That would probably be true because that link is 11 years old.  You could have figured that out by reading the post where the posting years was 2010.

And that post was clearly made in 2008, so who knows what was on their website 13 years ago?

For the past few weeks I have received calls from 800-678-7986 from a Kenny Williams who claims he is with Wells Fargo. He told me my loan was accepted and that I would have to start payments. Then he said I would have to go to a Walmart to send a moneygram. He has now called me 4 times. He has another buddy who is also a scammer. A woman named Susan.

I started getting calls from the 800# listed above but they don't leave a message.  I haven't answered or called back because my mortgage payments with WF are not past due.  Then the other day i was out at a restaurant getting ready to pay and i got a text saying they had frozen my account for recent debit card declines and to click on a link.  No i did not click on the link.  So i called the general WF number and was told that my debit card was not on hold, was active and so was my account.  It was just weird because i  did have a declined sale earlier that day for incorrect pin (fat fingers i guess) but then i put in the right pin and all was well.  Be diligent out there.  There's a scam everywhere you turn.

I had a missed call from them.  They left a message saying it was Wells Fargo Mortgage and anyone I call back can assist.  I googled the number and found this page.  When I go to the Wells Fargo site and use their search for the number it is mortgage refinancing which I had been looking into earlier this year.  When you enter the number on their site put the dashes in and it will show up.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to check the Wells Fargo website first? You know, since you had aleady been looking into refinancing your mortgage?

Yes, this number is on the Wells Fargo website and it is used by their Mortgage Department.
However, Scammers know this and will spoof this number so it appears in Caller ID when calling from an entirely different number so they can try to scam the person they called posing as Wells Fargo (as evidenced in the two posts that proceeded yours).
Just because a number may be connected to a company, it does not mean that seeing it on your phones Caller ID display guarantees you were called by that company.

Yeah, I too Googled the number and the WellsFargo website for Loan Modification was first in the list, along with other results showing it as their number. So why you came here to try reassuring people it is a legit number seems suspicious, when there are already 21 pages discussing it.
As mentioned numerous times, scammers often spoof bank numbers to try tricking scam victims into believing it is the bank calling.

There is a ton of bad information being offered up on this subject by people who are not qualified to make any informed statements that anyone should rely upon.

First and Foremost: Mortgage companies are REQUIRED by most of the government and private investors to perform a visual inspection of a property secured by one of the mortgages they provided funds for if the loan has become delinquent and or is chronically delinquent. This is a drive-up visual inspection to ensure that the property is not vacant and that it is being maintained. There are good reasons for this and I'll not list them here because you either get it or you don't. Common sense. The inspectors are almost always contract workers under a firm that does inspections for many lenders. They are REQUIRED to leave a written notice with the number of the mortgage company to call for 'an urgent matter'.

Could it be a scammer? Certainly..Call your mortgage company customer service and I promise you'll know promptly because if delinquent your call will go right to the collections department. Another way of knowing if it's a scam or not is 'Did you pay your mortgage'?. You know it you are late and would have received calls and letters before the inspection.

YOU PAY for this inspection. It will be added to the fees due and that fee can be anywhere from $100.00 to $500.00 EACH TIME. In some instances even more.

But HERE IS WHERE YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION if you are RENTING the house. That notice can be your first heads up that your landlord isn't paying the mortgage. Maybe it's a one time thing. Maybe it's a scam. But plenty of people have ignored these things only to find out 3 months later that landlord DIDNT pay the mortgage, the bank foreclosed and guess what: You get thrown out and likely will never see your deposit back either.

So don't rely on what these armchair 800 number posters put out there. FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON for yourself and don't assume your payment posted or the landlord is being truthful. Because when the bank takes the house, you are out on the street and have zero rights even if you paid your rent. The Bank DOES NOT CARE.

THIS is What's Up. Fair or not. Reality.

There is a ton of misinformation in your post because you are not qualified to make "informed statements" or in your case uninformed statements pretending to be telling the whole truth.
