This is not a scam but call from Verizon Financial Services to make payment or payment arrangement when you are late

They may be calling because of an old account, your phone number used to belong to someone else, or someone has used your identity.  Call to be safe.

Got a call from this number today and came here to see what it was about.  If it is Verizon, I don't have an account with them and they are calling my 5 year old ATT wireless account.  I'd say the folks saying this is a scam are probably correct.  Also, I called the number and it said my call may be recorded and then hung up on me.

Receiving calls from this number, called VZW and it is a bogus collection agency trying to obtain info.  DO NOT give them ANY info.   800-751-0961.

The same thing just happened to me. And to the idiots on here that say that this is not a scam and to pay your bill you are incorrect. My husband is a deputy sheriff in the county where we live and this is most definitely a scam that is going on. They have gone to great lengths to make this look very real. Even the website looks very similar to Verizon's. I contacted Verizon myself to see what information they had pertaining to this matter and they said they have been dealing with this for about a year now. Unfortunately, it has had an unfortunate outcome for a lot of their customers.

Fraud. Got a txt claiming my Verizon account was past due and asking me to call 800 754 0961.  But the account is not past due.  "Phishing never sleeps".

This is a legit Verizon number.  Just call them and sort it out - worked for me since my credit card on file was expired and they could not automatically get their monthly money's.

My husband continually gets calls from 202-370-xxxx...the last four numbers continually get changed. They say we have an outstanding balance. First it was over $800. The other day it was over $1,000. I called verizon directly and since MY NAME IS ON THE ACCOUNT they advised they would not be contacting anyone other than me. My husband and my children are both on my account so since I am the account holder, I should/would be the only one receiving calls regarding my account. By the way, my account actually has a credit since I always "over pay" to ensure a zero balance.

2017/ 1/30 I have Comcast, and Verizon is harassing me to pay someone else's bill.

I got the same voicemail, Monica.  I called verizon at 1 (800) 922-0204 ( from googling their customer support #) and was told 800-754-0961 is indeed a verizon wireless financial services line.  However, unfortunately, I did this after making the following mistake:  my first call was to 800-754-0961, while listening to the prompts I logged into their website at the same time.  My computer was instantly hacked.  the number posted for assistance was 800-398-0832.  they are NOT verizon,but an independent company that sells malware.  Posing as tech support.

to all of You it is a scam. The ones on this post claiming its not are part of the scammers. I just called Verizon and they blocked the number from 6 of our phones

I received a call from 678-224-9096. They claimed to be Verizon financial services. They said I needed to call them about a change in the status of my account within the next 24 hours.  Told me to call 1-800-754-0961. Did not call them.

A guy call said that he was with Verizon.  He asked for my personal pin number. This would give him our personal information.  I don't think so, keep it moving buddy or you will hang up right in your ear.

Originally got the call from 608-713-7325. Did not answer and called back on another phone.  Identified as Verizon Wireless and the number was no longer valid.  Told to call this 800 number.  We do not have Verizon wireless - never did. Treating it as a phishing expedition.

Received same call, I KNOW we're up to date.
Always google weird calls like this...thank you all for your comments.
