- gene k replies to DeThey got into our account for someone elses bill that they wanted to collect. They did it by getting our at the time unused debit card. Our bank didn't know how they did it. The bank got our money back.

- Senior77| 2 repliesThis is Direct TV. I am a senior that has only social security. I could not continue with my contract and had to cancel with about 8 months to go on a 2 yr contract. I have never been late on payment but came into a health problem and could not continue and asked them to waive the cancellation fee. They would not and have been harassing me constantly. Obviously, the fee of $180. is more important than helping. I do not have funds to pay this now they can go fish.

- MarkSI get these calls from DirecTV, they never leave a message when I let the answering machine screen it. I am a customer, more or less happy with my service, always auto-pay the bills on time. This happens to me every 4 years or so, I call them up and tell them to be put on a "don't call list" no calls from them with upgrade offers, no calls from their contractors. They do, and the calls stop. But every now and then the whole system seems to reset. I suppose some VP or dept manager just has to push it and try to get his/her marketing bonus.

- Happy Customer| 1 replyGot a welcome call from this number. It was my Direct TV instaler who showed up on time and did a great job installing my equipment. I love the service and value of direct TV!!
Also, when I was comparing Direct TV to other cable companies like Charter, I noticed that Charter for instance had a lot of confusing fine print and hidden extras in the fine print that cost a lot. With Dicret TV the price was the price, period. No extras unless I added them myself after they explained to me how much they would cost.
I am VERY HAPPY with Direct TV (and I do not work for them =)- Caller: Direct TV
- Anonym replies to Senior77I think the correct phrase is "Go pound sand"
- Rob| 2 repliesDirect TV- Calling to Welcome me to Direct TV. Im not annoyed by this call since I GAVE THEM THIS #! Guys, you dont want people calling you but you freely give out your main #....what gives? What did you think they would do with your phone #? Send it mail? Get a Google Voice account...free... when you sign up for things that you dont feel you would need/want to get called about (Like your cable, internet, etc??) give them the Google Voice #...you can get #'s in your area so they dont get all weird about it. I cannot speak for anyone who needs to give a 'real' # for services such as DSL or Telephone but if its something like Direct TV, cable etc, using a Google Voice phone # is plausible and keeps your main personal # from being called by these people. You can also get another Google Voice # when you are irritated enough by those calling your current one...=)
Frankly I understand where the companies are coming from aside from harassment, but when you give out your phone # do you really expect NOT to be called?
BTW- Love my Direct TV...- Caller: Direct TV
- Dave replies to RobWell, since DirecTV requires a phone hookup for much of their service its not exactly like one has a choice is it? Really not a problem, and they usually honor their internal Do Not Call list, after all, it would be really stupid to lose a paying customer because you bug them too much.
In my case, they "gave" me free showtime, I knew this because I got snail mail and use the web site. When they called I asked to be put on the internal do-not-call list which they gladly did.
They were calling to see if I liked my little free gift so much that I would order it. The answer is NO ... Netflix is a much better entertainment value than those outdated Movie channels. - AaThomDon't have Direct-TV. Keep getting calls from this number. Sounds like dispatcher leaving messages for a service tech.

- Diane| 1 replyThey have been calling me every day now for about a week. I had them for about 4 months and I wanted to order a movie from them. The rep (home based, I think) told me my system could not support a movie that I would need another dish. I did end up watching the movie that evening...I didn't need a new dish. They still sent out a tech to upgrade me...he said I was fine and didn't need it. Also, I went through the process of doing the rebate thing, twice!
I later called about my bill questioning why it was so high. They said my rebates had expired...that I did not turn them in. BS!! I did everything I was supposed to. The rep told me she would then activate the rebate starting on the day that I spoke with her. Later some [***] called to say, "sorry, it's too late."
Needless to say, I canceled, sent the equipment back and now they want me to pay over 300.00 for breaking the contract!!! They also told me that I agreed to let them take it out of my account during sign up if I canceled the contract.
Funny, most of the people I have talked to said they were ripped off with the rebate issue also. I HEARD ON THE RADIO A FEW DAYS AGO THAT DTV HAD THE WORST RATINGS AND COMPLAINTS WHEN IT CAME TO CUSTOMER SERVICE ACCORDING TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.
Go figure.- Caller: 800-531-5000
- Diane replies to JessicaGood luck...you will probably get screwed like I and many others have.
- Billy CarterCalling to see if I liked the mini-giraffe commercial.
- MichelleIt's Directv. I just resubscribed to them and they called twice today w/o leaving a message. I just called them and they didn't know why I got the calls (unless it was related to the issue yesterday with my HD local channels that disappeared and then came back last night). The woman I spoke to apologized for the calls as she didn't see anything in my account about why I might've received the calls.

- LeneI received a phone call from this number. When I answered nobody said a word and I just hung up, You hear horror stories of scammers so wondered who the hell it is!
- Caller: Unknown
- JaneLene, Many companies have robo dialers dialing up ahead of their agents. The computer can usually tell from the cadence of the voice or the way a call is answered if there is a real person there ... like you just say "hello" or if your answering machine gets it. This may be called predictive dialing or some other algorithm.
They may not wish to leave a message and if there are not enough agents available the call will get dumped in any case.
Usually this isn't something to worry about.- Caller: DirecTV
- annoyed with DTVWe cancelled them after a representative got very rude with us - 11 months left in our contract too - ouch! It was our 3rd rude contact with them! AWFUL! We had no problems up until June of this year - switched back to dish - I don't really care for either but so far dish is good....and cheaper.....I don't care what channels I don't have now - I have what I watch......
