- Verizon wireless user| 1 replyReceived a call on my cell from 1-800-922-0209. Caller said he was from Verizon Wireless. They are doing an upgrade to 5G service and my service would be slow during this time (so he said). Because of this I will be receiving a $50 credit on my next bill. He asked for my zip code to verify I was in the area being upgraded which I supplied. He then said he would send me a text msg for the $50 credit. He asked if I knew how to open the msg while I was on the line with him. When I asked why I needed to open the text now instead of later, we got disconnected. Needless to say, there was no text msg sent. SCAM. Don’t give out any info. STAY AWAY.
- Caller: “Verizon Wireless”

- BigA replies to Verizon wireless userIf you had opened that text message your password would have been changed successfully by them and they would have access to your account. They then buy some really expensive phones on your account after claiming that your phone was lost or stolen.
- Kristin replies to EDReceived this same text message at 1:00am today. Have blocked number based on previous info here.

- Cole BarronJust received a call from this number saying my account was restricted by Verizon and they needed my SSN, I hung up after they asked for that. I have Verizon so I was worried and called right away. They told me everything was fine on my account and scammers have figured out a way to have their number show up as whatever they want. Be careful and DON’T give out your information to the recorded line, call and speak to someone first!

- AnonymI got a call from this number and answered it.
There was a recorded voice that said this is Verizon wireless calling and unless you respond immediately your service will be suspended.
Well I just paid the bill 3 days ago and pay on time and never late or behind. So my guess is it is a spammer and they were going to ask for info.
I hung up and then called the same number from a land line reported the scam and confirmed there are no issues at all with my account. I then had an alert put on it so that no changes and or charges could be made with the account.
Verizon really needs to put things in place to stop spoofing!
I know if I did give the scammers info it would be hard to show that they used the name Verizon Wireless to get me to answer and be scammed.. so it doesn't seem to harm their reputation.
But spamming is out of control now and they make money hand over fist and could invest some to make spamming go away.- Caller: They said Verizon Wireless
- Verizon needs to fix thingsI got a call from this number yesterday. When I answered it it said it was Verizon wireless, it said my account would be suspended if I did not verify information.
press 1 to verify and press 2 to speak to a customer service representative.
I hung up!
Geee my service was NOT suspended!
Verizon has the money and the ability to stop phone spoofing.. but they choose not to!
All phone carriers of any type should be made by the FCC to put money in an account that would then put Spoof stopping software in place for all calls. - Dana replies to JacobThank God, there is still someone who has his own perception and doesnt get swept away without at least investigating a little.
- GaryI just bought my phone yesterday and I looked at my credit card and there was a charge to this number on the same day for 21.28 I did get a call from 800-9970204 but the phone saw it as spam

- RalfGot a call from this number a few hours after "chatting" with Verizon about them canceling my account even though I have Auto Pay. Did not answer the call, no message left. Person on chat had "American" name, but it was obvious English was not his first language. My account got fixed then, but now I wonder if my info was passed on to a buddy.
