I returned the missed call from the number out of curiosity. Someone answered immediately and said they were a Verizon Wireless rep. I didn't give them any information other than to tell them that I missed a call from the number. They knew the phone number I was calling from, my name, and the exact day my service contract currently ends. They were trying to get me to renew my contract early, essentially, and get a new phone now rather than waiting for my contract to be out. They also offered more minutes for the same price as my current plan for the duration of the remainer of my current contract. I said no thank you to everything and they said they would remove my number from the list for more Verizon offers. So lets see if they call me again tomorrow anyway...

Person said she was from Verizon Wireless and wanted to know if I wanted to go ahead and renew my contract that was coming due, and upgrade my phone at the same time.  Caught me off guard and convinced me that her deal was the best deal going, even on the internet.  She said the phone would be free after mail-in rebate.  I said I thought it was better to upgrade on-line since you didn't have to do a mail-in rebate and she said that was not the case.  Just got on the internet today, and after calling customer service realized she LIED to me.  I could have gotten the same exact phone for free WITHOUT the mail-in rebate.  Customer service said that they had no record of my conversation with her, but that maybe it just hadn't shown up yet.  I am pissed that I was lied to, and the customer service guy said that when the phone comes I can refuse it and I won't be charged.  I will be doing that on principle.  I see no sense in giving $50 to verizon for however long it takes them to mail me back my rebate money.

I just got a call from this number and this woman had an inner city accent that I thought was a joke. She read my address as 123 Main "Skreets" - I am serious! I already renewed my phone and contract 2 months ago. As soon as she wanted my last 4 digits of my SS# I told her no thanks I didn't need anything from Verizon.

After getting this number on my caller ID, I called it back. A female answered and when I asked who this number was she laughed and asked who I was. I said she called me and when I asked what company this was she said real fast "video . . ." I asked 3 times what she said and I could not understand her. She said she was a small company in Austin TX and they may have been trying to call another company when she got me by mistake. This is still happening!!!

This is simply sneaky. The "DO NOT CALL" list has been created because of an overwhelming outcry from the public. Your suggestion of "...than don't answer the phone" is not only confirmation that you are ignorant about the English language, and in denial of what is right and wrong. Go back to school, work hard and sacrifice, then see if you want to be bothered with less than honorable business practices.

Same thing here.  They call, I answer, they ask for me by name, I respond, and then the call is cut off. Happened about 6 times in the last week or so.
I logged into my verizonwireless account and sent them a nastygram that I'm tired of it and gave them the link to this blog so hopefully they will see how many people they're upsetting.
    Still...I doubt it's over.

So, basically, you are one of the idiots that are calling us. Wow. I can tell you are a very useful person by the way you write and communicate with others. It truly scares me that you actually have a job where you have to talk to people.

I have been harassed by at least 1 phone call a day from this number-on my land line phone...I have answered 4 times, and they say they are a telemarketing company hired by Verizon to get customers to upgrade wireless accounts.

I just got off the ohone with Verizon, who told me they couldn't stop it. The rep said that all she could do was make a note on my account, that it was already renewed. No guarantee that it would stop, and suggested I purchase call blocking for my land line phone to block the number,.

Receive calls from this number every day, multiple times a day.  Anybody know who this is?  (Hopefully not Verizon Wireless as I've already asked a rep and a supervisor to remove my number)

i received multiple calls from this number each day for the past couple of months.  i finally called it back and advised them (telemarketing firm calling on behalf of verizon) that if verizon would like to keep my business they should take me off this call list or i will take my business to another provider.  this is a good way for verizon to lose a lot of customers.

In reply to Rach: There is no possible way that you recieved a text message from this number, especially at 12:22 a.m.  The dialer is not even close to being set up for sending text messages; you're sadly mistaken.
