Nothing about this company is even the slightest bit legitimate .. from their RoboCaller harassment tactics .. right on down to their address and phone number [ the office and address do not exist ]

They are on a ' Fishing ' expedition ... hoping you'll give in and answer their calls if they harass you enough ... and if you do that you'll be ignorant enough to send them money at which point they'll have your account [ credit or checking ] number ... and then the fun really begins

Please people . Legitimate debt collectors MUST by law inform you first in writing of the debt owed [ actually the original company/entity  you owe money to must notify you in writing  before handing the debt over to a debt collector ]  .. and then MUST by law have only real human beings call ... leaving legitimate messages for the party in question [ not some fictitious or celebrity name ..  like singer/songwriter  Leon Russel ] as well as MUST by law continue to notify you in writing until the issue has been  resolved

So forget things like blocking their number [ they have several ] mailing them any request not to call letters [ if you do you've just given them your address to now harass you by mail as well ] etc

The ONLY tactic is to simply NOT answer their calls ... EVER !  .... as well as change your greeting to the standard one so they cannot get your name from your answering device to use if they do  leave a message .

Your remarks are well-intentioned but I must disagree in part. "Forget things like blocking their number..." Really? If you got as many calls as some of us do, your phone would be ringing virtually all day every day. And it doesn't matter if they have several numbers. With a call blocker, we can block single numbers, whole ranges or even entire area codes! I have many scammers' entire area codes blocked on mine. If my only tactic was simply to 'not answer' I would be driven insane by the incessant ringing of my phone.

This number is on my top-ten list of most-persistent and most-annoying numbers I have ever had the pleasure of blocking! It called my previous number for years, and when for various reasons I changed my telephone number, it is now calling my new number. Mind you, I owe no debts and am not the person they are looking for. BTW for those with call blockers, you must block the number they call from, ALSO UNDER 1-800. This so-called "company" is very knowledgeable as to how call blockers work, and they will keep ringing your phone if you don't block them both ways!!

This number, 800-900-1380 seems to call and then call again in less than five minutes.
So far I have not answered but I'm pretty fed up with them calling at all hours of the day/night.

Looks like a Cease and Desist letter is the only way you will stop the calls.

Appears to be this company.  They have an A+ rating with BBB but I don't understand why they are calling people with no problems with their credit.   Unless they are using some sort of shotgun approach, dialing numbers of people with a common name hoping to catch someone, anyone-- who'll pay the debt.

No, that's impatience with willful ignorance talking. Being realistic and being smug are two different things. If I wanted to be smug I'd wax on about my long record of frustrating illegal debt collectors without sharing any hints regarding how you might follow the same path. Mister "Debt Free" was complaining from a common misconception that only people in debt do or should hear from debt collectors. Runaway skip trace calls to non-debtors and wrong parties is arguably the most frequent annoyance created by the collection industry, and the calls are often illegal in some way.

Kneejerkers like "Debt Free" don't get their nuisance callers halted and are more likely to be sued for junk debt and lose, precisely because they can't get past their anger long enough to seriously study a problem and seek constructive countermeasures. People who insist on stupid and ineffectual responses to their problems need a rude awakening before they will change. Better they are shaken awake now than shaken down by a corrupt industry later.

Have been getting calls from 1-800-900-1380 for going on FIVE years! We are on the DNC registry & have been for almost 8 years, renewing every 2. Point is, I've had this number blocked for at least 4 years & they continue to call my house! They seem to call in waves. The calls will slow & stop for a while & then start again with a fierce barrage of endless calling. My phone rings once, but since it's a blocked number- only once. Still, four calls in a row is annoying & redundant. How can we stop them???

First off you have to understand that the DNC does not apply to a debt collector.  You need to send them a cease and desist letter (not e mail or fax, or verbal) by certified return receipt mail.  Penn Credit is located in Harrisburg, Pa at the following address:

    916 South 14th St.
    Harrisburg, PA 17104
    (800) 800-3328

Here is their contact page:  http://www.penncredit.com/contact.html

If you do owe medical debt or think you owe medical debt, then it would be wise to tell them to send you the initial letter and then dispute the debt so that they have to prove you owe it.

Read up on your rights here as well as make a complaint against this company: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

If you don't know what to put in the letter, they also have templates that you can download and adapt to your situation.
