I recently have been getting calls from this number several times a day in a row of three or four rings. There is no message left and the caller ID reflect the number as a TOLL FREE Call. I have yet to make it to the phone to answer it before it hangs up or I am not at home.  Very annoying. My number is on the Do Not Call List and is unlisted as well as NON Pub.

Just received this call, I am on VoiP. By the time the call connected, all I got were the last 3 numbers of the postal code and then they hang up. No idea who it is or why they are calling. I get this call several times a week and has been ongoing for months. This is a business line for a small independent business that they keep calling. A little annoying and frustrating.

Recording asking for JL Smith. If this is a wrong number push o to be removed from call list. I did but the recording wanted last 4 digit s of s.s. number so I hung up. Claim from Wells Fargo I don't deal with that co.

These scammers just actually left a note( not in an envelope or on letterhead) between my glass door and wood door. I called Wells Fargo and reported the fraudulent activity.

I've had 9 calls from them in the last week.  I blocked the number on my phone, but they still keep calling.  They have never left a message either.

Just found the "note on the door" on our front door.

So...why would they pay someone to drive around leaving notes on people's doors, instead of just sending a REAL mail notice with all the appropriate information? Not calling them and throwing the note away. This REEKS of scam or phishing.

Any debt collection tactic that looks illegal or thought of as a scam is covered under the Dood Frank Act's Unfair, Deceptive, Abusive Acts, Practices (UDAAP) and under "In Person Contact" and illegally used within mortgage loans / loan servicing / mortgage serving rights see http://files.consumerfinance.gov/f/201512_cfp ... nsumer-debt.pdf. Wells Fargo outsources these illegal activities to various financial services providers.

I don't blame you I like Wells Fargo but sometimes you get reps that are so green at help its not even funny!

My phone never rings but I just suddenly have a voice mail.  They never say who they are.  It just they are attempting to collect some sort of debt.

I just had a person pull up in my driveway handed me an envelope that said confidential open it up and there was a piece of paper with this number on it saying call your mortgage company. The guy who dropped it off was in street clothes and only thing he would say is call your mortgage company. We had one of these hanging on our mailbox about six months ago very similar with no description other than call your mortgage company. We do have a mortgage with Wells Fargo and the last time we called the number on the statement and they said we are fine it must be a scam.

I am getting calls from 800-678-7986 almost  4-5 times a day for last 3 weeks.
I am really tired and annoyed with this. I have no account what so ever with wells fargo.
God please help me stop this annoying calls.

I received a letter with this number stating it was and urgent notice to contact my morgage service immedietly at 800.678.7986 .
1. My name was not the paper
2. Does not have any letter head from wells fargo
3. date was hand written
4. plain white paper NO envelope
5. just left at door step was not mailed
6. does not look legit looks odd like something i can type and print

Called Wells Fargo to investigate they did not have me with them or any information of me in their system no, info of my property , no reason why i woudl receive a letter . That is odd. Be Aware of letter and call scams

This is a scam. I called WF at number on official website. They did not call. If someone says it's not a scam - they may be the company employees of numbers like this

why cant you pay on the 1st? people all have different situations and you signed a contract when you got the loan to pay by the 1st. wells fargo did not come to you to give you a loan. you came to wells fargo asking for money to buy a house now when its time to pay you debt you say leave me alone? just tell them when you're going to pay and how and the calls will stop

Has nothing to do with paying your mortgage.  This is a sales call with WF trying to get you to use their other produces

Just received an envelope hanging from my door stating "Confidential" inside was a tiny piece of paper with the same info as listed above by other reporters..

Best part is I don't know a Mortgage company that will deliver anything that isn't this important without certified letter.. also this had to have been placed after 9pm last night on my door and before 6am this morning. So I'm calling total bs on this! Also my mortgage is up to date and always has been for the past 11 years.
