- Anais replies to Agitated AnnieI had the same issue but I was smart enough to stay on the phone. The lady asked to verify the number the autodialer was calling which I did. I haven't received a call since.
- MaryWells Fargo Bank does not call it's customers at 9 pm. or any other time to remind them it is "time to make a payment" and have your account number ready! I don't have a mortgage, not a debt with Wells Fargo. I told the idiot (foreign accent) that this is not how Wells Fargo does business. Been a customer for over 25 years, never had this problem before. BEWARE! I reported the number to Wells Fargo Fraud line.

- Jennifer MendezOMG, this is not a scam. Yes it’s one of Wells Fargo’s numbers for the mortgage line. If you call it back you will see it’s their number. I love the part from one person claiming they don’t have a mortgage with Wells Fargo but then goes on to say they have a “Home Equity” line. Really? What do they think is a “Home Equity” if not a mortgage? It’s an auto call because you are late on your payment. Yes you probably have some sort of mortgage or “home equity” account with them or they wouldn’t be calling you and most likely you are late on your payment. Even though you are allowed to make a payment by the 15th or 16th of the month and avoid a late fee, you are technically still late since the payment is due on the 1st of the month. You also have until the 31st day to make a payment and not have it reported to your credit as late, but that doesn’t change the facts. FYI just because you have a mortgage and it says someone else as the lender on your closing docs doesn’t mean Wells Fargo didn’t buy the loan or isn’t administering the loan. If you are 100% sure you don’t have any forms of mortgage, home equity line, 2nd mortgage any other account where Wells Fargo Mortgage would be contacting you, I suggest you immediately pull your credit report and verify that because assuming it’s a scam call when it’s not is stupid and can set you up to become a victim of identity theft. If you want to keep your head in the sand then be my guest and remain in denial that either you have a mortgage on a home and you are late on the payment or someone has possibly stolen your identity and opened up a HOL or 2nd mortgage and they are destroying your credit while you have your head in the sand. For the “Wells Fargo” employee who claims this is a scam caller, stop spreading falsehoods since you have no idea what you are talking about. Just because you don’t know every 800 number Wells Fargo has doesn’t mean it isn’t valid. It is and to prove it all you have to do is manually call the number back and the line tells you thanks for calling Wells Fargo with the music they play on all their lines. It asks for your account number or SSN simply because how else are they going to pull up your account without that info? You can get a rep on the phone but they will tell you the same thing. They can’t pull up an account without the primary borrowers SSN or account number. Not hard to understand that. If you call any bank or credit card company or even a utility company they need some sort of identification otherwise they can’t pull it up, not because it’s a scam. Think with that thing on your shoulders and if all else fails and you don’t know if it’s a scam, then pull your credit file and check it. It’s free every year or you can pull it up on places like creditkarma or similar sites for free. You can also pull it up on MyFICO which is the oldest & only valid company for pulling your credit score. All the others are scam scores. Yes they cost money but nothing in life is free. You either pay for it or the company trying to gain your business is. Either way someone pays. It’s a good idea to monitor your report every year anyways and if someone can’t determine that this is a valid Wells Fargo mortgage number, then it would be a good idea to monitor your credit file more then once a year.

- MikeHuntleton replies to JackThere are 20 pages here telling about both legit and scam calls, so what are you trying to reassure people about?
Perhaps it was "legitimate" for you, but not for everyone. You can't expect to reassure people their call will be legitimate when its common knowledge that scammers spoof banking numbers in an attempt to gain your personal info and clean out your account.
Never trust a caller to be who they claim, always call from an official number to verify if they did.
