This number calls repeatedly.  They never say anything, they just hang up after about 10 seconds.

A waste of our time and resources.

I received a call from this number 800-592-1160. This was a legitimate call from a department in American Express. There were calling to verify some information in their records.

So they just called out of the blue to verify some information? Or was there a reason for the call? What info did they want to verify? And how do you know it actually was AmEx?

It is not FRAUD.  I tried to add another bank account to my AMEX and the payment did not go through. This customer service number is the BILLING DEPARTMENT.  They informed me my routing number was not correct and I had to use my other banking account to pay the monthly bill.  The 800-592-1160 IS a VALID number.

800-592-1160 It is a VALID Amex customer service number.  I just called them to resolve a payment issue with adding a new bank account and they did not have the correct numbers that I put in.  I had to use my other bank account to pay my monthly bill.  I check on my online account and the payment was made because I told the to add 5 dollars more to the bill payment.

Continuous calls, threats, abuse, I record all calls.
Don't answer anything I don't know..

Amex confirmed it's their collections department. They must use the phonebook because they had correct last name but first name was totally wrong, never lived here.

Ha since I put my number on do not call the volume of calls has tripled....they can't do anything . It should be called " do not do anything list" it's just a new list for scammers

Left voicemail claiming to be Amex. When I called back they immediately asked for my credit card and social security numbers. Scammers.

I have had several missed calls from this number. I still believe it to be some type of scam.  I do not have, never have had, never applied for an AmEx.  On top of that they are calling my work number.  I will continue to avoid it.

Female real voice called looking for "Brian" which was reported on another site as the name used. Caller ID listed the number not a company name.

They claim to be American Express, however they are NOT. The number they have been calling has nothing to do with my Corporate Am Ex Card.  I work for a large Fortune 500 Company for the past 15 years, and we have a dedicated Am Ex team that supports our company. My business # and business email is the ONLY information Am Ex has ever had the past 15 years. I CALLED AM EX DIRECTLY TODAY, and they confirmed this number is a FRAUD!

THIS IS LEGIT. I called the number on the back of my card, and the rep told me that it is a legit AMEX number from credit services. He transferred me to that department, and the lady looked over my account. She said there was no fraudulent activity or missed payments, this number is just an "automated call" number that was for some reason linked to my landline, and it should not have been, so she took my number off of the list. She did NOT ask for my social security number, only asked to verify the year I was born. If you are unsure of a number, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS call the number on the back of your card first to validate any suspicions! Again, this IS A LEGIT AMEX NUMBER.

Doesn't mean ANYTHING as ANY number can be spoofed. So what if it's a 'legit' number? If they were to call me guess what? It wouldn't be a legit call as I am not WITH AMEX!

Just 10 seconds ago, a message came over the answering machine, American Express has an important matter to discuss, call back at 1-800-592-1160.  I am unaware of anyone living here with an American Express account.  More than likely, a scam.

Keep getting calls from Amex 2 or 3 times a day.  They use 3 different numbers.  Today they even asked if this was the right # for my son.  I told them I no longer have the card and to not call anymore.  Pretty bad customer service when the keep bothering you so often.  They can send the same info in the mail if needed.
