This number and about 100 other numbers are HSBC's consumer whitelabel credit division.

You might not think that you have an account with HSBC, but if you have a revolving credit account with just about any major retailer in the U.S. you have an account with Household International, the parent company of HSB Consumer Credit.

Some Retailers that 'buy' their credit from HSBC:

And about 100 others, so no you might not directly know you have a credit account with HSBC, but you actually do!

Report them to who ever you want to, the only way to get rid of this predator is by paying off the debt and canceling the card, even then you won't be safe

It IS a scam.  I get this call 12 times a day, we do have credit cards but all are up to date.  Since they never leave a message.. I finally called their number back.   It's a message that says if you called about an account number that ended with certain numbers press 1... if not enter your account number.   Yeah right...like I would enter my credit card number without knowing who I'm giving it to.  Beware of this..

I have been on the phone with these people for an hour now and they have confirmed I do NOT have any account that the represent.  They call my house at least 10 times a day. What I am being told now..as I wait on hold again...is that they random look for people that live in your area with the last name of someone who is a card holder.  To see if they can locate the actual person. This should be illegal.  They call from morning til not and they dont even know if they are calling the correct person?  I have had my number for 15 years. They have now said they removed my number from their list.  What a waste of LIFE this has been!

Exactly. I just got this new phone and new number and i get these random calls all the time. The voice goes "we have an important call for you, then there is a small noise, and it cuts you off.

HSBC just continues to call us constantly, just because we were late one time with our payment, which I usually do online, but could not get into the website to do the payment. They start calling as early as 8:00am and keep it up until 9:00pm. And they also use at least two different numbers to call from, one being 800-395-2274 and the other being 800-684-8429, and they do not leave any messages. I have tried to take my phone number off of the account but it does not let you.

Hey there all of you.  I finally got it to stop.  Email the following to any of these companies calling repeatedly.  Just keep it nice to them and humble and they will quite calling you repeatedly.  It worked for me.  Quoting the law sort of helps.

While I understand that you have the right and need to collect a debt,
and that I am behind on my payment, with the last payment being made in
the amount of $200 in November. I hearby request that by the Fair Debt
Collection practices under the section 806 number 5 to stop the repeated
calling 15 times a day. Where I understand your concern, calling 15
times a day will not change my financial situation. If you must
continue to call please do so in a non harrasing manner and only call
1-2 times a day not 15.

If these preditors are having people just sit and harrasse people then they are helpping out the economy with giving these people jobs. I would like to let them know though that we are on the government do not call list and I am keeping records of all the numbers we are getting and who from and time of day and dates. So do your jobs good. The more the better because the gov. just is getting started.

wouldn't it be nice to just be able to say "STOP CALLING!" OK I just did. Anyway, I guess this is the 'sister' number for HSBC- another number they call from is 1-800-684-8249 - two numbers reversed.

Someone calls from this number and goes huhhhhhhhhh (like letting out a breath) on the answering machine. Weird

calls all the time. I have put the number on my cell phone block list
but they persist calling. It is very anoying. I have my number on a list DO NOT CALL so I have problems understanding the calls. Have no credit card overdues either.

This is getting ridiculous.  They call 20 times a day.
They got my work number, somehow, and now they are calling me there.
I don't take these calls.

I know I owe money.  I also know I don't have the money right now.  I will call them with I AM READY!
I sick of these companies.  They shouldn't be allowed to harass people.  Regular folks would be put in jail.  Screw them.

this number calls me up to 25 times a day. they just called me 4 times within 5 minutes. when I answer there is no one on the other end of the line. I was out of town for a while and my sister told them that EVERY SINGLE TIME they called. they would just hang up on her. they are so rude.

Keeps calling me constantly~

they call about 4 to 6 times a day.  They do not leave a msg and they don't answer when I pick up and say hello.  Really annoying.  Wish you could do something about this.

They are looking for "Rusty McCleary" ? I've already told them twice today that they had the wrong number but they keep calling. I got 4 total calls today from 2 different numbers. This is the 5th collector trying to get a hold of this "Rusty" person. Anyway, I found the executive office number:

I also called the 800-395-2274 number back, as well as the 800-684-8429 number, and got yet another number for the executive office: 800-753-6529. I hope you all can put these numbers to good use UNLESS you aren't paying your own bills! If you aren't then sorry but you're getting what you deserve.

They are harrasing  my teenage daughter. She is too young to have a credit card

Funny thing about this number is it's not even my voice line they are calling.  You would think after getting a fax tone in their ears (whatever) they would get the hint.

I think I will have to contact my AG (and they don't like me as it is :) )
