- Mr B.This story revolves around the first time they called me, as I had forgotten all about Mr.David until now (because they called me again!).
A few months ago, and out of complete boredom, I signed up with Explore Talent, under the guise I might get an "extra" part in some random movie. I live in DC, and figured enough movies/tv shows were filmed there, it would be bound to happen...??
I too couldn't understand the gentleman when he called and left a message, although I'd place the accent as Canadian/Indian. I called the number back anyway, was connected to "David" quite quickly, as the secretary only knew of one CREATIVE DIRECTOR! David immediately jumped into his speech!
I don't know about the rest of everyones conversation with "creative director" person, but my David seemed fairly knowledgable and "on-it". I watch an absurd amount of movies, and consider myself well versed in terminology, cinema history, and an assortment of useless movie facts (actors, directors, producers, year movie was filmed, etc). So bottom line, "David" seemed to know what he was talking about, when pushed for more information. I come from a line of work/thinking, that I need precise/exact answers, not vague statements of nothingness!
It was after the initial shock and awe wore off that I realized...... I never activated my account..... nor did I post my out of state cell phone number! When pressed for how this information came about, David didn't really have an accurate answer, only that I must have entered it on the web site. To save countless hours arguing with him, I accepted his answer for now. As I pushed further it became extremely obvious that "David" hadn't seen my profile, because if he did he would have know where half my "acting" experience hailed from!
I'm currently a police detective, with over ten years of law enforcement experience both civilian and federal. I explained that I thought that would be a good "in", for work as a stand-in rando police officer, or military extra. David appears flustered and shocked, but continued his "A" game, with comments of admiration for what I do.
As I could see the butt kissing parade was about to take off, I quickly cut him off, and spelled it out for him.......
"I never uploaded a photo, you don;t know what I look like, I have no professional acting experience, and I'm surprised you haven't asked for money yet!"
There was a pause....... and I continued, "you do want money, right?" Because if you do, this conversation ends now. At which time it did, and that was that. The only reason I felt the need to post this, is because someone called again with an over the top "HEY! ! ! THIS IS EDDIE blank FROM HOLLYWOOD......etc etc etc". So scammers they may be, frankly I think it's piss poor management of an outside calling center hired to assist Explore Talent. I could be wrong, but as this one is so far out of my jurisdiction, I have to assume that anyone that actually lost money has since filed a police report with whoever their local law enforcement officials are.
Bottom line....... if you want a side job standing around on a street corner, pretending to look shocked, while a big blue screen hangs in the air.... a hundred times over for three hours.... go nuts! You don;t need an agency to do that for you, or pay them money. There are tons of web sites that allow you to find these positions.
Good luck everyone, and keep the reporting up. If these guys do anything specifically illegally, I'm sure they will be dealt with as appropriately.- Caller: none listed

- KatyaI had a message on my answering machine tonight from Shirley Peterson, heavy indian/british accent, said I came up for an audtion, but was very disappointed when I told her I couldn't pay due to saving for school. She kept repeating herself as if she were reading from a teleprompter. "You've been selected...and you have a short amount of time to take advantage of this offer..."
DON'T fall for it guys.
Get your profiles off the website and get hooked up to audtions through school and local theater.- Caller: Explore Talent

- JoJoWithout repeating everything, everyone else has just written...I will add that I am very disappointed with this phone call today at 4:00pm. The least we need on top of trying to get in to this industry is people getting our hopes up. What I want to know is...how did he know i ordered business cards thru ExploreTalent...very wierd. Anyhow same number...and I guess, same scam. Eddie Parker and his "boss" Jason, both looking for money. Thank you for this website.

- JDizzyOmg yes some dude named "john paul" with the weirdest mexican/german/indian accent called me today and said something about my "beautiful picture" on my profile from Explore Talent. I do have a profile, but its not on Explore Talent and I have no idea how he got my number. SO weird. He didnt say anything about money but i'm def not paying him dime. Freaking weirdddd.

- MichelleHad one person leave a message stating that he was Robert Davidson, Creative Director with Explore Talent then by the end of the message he was Robert Davis. I think he was trying to put on an english accent, but it was not legit- my husband is English and I know English accents. Not certain what nationality he was. His message said that he was looking at my profile & information on the Explore Talent website and that they have some great modeling and acting opportunities in my location( location wasn't specified) a I never applied for modeling at Explore Talent.. only Musician and acting.
Also had a voice call ( actual call) that my daughter picked up from Michael Johnson, who had a very thick Spanish sounding accent-- I was taken aback by the thick accent and his name being Michael Johnson, I thought it was bizarre so I decided to take a look and google the telephone number this Michael Johnson gave me to call 1 -800-763-8517.. The man who is supposedly Robert Davidson also left the same number to call back..
I find it bizarre that I would get 2 calls within 2 minutes from two different" Creative Directors" from the same company. I must say they are quite "Creative".. and that I will not be returning their call.- Caller: Explore Talent
- LamboA lady called me with a heavy accent claiming her name was Shirley Davison, I found it very odd to be her real name. She sounded more like a Juanita Rodriguez. lol. Anyways she called me from a (800)763-8517 Ext. 5002. and said that she is a creative director from explore talent. She claims that I would be a very good candidate for a photo shoot, modeling, commercial, movie.!?!??? Make up your mind which is it? I think it's a big scam so I didn't call back, but I might later just for fun. I wouldn't provide them with any personal information though. Look them up on the Better Business Bureau and see what comes up!

