- BAThe owner of this number is listed as Digital Satellite Service, owner of Direct TV out of Atlanta. I am on the DNC list as well but since I have AT&T phone and internet services, they technically have the right to call me. However I have told AT&T many times that I don't want Direct TV so it IS illegal for them to call me. It does no good to complain so I have them blocked. I also suspect that this is probably a phishing scheme from India rather than AT&T, especially since they don't identify themselves on CID and ask if you can hear them OK. NEVER say yes to this question.

- Not DTV but a Big Phish| 1 replyI've never had DirecTV, so I know this is a scam call. But the number is from Direct TV, so how could this not be legitimate? Because it's a phish scam call.
Scammers use a device that mimics DirecTV's number to trick you into thinking they are DirecTV, they ask for your Social Security Number and Date of Birth because they need to get into your account due to technical problems, but in reality you just got your identity stolen. I know it's a phish scam because I unfortunately had my number stolen thanks to a certain email carrier who had been seriously hacked, and this has followed the same pattern as "DirecTV" calls from this number every day even though I never have done business with DirecTV. The actual company would never call anyone who is on the Do Not Call Registry unless they do business with a client. These scammers will also try to phish scam you from your same prefix (the first three digits of your phone number after the area code) to fool you into thinking they're from your area while asking for some donation which is phony.
Now, if you do have DirecTV, it could be an actual legitimate call, but if they call you and ask you about your account or give you some stuff about your account being over drawn and they need your credit card, hang up and call them back, which will connect you with the real DirecTV who will probably tell you they never contacted you, which is true. By this point, report to them that you have been phish scammed from their own number.
Scammers can phish scam you from any number, your bank, your credit card company, even from your own home phone (creepy), but it's the scammers and not really your bank so you have to be careful when anyone calls you by not giving them your personal info when asked. Always call the company back before giving out any personal information.
And if someone calls you out of the blue, sounding angry, blaming you for calling them at 5am on a Sunday morning, and you obviously hadn't, calmly inform them that someone else must have phished them by using a device that mimicked your phone number. It's a real problem that will only get worse.
If you are expecting a service call from DirecTV or any company, you'll never be asked for your personal information when this number calls you, so you know it's legit. Just never give out your personal information when you receive a call from anyone and you'll be safe. And don't be fooled if they share with you some of your info and want you to then tell them the rest for "verification purposes" because you may have been the victim of an internet hack and these criminals are just calling you to try to gather the rest of your identity.- Caller: Phish

- RDespite numerous calls and requests, they keep calling and claim they are from the AT&T Des Plains office. Today I called spoke with the executive office at Direct TV. They have supposedly added my number to their list of numbers not to call. Their phone number is 210-281-4105. Work your way through the automation.

- TrevCalled three times today. Foreign sounding voice. Didn't answer first time. Second time they knew my name and address. I told them I didn't want additional services and hung up. Third time I said this is the third time you've called me today - is this a marketing call - he said have a nice day and hung up.

- KenWe got a call from this number today at 11:29 am. The caller ID was UNAVAILABLE, and it was blocked by our call blocker. Due to numerous such calls, all with this caller ID and/or with an area code of 800 are blocked. A call blocker is well worth the cost to avoid these nuisances.
- AlThey’ve called 12 times in 24 hours even after being asked to be removed from their call list.

- Direct TV customerI have gotten calls from Direct TV in the past and it always shows on my call id as Direct TV, and they have always left a message... Today I got a call from 800-531-5000.. it showed as unavailable, and when I get that I don't answer.. if they can't tell me who is calling I won't answer.. also Direct TV has always left me a message in the past, this number left no message.. there are lots of spoof numbers out there and a lot of lowlifes who would rather steal someone else's money instead of going out to work for it...
- Jessicacalled me today...pretty sure it is a scammer using the direct tv # thinking they can fool someone
- KimGot 12 calls from this number this morning - when I finally decided to pick up and find out what was going on, a man asked for my husband by name and said AT&T was reducing our monthly DirecTV bill because we always pay on time. Then he asked me how much we are paying per month - I said if you were from DirecTV you would already know how much we are paying. Then he hung up. SCAM?
