- rodacethis # called at 15 min to 9:PM on Sunday night - this is unreasonable and i thought it was illegal to solicit on weekends & before 8AM and 9PM. i don't give to phone solicitation.
- Christine SI made the mistake of contributing twice. When the calls started this time I told them I did not have time to talk with them to just mail me the card and I would contribute. They would have no part of that. They started calling me constantly. From 4 calls a day to 8. I finally answered and told them to leave me alone and stop harassing me. That did no good. I received 8 calls that day alone and 6 today so far. They simply won't stop. They will NEVER get a dime from me again.

cannot trace no. - BillBill,
I got a call from this number last night and one thing I've learned, if I don't recognize the number don't pick it up, thanks to caller ID on my TV. Secondly, I enter the number under Google search and "Walla", I find all this stuff out about a bunch of jerks using the phone to solicit money that may or may not be legit. I just love the internet................................NEXT!- Caller: Don'n know.
- PLEASE READ ME replies to CarolS| 1 replyGo ahead, turn them in, under the law they are legit. All it takes is to be registered as a non-profit and as long as 1% of the money goes to help a charity that is good enough for our Senators and Congressmen..
I used to work for organizations like this. The owners and the top managers make fantastic money, the people who do the calling usually make $8 to $10 an hour and have no idea that the average amount of money that makes it to the actual charity is between 1% - 12%. They are trained to read from a sheet and not stray from it. When asked questions they usually honestly don't know the truthful answer. For instance, if the company is structured so the charity the ACTUAL charity not the company that calls you is on paper paying for the cost of the office, the electricity, the phones and computers, as well as the wages of the callers, that 1% - 12% can easily be legally stated as 80% of the money goes to the cause. The reason the rules are so lacks? Attorney Generals for the state these people are calling from are either pressured into allowing this or in the case of Minnesota, years ago when Mr. Hatch was the Attorney General showed my bosses how to make it "look better" to the public by using these tricks of accounting.
I worked for a company called Safety Awareness, We called for the Mn State Patrol Troopers Association, and called for the troopers in Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Wyoming (I'm probably forgotten some states, it's been a few years ago now) each state we called has a slightly different name for their State Patrol's Troopers (not all State Policemen are Troopers) but the one thing they all have in common? Their Troopers Association agreed to allow us to call for them to raise money. When a person gets called and donates, and nearly 30% of calls result in a donation, that persons name gets put in the Chief of Police association call list. So now you receive a call from "them". If you donate to them, (and 80% do because it is no longer a cold call, we now know you are a person who donates) your number now goes to the Peace and Police Benevolent Fund, if you donate to this, your number gets passed on to the Vietnam Veteran's fund. And whether or not you donate to this it doesn't matter because now it is time to call you again for the State Patrol's Trooper Association. and guess what? It is less than 6 months since we called you last, but we'll say "Mrs. Jones it is Rob from the troopers association, you know the State Troopers? Yeah it is that time of year again...."
So if anyone, and I mean anyone claiming to be from any organization calls to ask you for a donation, no matter how legit they sound, including for Women's Breast Cancer, The Firefighters, Diabetes for blind deaf and tiny children (cause sympathy is OUR friend) tell them if you want to donate you will take your money down to the local firefighter, police station, cancer foundation etc. YOURSELF (if they are good salespersons that is not going to be good enough they will tell you some excuse why that is fine but...)
But above all this, don't waste your time trying to "turn these people in" it is all legal. Disgusting, slimy, and a complete rip-off but perfectly legal. Instead if you and all of your fellow upset recipients of these calls would call your Representatives and tell them to stop the 301 c Charities who donate less than 50% of their net to the actual cause from calling, this crap would no longer happen and millions of dollars that were intended to go to charities would actually make it to the charity.
As long as I'm bursting bubbles, also complain about the Better Business Bureau, yes I said about not to. The BBB is a FOR PROFIT Business, they do not operate like 99% of you think! The phrase "I'm going to turn you into the BBB" was the biggest joke we ever heard as telemarketers. It means nothing except that after so many complaints the BBB would call us and tell us "we've had complaints, but we can help, if you would join the BBB for just $150/month you would be listed as a BBB approved business". "No? Okay then we have to give you a bad rating"... "What does that mean? Well your name goes on a list"... "No we don't take people to court".... "No we don't help people take you to court"... "No we can't issue fines".... "No, we aren't non-profit." "Well we can mediate a discussion between a business and a disgruntled consumer though.".... "No, it would not be a legally binding settlement" The BBB sells companies the privilege of being on their good list, look into the amount of money the BBB takes in! And who is on the board of your local BBB? Look into it! It will not be a neutral party, but rather a local Businessperson.
