additional theft. It can protect you from being wiped out. Always be cautious if you're asked for debit/credit card numbers or personal info. The way PNC asks for only the ending numbers of your card means that they are only confirming your identity.

- Anonym replies to Linda| 1 replyWent to PNC Bank branch in person. They told the the following regarding Phishing:
- All calls originating from PNC Bank will show up on your caller ID as "PNC Bank". Rarely, authorized vendors may call on behalf of PNC so a blocked number is not necessarily a disqualifier.
- PNC Bank automated services and live representatives will never use your card number to verify your identity. It is too easy to capture by Phishers and scammers.
- NEVER volunteer your SSN, birth date or mother's maiden name. You may be asked to confirm it is accurate when a representative provides it to you, but you will never be asked to provide it. Also, you are only ever asked to confirm that last 4 digits of your SSN, never the whole thing!!!!! If ASKED for any of this information by the system or representative, hang up, it is a scam.
If you feel that you are the target or victim of Phishing, the FIRST thing you should do is call your local police department and file a report. Then go online and file a report with the FTC:
- Online https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
- Call: 1-877-438-4338

- bangpowI just got the call and immediately called the number on the back of my PNC card and they confirmed that this number is, in fact, from their fraud department. The customer service gentleman on the phone put me on hold and checked with them. They also shot back the fact that I confirmed those last three purchases.
- Caller: PNC
- SMBI am a PNC customer, and the number called me and left a message while I was on the phone with them about a rejected purchase. It IS legitimate, but if you have doubts call the number listed on your Debit Card and ask why their Fraud Prevention woould be calling you.

- When jokers attackRecieved multiple automated calls from this number claiming to be PNC. I called PNC and talked to a live representative and they confirmed this number is a scam and not does not represent the company. Ignore any other posts on here saying the number is legit. Those people are either morons or in on the fix
- When jokers attack replies to Steve in Seattle| 1 replyYES YES YES it is! I called PNC and they confirmed its a scam
- TomI also called PNC Fraud dept. to see if this was their number and if they were who had called. The agent I talked to said NO it WAS NOT PNC, and that it probably WAS an attempt at gaining personal information (like recent transaction amounts) so an intruder could access your account. Do NOT give out any information in response to this very legitimate-sounding call. It is a phishing attempt.
- Caller: "800 Service"
- Carol replies to Steve in Seattle| 2 repliesNow I am really confused. I visited my PNC Bank today when I was at my wit's end about these calls. Three just today! They assured me that this is not their number. They advised that I not answer and not return the call.
- Jon replies to Alex Robertson| 1 replyYou must not know your facts then because I tried to make a purchase online and then it froze my account and once I called this number and verified the transaction I was able to start using my account again
- Jon replies to Carol| 1 replyits not a scam. Last night a tried to make a purchase online and it declined and ended up freezing my account. The number called me this morning and once I verified this was me making the purchase, I was able to start using my account again. I hope this helps
