Well I think I have it worst than any of you on this post. I too had got a call from 800-572-5848 (Adam) saying they were some National Union Fire Insurance Co. affiliated with Wachovia Bank and offering a million dollar policy. I asked to receive info on it and I did along with a gas voucher. I didn't feel like I needed it and just threw it away. Little did I know if you don't tell them you don't want it in 30 dys. a charge of $24.90 is automatically debited from your account every month. They activated me an account and been taking money since Jan. 2010 and I had no idea since I hardly ever look at my statements. I called several times and even wrote their corporate office about this and closing my account. They lied and said it was handled and later more money was taken. These people are running a scam!!! I never signed with them but they were allowed to take money straight from my account. Now I'm out of almost $200!!!! So PLEASE DON'T TELL THEM ANY INFO or you'll be sorry.......I may not ever see that money refunded back intoy account cause now I'm just getting the run around.

I frequently travel internationally on business. One year ago I set up a small account with Wells Fargo, which they required, to allow me to exchange foreign currency from my travels, back into US dollars - at no cost. I recently received an "Insufficient Funds Notice"  that the account was $80 in the red.  When I checked it out at a WF branch, I found that there were a series of withdrawals to pay for insurance from NUF HPP INSR (National Union Fire Insurance Company) at the 800-572-5848 number and others from MONUMENTAL INS at 800-254-6196.
I have a folder to keep all the info I receive in the mail from WF and it includes several written appeals from WF VP's to apply for all kinds of Vehicle Accident, personal Accident, Dismemberment, etc. insurance. I never signed nor returned any of their appeal forms, but yet I got enrolled for the "first few months free" insurance policies - so it must have been done over the phone wiith some member of my household, or perhaps even me, who thought at the time it sounded like a good deal.

Today I paid WF their IFN "blood money" and closed the account - and also called the insurance companies and cancelled the "policies".  The "banker" at the WF branch denied - with a straight face -  that they have outside insurance companies solicit business from their bank customers.

If you read the fine print on some of the WF appeals, you will see that WF set up a separate agency - Wells Fargo Insurance, Inc. - which receives compensation (a "kick back") from these insurance companies for any insurance the latter sells to WF customers.  What a sweet deal!

I did not get a call but my bank statement is telling me that I have been paying them 24.90 twice a month since Oct. I called the number and get no where. I called Wells Fargo last week and they put a  stop on the withdrawls.....only today I checked my bank statement and yes, I have been charged agian.  I wonder what part of "I did not authorize this payment or stop taking this money out of my account they do not understand.

I didn't even receive a call from these people. Nor did I receive any sort of mailing from them or anything. They just automatically started charging my account. I've lost so much money because of them before I noticed it was happening. Now they've overdrawn my account right before I had a recurring payment, so I have 2 overdraft charges. The only reason I know it's from this number is because it says the number on my billing information on the WF site.

    This is bull.

Has anyone gotten their money back? those who never accepted the policy have you been refunded? Also has anyone requested their recording of "supposedly" accepting this policy? I'm requesting mine I'm wondering If I'll ever get this proof which I never did accept. I filed a claim with wells fargo and I only got three months refunded and I called the main place and they said I could only be refunded for two months. What Else can I do?

I went to the bank and changed my account #.  Why do they act like they don't know whats going on.  This company is making money for them with the overdrafts.  I think this is a con job.  Maybe the Attorney General of Florida should be made aware of this practice.  They also told me they could only go back 3 months for repayment of the money they swindled.

I called 1-800-572-5848 as this was the number provided from the bank when I called to inquire about some unexplained monthly deductions from a senior citizen's checking account. This phone number is for the National Union Fire Insurance Company, and the CSR who answered the call didn't seem surprised that I (and the senior citizen) had no idea what the company was nor did the CSR seem surprised when I asked for a full refund on behalf of the senior citizen who was duped into providing personal information. I asked that the policy be cancelled effective immediately and requested a refund of the four months of premium that were drafted from the senior's checking account as well as a letter stating that the account was cancelled and a refund in the amount of $99.60 was to be issued. I was told that there was no procedure for mailing out a cancellation letter and no letter would be sent, which further supports that this company is not operating ethically. Further, I asked if a policy was mailed to the senior citizen to which the CSR replied there had been, but no policy or paper documents were ever received by the senior. It should be noted that the senior is on a very limited budget and she was unaware of the account withdrawals which caused her to bounce a check and receive subsequent insufficient funds fees. I will be filing an official complaint regarding this company as soon as possible. Also, just for your reference, this was the address info I was provided by the CSR: NUFIC, Program Administration, P.O. Box 44260, Jacksonville, FL 32231.

On my bank account it didn't even list a phone number, just the12/16/10  Phone Authorized Pmt Nuf Ipp Ins 800  and the  $19.90   deduction every month for 4 months. finally this month after getting no where with US Bank about it, I googled it, along with the payment amount and found this site along with..YES..the phone number to call them.  I spoke very calmly and rationally to Tiffany, I even let her tell me there were other payment options and then told her no, please unenroll me.  Like the other poster I got the confirmation # which was most likely her initials and the date from the look of it and i am crossing my fingers to never see the deduction on my account again.  The above posts say wells fargo but I have US Bank so it isn't bank specific but if anyone else has this charge just give them a call at 800-572-5848, they will ask you to spell your last name and give your zip code, then they will keep repeating how they "found your account" and that it covers hospitalization, etc, blah blah don't need crap. then ask why you want to cancel it, my response was "because you are taking 19.90 out of my bank account each month" then they will try to keep you roped in, be strong, say no and phoney confirmation number later they stop taking it out of your account.

Smart Student replies to Thankful for this site
I think I can sum everything up...
This is sort of a scam, I had three months of charges for something I never signed up for.  I never actually received anything in the mail, "the infamous packet" and if you don't have paperwork for insurance it's hard to file a claim.
This is what I did, call whoever your bank (Wells Fargo seems like the most populat choice) is and dispute the charges.  They should credit your account and stop charging you.  The company , National Union Fire Insurance or whatever you call them is partnerned with these banks which makes it easy for the banks to dispute these charges.
Because you never signed anything you should win the dispute; if everything doesn't go smoothly, then there's  a problem.