- K.D. replies to Officer Watson| 1 replyI also recieved multiple calls and voicemails from David Baxter as well as a Robert Davis who promised I would be sent 100 business cards with my pictures in order to give to casting directors, who I would come into contact with once I had given my credit card number to an unknown person on a supposed "secure line". They made no comment of payment until about 25 minutes into the very polite and somewhat overwhelming comments about my specific "looks" already being desired by multiple companies such as "Nike, Samsung, Adidas, Axe" (to name a few)who were "planning" for billboards, commercials, ads etc. that I should not waste time in order to be a part of. Not until I mentioned my card not working today (internal issues with my bank) did Mr. Robert Davis claim that if I hesitated to pay the installment amount, my profile may somehow expire or fall by the wayside where I would ultimately miss this "extraordinary opportunity"...Such actions can only bring about questions. Why would I be unable to call next week once I had thought about my approach and pay for the service then, instead of being threatened that I would lose my advantage in obtaining casting opportunities by companies that had already been explained to have "viewed my profile and requested my attendance"..? Just doesn't add up. IF I was already acknowledged to be "desired" by any one of these companies, wouldn't an employee or affiliated agent with that said company come into contact with me directly rather than waiting for a website to contact me first? Also, IF this is truly a 100% SCAM, is there any way whatsoever that we may all attribute to convicting them under fraudulent business claims, or ensure that this may never happen again? I beleive at any level of any legitimate company they would be pleased to hear that individuals are taking a stand on their behalf so that they are not negatively portrayed to our society in general.
- Justin| 2 repliesHi all, I am an actor doing some stuffs/ plays in Chicago,IL. Even I got a call from one of these people on one fine day, he told the same as they said even it wasn't so believable but i had confidence in that i could something from this so i singed up for 3 months but i have got some shows and films as well, this will really work but if you really have some talents in you.
I hope these people have no confidence or talent or may be not interested in getting in this industry. Explore talent Rocks!!- Caller: Explore Talent
- ACTING! replies to JustinHope you're better at acting than at making fake posts, scammer! Might help if you learned English while you're at it LOL.
- Justin replies to JustinHi all, it's Justin again, and I'd like to say that I enjoy indulging my Vaseline hobby and meeting muscular men. Did I forget to mention that my boyfriend operates a religious phone service out of Georgia?
- goldfireSo obviously I got this call or I would not be posting here. What irks me isn't the call or the fact that it's a scam - I signed up on Explore Talent as a joke sort of - but I can't delete my account! It says there's no need to do so because I'm not paying for it. And it won't let me change any of my personal information without calling some other 800 number.
- MariaA guy named "Ryan Watson" called, asked for my ex. Refused to give his email address -- just left the 1-800 number. I immediately Googled it, got this site. Thanks, guys!
"Ryan Watson" also sounded Indian, and there was the noise of a call center behind him. I've got no problem with Indians working in talent agencies. But I do have a problem with people giving fake names. I know, I know, it's a scam -- but giving a fake name on top of it just annoys me. Why oh why can't scammers be honest?
Ha ha ha.
-- Maria - Angry Mother replies to Officer WatsonJust today 11/10/2009 the number is back in service, as they called my son with the same info. This is a scam from Nigeria. This needs to be reported to the FBI. Someone needs to stop these criminals. How is it possible they can get away with this? They claim to be with Explore Talent and actually have talent number from the company and user id's from this company and use the name of Eric which is actually a Senior creative director for Explore and they claim they actually have the same title.
- UpsetchildYes this is definitely a scam, a bunch if hypocrite boaters calling you all the way from India pretending to be real life executive producers like David Baxter. The real David baxster doesn't have a boater Indian accent and is NOT even foreign !!! They are calling from a room full of a bunch of other hypocrites trying to rip people out of their money, you can hear the other "executive producers" in the background! Don't fall for this, it's a scam, all they want is ur money, and don't post up pics of Yourselves on their website bc they are a bunch of creeps !!!! They should be reported to the FBI, and yes the number that called was the same as everyone has already said ! 18007638517 ext 5505. It sounded fishy from the start ! I hope these creeps get caught soon!!

- Mad crazy replies to RachnaSounds like another Indian person who works for explore talent trying to defend themselves.. The jig is up.. Its a scam!!!
- Mad CrazyI have also received a harrassing phone call. I was all built up by this person named Ryan Watson who sounded like a woman. I could not really understand what he or she was saying because her accent was overboard. She kept telling me over and over the same thing she just told me. I was thinking this person must be slow. So I just listened. The she provided me with the 1-800-763-8517 ext. 5585 and she would be my personal agent and that she was a creative director. She went on about my profile.. the same thing.. saying that many casting directors have come upon my profile and were interested in a 25-30 yr old woman either Carribean or Latino. I am neither. Then she transferred me over to her Senior Director who requested to speak to me directly because of my profile and they really wanted me to get the part..?? I was asking what kind of movie it was but little details did he provide me with.. He said his name was Sean. He had a big heavy indian accent. He was buttering me up saying my profile pic was so gorgeous. Then He started up with the fees. I only signed up 3 months ago for a free account.. Thank God I didnt give them any money!! He asked me over and over how much money I could come up with at that moment. I felt I was being harrassed at the time. I kept telling him Ill give him money when I get my hand on some. Come On. DUh. Then he preceded to pressure and throw attitude towards me. So I said "look dude you called my home, SO you don't raise your voice to me. What kind of Senior Director has no customer service?" I said in a firm tone " If im gonna be pushed around Im gonna hang up on you" So hopefully this idiot doesnt call me again.. otherwise Im gonna take other actions like record the call or something..Ne ways Dont get scammed people.. Im sure glad I didnt give up any cash!! Dodged a big bullet..
