- JennyI received two calls from this number, one yesterday and one today. The first time it left a message telling me to call the number and then enter my card number. The second time it didn't leave a message. I've never had an AMEX card and I recently went through my credit record and found no record of a fraudulently opened account. They said my "account" number ended in 64002... anyone else get this same message? I think this is definitley a scam.

- PaulLegitimate call from American Express. They wanted to verify several on-line charge attempts. Good thing they did as they were all fraudulent! Someone must have gotten the card number while I was getting gas a at a convenience store. American Express does a great job of monitoring charges for fraud.
- Caller: American Express
- ChrisIt is possible for fraudsters to manipulate the caller ID so that it lists whatever number you want it to.
I received a call purportedly from this number tonight and was put on hold for over two minutes, so I hung up and called the AMEX number on the back of my card. It turns out that they were trying to call me and apologized for putting me on hold previously. - Really? replies to MA| 5 repliesI don't have a fed ex account and do not give my number out to businesses. What else could this be but a fraud? Further, I answered and they would not be coerced into speaking? Seedy to say the least.
- Ahh Hah!I've received several calls, but no message from this number - great to have the info from these posts to have a clue what it could be and a warning to be cautious.
- Caller: Maybe Am Ex, posible fraud..
- ccApparently it is legit although the guy who called me sounded fraudulent...

What should I do if I receive an Irregular Account Activity notification?
Contact the American Express Account Security Group at the toll-free number advised on your Fraud Alert message or at 1-800-824-9289 to verify charge activity on your account. If you are calling from outside of the United States, please call collect 336-393-1111 and ask to be transferred to the Account Security Group. - JenDLegit #. They called about fraud on my account. I asked to call them back on the number on my credit card and it was verified.

- KimGot a phone call supposedly from AMEX to alert me about a fraud to my card. Asked me to call another 800 number which I didn't write down. Since I don't have an American Express, this is clearly a SCAM. There are programs that FAKE the caller ID and although the phone number in your ID caller might look legitimate, mostly are fraudulent phone calls from Eastern Europe or China.
First, DON'T PANIC AND NEVER disclose your information to any of this phone calls. Call the 1-800 Number that is printed in the back of your card if you suspect fraudulent activity. You'll avoid 99% of the scams following this simple rule.- Caller: SCAM

Call the # on the back of your AMEX card or on your statement if you get a call or hang up from this #.- Caller: 800 Service (was Amex)
- DD| 1 replyThis number is a legitamate American Express Number. I was contacted by this number saying they were Amex Security Center and asked if I had my card in my possesion and if I had made a charge to a company called e-solutions for seventy dollars and 89 cents. I reported I did not recognize the name of the company & had not charged anything in 3 days and all that merchadise was already shipped and charged to my account. They immediately cancelled my card and sent out a new one. I checked my online account about 45 minutes after the call and it already reflected the new card number. I did call back AMEX using the number on the back of the card to verify & everything was confirmed. Even if you don't have an American Express card I would return the call to make sure no one is trying to open an account in your name. The only information they asked me was my address and phone number for verification. They NEVER asked my card number or my SS number.
- Caller: American Express
- ShannonI received a call from the number but did not answer. I checked here and then I called the number. It was AMEX Fraud Department wanting to make sure a charge trying to process was legitimate and not fraudulent. I appreciate their diligence, as we have had our card hijacked in the past.
- Caller: AMEX Fraud Department
- JimThis is a valid American Express Number. I called it after logging into my amex account where they told me to call them because of a potential fraudulent purchase.

https://search.americanexpress.com/app/answer ... 00%20824%209289 - NeuUgaGot a voice mail this morning from 800-824-9289. They said it was a call from Amex account security group calling " Tammy Dill?" about my open card ending in "41088."
1. My name is NOT Tammy Dill (I think that's what the automated voice said.) My name doesn't sound remotely like that.
2. None of our 3 Amex cards ends with "41088."
I wonder how they associated my phone # with that account and that name.
Even if it's legit, it makes me nervous that they mixed my phone # with a different name and account #.- Caller: American Express Security Group
- antpharm replies to Tony| 5 repliesI got the number in an email that there was fraud on my account. I called the number and was able to cancel my card. I then called the number on the back of my AMEX and verified what I had done had actually gone through.
This is a legit number! - LauraGot an email to call this number for possible fraudulent charges. Called Amex 's # on the back of the card and the info in the email was correct- there were fraudulent charges, so it does seem to be a legitimate #
- TomThis is a legitimate call from American Express fraud service; usually because they have a concern about an attempt to make a charge to your card.
