- gtI just started to get this call today. I never answer a call if I don't know who it is. I was forced to turn off my answering machine, because I got so many scam calls where they were filling up my answering machine with a dial tone, or else dead air. It is so aggrivating.
I have seen many calls where they just have the words Toll Free Call on the ID, they are from all different kinds of "companies". Every call I get that I suspect is a crap call, I look it up here, read about it, then I save the number as 'Jerk' and assign it a No Ring.
I can guarantee that even though my phone just rang and rang and never went to voice mail, I will be seeing this number on my caller ID for the next 3 weeks before they will finally give up. Some scammers call up to four times a day, every day, but once they've been programmed in my phone, I never know unless I look at the ID screen.
The first time someone calls that I don't know or has never called me before, my phone will ring a normal ring. I have instructed my children never to answer the phone if they hear a normal ring, because then it is most likely someone they do not need to be speaking with. Instead, I program all numbers in my phone, people I want to speak with, with a song ring tone, and my kids know they can answer those calls.- Caller: toll free call

- g replies to MargieI have been thinking about what you wrote. If they solicit someone who says they have cancer, whether they do or not, shouldn't they then say, "oh, I'm sorry", and then tell you how you can get some of this money they are soliciting others for?
If they called me I would say, "I have cancer and no one has ever given me any money to help me out, how do I get some of this money? " It would be interesting to hear what they then had to say, probably like, "oh, well this money goes only to cancer research, not to cancer patients directly",or something like that. Then they would most likely still hit you up for money, telling you that if you donate, then they can find a cure for your disease sooner. - mtlee| 1 replyNuisance caller...doesn't ring long enough to get to the phone; leaves no message.
- RobI got a call from this number, 800 390 4812 at 8;50 PM PST, a little late at night for me, and they did not leave a message, however I answered on the second ring. In reading the above, that it is a cancer charity, is interesting because at 8:09 PM I received a call from 313 203 8198 (Unknown Name), soliciting money for a Cancer Charity.. I don't know what is wrong with these people, because if and when I decide to donate to anyone I will go to the source directly, not if someone calls me on the phone and disturbs me late at night.. I go to bed early..
- bigskymikeRobo call no answer!!
Got calling numberfrom Caller I.D.
Called it back got an answering machine with a recorded "Pitch" to donate for cancer patients.
I left a message with my number and for them to "Take my phone number off your list"- Call type: Telemarketer
- CarolSNot sure what happened but the caller ID now says Cancer Fund on it so it sounds like enough complaints were filed and they now have to identify themselves.
Got a call from them yesterday and again today, even though I have told them several times to remove our name from their list. We live in Texas and I'm going to contact our AG, Gregg Abbott, and find out what can be done to stop these nuisance calls.
I come on here each time we receive the calls and make comments so I have a record of how much they have contacted us. Remember to document if you want to be able to prove your case ~ without it, it's just your word against theirs.
This is NOT a legitimate charity IMHO. They keep most of the money and only send a small percentage of your money to the cancer society. Why not just send it to your local cancer society so you know they are truly benefiting from what you donate?
I also do not give to United Way for the same reason... too much corruption in that company. When they were under investigation in Franklin Co, OH several years ago, their offices suddenly "went up in smoke"..... so the people who donated then had to replace all their computers, desk, chairs, etc.... highly suspicious but don't think they ever proved the cause on that one. I quit giving to them back in 1969 when they were still United Appeal because they listed me as a protester because I didn't "give my fair share". So ticked me off that a charity didn't appreciate what people donated, I swore they would never get another dime from me ~ and they haven't.
Avoid all "third parties" when donating... send directly to the charity of your choice and we can put pests like this company out of business..... and spread the word to your family and friends and let them know, too :) God bless America !!- Caller: Cancer Fund on caller ID

- Ron SiddellThe party or parties with this number call several times a day. My policy is not to answer calls that I don't recognize. However, this number is becoming extremely irritating.

- CarolS replies to BlueTosh| 1 replyA pledge card is solicitation for money :) They want you to say you will "pledge" to send in a certain amount and then they send you the card with that amount on it..... so they are pretty much lying when they say they are soliciting for money when they call.
Look through the posts on here and you will see where someone has posted a way to check on charities and how much they actually contribute of the money you send them. This company keeps like 85% of what you send so your charity gets hardly anything ~ so I recommend just sending directly to the charity of your choice so you know they are receiving the majority of the money for their cause, even if some of that money does have to go for expenses like electricity, phone, etc. If you send to this company, they have to pay those charges, too, but they also have to pay their very rude and crude employees before anything goes to the charity.
Also, one guy said to contact your phone company and see if they have what they call a "Do Not Disturb" feature for your phone. When your phone rings, it is answered with a message telling the caller to Push 1 if they want to speak to someone. Since most calls are computer generated and doesn't recognize that, the phone is disconnected from the call ~ you never hear the ring in your house because no one pushed 1.....
I received another call from them on Nov 17th and try to document my calls on here for future reference. I told the woman the other day that "I" pay for this phone and I have the right to say who calls and who doesn't and since I've asked them FOUR times now not to call. I would be contacting Attorney General Gregg Abbott here in Texas and turning them in for harassment.... she hung up on me. No apology, no "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, I'll see your number is removed". That is the third time they have hung up on me so why in the world would I want to PAY THEIR WAGES? They are Losers !! - CarolS replies to gt| 2 repliesI agree that the cancer society still keeps some of the money because they also have expenses to pay BUT, more of your money still goes to buy hospital beds, potty chairs and other items patients need. When my mother had cancer, the American Cancer Society in Cols, OH, supplied the bed and other items we needed at the house, along with a nurse who came in to check on her 3 times a week. I can't knock them and will gladly send them money after all they did to help us but I will not give to some third rate company like this one or United Way so they can send a measly 10 or 15% to the charity of my choice so they can line their pockets Personally I think UW and others like them are a big rip off but few people take time to investigate them before giving.
- fedupI knew it. I was enjoying peace and quiet since the AHA finally stopped calling me. Now this cancer group. When will it stop? this is MY phone and house. Why are these people allowed to disturb us?
- Caller: Cancer charity
- Wayne replies to J F LI also got 3 rings & than it stopped. I returned the call to get a voice mail that explains who the company is & what they do. The company is Cancer Support Services

- 800-390-4812Just got a call from them. I suspected from the background noise they were a boiler room so I simply said I was out of work. They hung up. I searched the internet and found some revealing info that leads me to NOT WANT TO GIVE $$ TO THEM OR TAKE THEIR CALLS AGAIN. I just blocked them (thank you, Uverse)

- me replies to mtleeFYI, calls that hang up after a couple of rings are usually those placed by people using an autodialer. It dials more than one number at a time. Whichever answer first goes through, the other calls they placed are hung up on and re-dialed later. Nice, huh?
- JETAMESI THOUGHT I WAS ON EVERY CALL LIST IN THE WORLD BUT THIS ONE IS A NEW ONE FOR ME.

- RogerI always quickly say "no" to solicitations of any kind. Usually I get the 2nd pitch (which annoys me), this caller hung up without any "OK, thanks" How RUDE... definitely assuages any notion of guilt I might have had for being abrupt. I have no tolerance for solicitation that happens to me at home (plus I'm broke). I'm on Do-Not-Call, but I know "charities" and "research polls" etc. are exempt, but they are hardly ever legit anyway so I wish Do Not Call was a "zero-tolerance" program.