That is All for Today.. - Misinformed replies to CarolSI sympathize with you, but unfortunately you have no merit for harassment or any other form of a lawsuit. These so called charities are protected by the law. You can ask them to take you off their list, there is no law saying they have to and even if they do the predictive dialer will call you the next time they start over from the point they started at unless they take the time to feed in the DNC list. Many "charities" do actually remove your number from the calling base as it is actually can be more productive to not call people on the list The law reads that businesses that you have done business with by law have to remove you from their calling list if you so request it. The laws do not address charities, political calls or surveys when it comes to requests to be removed from the calling list. As far as harassment, even if it did apply the requirement to be considered harassing phone calls is to cause one's phone to ring repeatedly with the intention of harassment. All of the federal laws pertaining to harassment have the requirement of intent in them. If you can prove they called with the sole intent to harass you, then they could be found guilty of a Class B misdemeanor and be fined up to $1000 OR imprisoned for 90 days. Unfortunately causing your phone to ring every hour with the intent to request money for a charity, is not grounds for harassment. (I said ring, not a conversation) we all need to call our Representatives and request stricter enforcement of the existing laws, (enforcement is pathetic at best) and a revamp of the codes to include charities, surveys, and political calls for requests to be removed from ALL CALLS. But until we ALL do so, it will remain just as it is. Pathetic
- DUH replies to AnonymousSee this here is the problem, you think you know what you are talking about because you don't know the legality of Company, Harassment etc. and yet you feel comfortable doling out advice to others? Did you not bother to read the words PRERECORDED messages? First let me explain, These organizations are exempt from the National and State Do Not Call lists, but as explained in your little privacy right section "However, as previously discussed, even charities and companies that you have business dealings with must include an opt-out mechanism on prerecorded calls." That is P-R-E-R-E-C-O-R-D-E-D C-A-L-L-S Again prerecorded calls ok? Was this a prerecorded call for anyone else? It sure wasn't for me! A live person was there... And your failure to bother to read the page you linked simply astounds me. You do bother to search for the material and then what happened? Did you read into it what you wish it said? Or did someone else pass this along to you? YES PEOPLE, READ THE PAGE! Then call your Representatives and complain it is not strong enough and is too vague. Tell them what you want in a DNC list! The same thing we all want! A list we can sign up for that literally means NO CHARITY, NO SURVEYS, NO POLITICS, NO ONE CALLS that you specifically have not done business with! PERIOD! If these so called charities go broke then hallelujah because 95% are not legit anyway! And yes this is why the laws do not include these organizations, they whined they would lose donations, the Survey companies stated they would go out of business, and just guess why political calls are exempt?!?!? So take a proactive approach to this [***] and stop half assing it! People this is my point, you all come here and claim you are suing, claim harassment, claim the Do Not Call lists mean you can request a charity never call you again, but you are wasting your time and everyone else's time, so take the same amount of effort and call your Representatives and tell them this crap has got to stop. Call them every chance you get! The more calls they receive the more likely things will change!!
- BORN YESTERDAY? replies to ROOSEVELT WALKERYeah, this is a very common phenomenon, it happens tens of thousands of times a day! For your benefit I will explain it one more time... The machine that actually dials the number is set to hang up under many different scenarios. If the system is set to ring 4 times it means ring 4 times on it's end which often means 3 times on your end. If you answer and no one who is sitting on the phone bank is ready to take a call i.e. they are all on other calls, it will hang up. If there is silence on the other end, it might hang up, if it heres certain tones it will hang up, if it glitches it will hang up. These things have worked this way for well over 20 years, the information has been on the internet since the 1990's so coming here and making this statement is time you could have better spent calling your Representative and complaining about the weak legislation that allows the majority of the calls we all hate to keep calling us!
- HOW MANY TIMES DID YOU POST THIS CRAP replies to CarolS| 2 repliesYou should be ashamed of yourself. Find my reply to the last time you wrote this crap! The law DOES NOT APPLY TO CHARITIES, POLITICAL CALLS OR SURVEYS, as is stated in the link you provide, the OPT-OUT rules for these calls is for PRERECORDED MESSAGES not a live person! READ THE INFORMATION!!! And do not take out of it what you wish it said, but rather what it actually says because that is what these companies do, surprisingly they don't follow CarolS's wishes but rather the actual laws that apply to them!
- DID YOU FILE A COMPLAINT? replies to CarolSSo Carol, you've been doling out bad advice on here for months, now you stated you are going to file a complaint... Then you disappear? Surprise surprise, one of two things happened, either you didn't even file, or you tried to file and were told what you thought you knew was completely wrong because you read it wrong! Either way you are a typical gutless whiner. If you found out you were wrong you should have come back and apologized to everyone you sent to the link. If you just chickened out you should have kept it to yourself to begin with. Look people, it is legal for these people to call you like it or not they have the law on their side because our Do Not Call list system was designed very weakly and exempted most of the calls from being included. Who did get blocked? Window, Siding and Roof calls mostly. So-called Charities, Surveys, and Political calls are still all exempt. Think you know different? Read the law. The only one of these you actually can force to not call you anymore is the Survey if it originated from business you did with a company. So call your Representatives and tell them to Represent the people not the organizations who lobbied against a true do not call list!

- Jennife BadgleyI have received repeated phone calls from this number. I asked them to stop calling and they hung up. That prompted me to call them back - it is a complete scam! When you call the number it directs to what sounds like a young woman's voicemail that states "Hey guys it's Jasmine sorry I couldn't get to my phone. Just leave your name and whatever message you have for me and I'll I'll get back to you. Thanks a bunch!"
