- MW| 8 repliesTHIS IS A SCAM - if you've received a call from that number or were told to call it regarding a credit card, whether you gave them information or not: call the number on the back of your credit card and REPORT FRAUD
there are nasty human beings out there - Gnomes| 3 repliesthey called 15 times before i decided to check the number out. But i was asked to call 800 454 9078 and when i asked the guy to verify that He was from Chase he told me that I was calling 800 955 9060. I told him that i was a business account and he transfered me to another lady who could not verify any info and suggested that I call the number on the back of the card. I hung up right away!
- Tom replies to Tyler @ Tempe, AZ| 5 repliesThis number is a scam. I recieved a message instructing me that there was suspicious activity on my credit card and that I should call 800-955-9060.
Suspicious, I called an official phone number found on the Chase.com website and they verified that there was no activitiy on either of my accounts. To be certain, I had the Chase respresentative transfer me to the Fraud Department. The Fraud Department asked what phone number I was contacted at. I provided them with the phone number and they said that there had been not calls to that number by or on behalf of Chase.
When you call the Chase main number they will ask for your name, last four digits of your account, mother's maiden name, zip code, etc. They will never ask for your full account number or social security number as these scam operations will.
When you read the other posts here, ask yourself: (1) What do the people who claim that this phone number is legitimate have to gain? (Answer - your credit card, number, social security number and other personal information) 2. What do people who say that this number is illegitimate have to gain? (Answer - nothing)
If you recieve a suspcious call you to the Chase.com webpage and click on the contact us link in the upper right hand corner for the official contact numbers. - Dave replies to Hate cold callsI got a call from 800-955-9060 from the Toys-r-us Mastercard fraud Dept. I don't own a toys-r-us card, so I called for 800 listings, got the t-r-us fraud number and called that. Turns out that Chase handles the T-R-Us account. The 800-955-9060 is a legitamate Chase Fraud Number.
After being asked a bunch of questions to identify myself (none of them using current information--good going Chase), I was told that someone had applied for and received a T-R-Us card on my account. The fraud detection services worked for me. - Greg| 1 replyI called the number on my card, was told that 800-955-9060 was legitimate.
Called it but wound up hanging up on them. I agree completely with the people who complain about unprofessional behaviour from the people at the other end. I am still not sure what went on but I may just cancel my account with Chase just to be on the safe side. - Ziggy| 2 repliesI got a call on my cellphone and I ignored it since it was showing up as a unknown number. When I listened to the voicemail they said to call 1-800-955-9060. I was going to call to verify my account but then I remembered most businesses don't block their numbers. This was my first credit card that I just received and I almost got scammed. If you think this is a legit number then say bye bye to your money.
- Joan Flemingthey said there were charges on my card they found suspicious
- Sarahm| 7 repliesA man who said his name is Justin called my parents house and asked for me. He said there was unauthorized use on my Amazon.com account or credit card and he wanted my parents to give him my direct phone number. I don't do business on that account and I have very few credit cards. He left this 800 number and asked that I call him back. After reading this site, I'm not calling back. Thanks for helping.
- D Brown replies to Sarahm| 1 replyThat is a legit number and it appears your account has been compromised. I just contacted them and got it straightened out. Even if you don't use the account much, if it exists, someone else can stick it to you if you are not careful. Call Chase and check it out.
- MSCI received a call Sunday evening concerning my AARP card- they said they were checking on a possible fraud transfer on my card. They ask me to verify some information - ask me if I had ever live at - and gave me three
addresses to verify - also ask about what other cards I carried, places that I had worked and also asked me for the three digit number on my card. I didn't realy think much about it at the time. Then later I started to worry about it as I have never received any calls like this before. So, I started checking phone numbers. This number was not listed anywhere in the informaton from AARP. Is this called legit??? If not what do I need to do? - Mi| 1 replyI received a message to call 1-800-955-9060 concerning activities on my card that may have been fradulent this evening. I called the telephone number on hte back of my Chase card, input my last four digits of my account and was sent directly to the fraud department. i would suggest you do the same. Didn't inquire about the number left on my VM but Chase did tell me that they believed my last 3 transactions to be fradulent, they actually weren't and I appreciate the extra mile that they went through to mark my transactions as possible fraud, they were quick to contact me and quick to react (they put a hold on my account). Also, I tried to log into my account online and my account would not come up so this is actually a very good feature for Chase. No, I do not work for or am in the business of promoting Chase, I'm a full time student and full time secretary in the DC area.
- Caller: Not sure, I didn't call the number given
- surprisedI received a call from this number, but I instead called back the number on the back of my card. There had indeed been recent purchases of thousands of dollars that I had not made. I'm glad they called to notify me.
- Caller: Chase Fraud
- Almost Scammed| 2 repliesTHIS IS A SCAM NUMBER, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFO!!!!
this is without a doubt a scam. what kind of loser, other than some crook trying to scam you, would get on here and try and convince you it's not a scam. They called my home 3 times this morning leaving messages. They said they were the fraud department at visa and asked us to call back. We called and the woman sounded extremely suspicious, so we asked to speak to her supervisor, who was a man with a thick accent. He also stumbled when we asked him to verify that he was visa. We then got a valid number off of visa's website. When we called visa they had no record of calling us, or of us calling them. This guy is a crook, report him. - Jessica replies to Tom| 1 replyJUST AN FYI- ALL SECURITY DEPARTMENTS WITH CREDIT CARD COMPANIES HAVE TO VERIFY YOU COMPLETELY, BEFORE RELEASING INFO. IF YOU CALL THEM THEY HAVE TO VERIFY SOMETIMES LAST 4 OF SSN, DOB, MMN, ADDRESS, AND YOUR CARD NUMBER. IF YOU RECIEVE A CALL THEY WON'T ASK YOU TO VERIFY , INLESS ITS AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM.
- jolly replies to Sarahm| 3 repliesthis number is legitimate, its from chase bank fraud alert.someone called us because thre was an authorized purchase from our chase credit card.she stopped the transaction but the other 3 unauthorized purchase were already done.she gave us a number to call(1800-955-9060) to clear up the matter.that lady who called us disabled our account right on the spot when we told her we didnt purcahse the $3447.59 from Nebraska.it turns out that the criminal was buying a guitar from the internet in that exact moment, and that lady who called us (1800-955-9060 lady)save us from more troubles.see my post in 1847 488-6000 number. This happened just this morning Jan 3,2008
- piki-iki| 2 repliesFound a message on my answering machine, claiming to be Chase fraud dept. My wife called back the 955-9060 (I was at work) that they left on the message, and she told me that she had to give them our credit card number (in full), plus questions about our prior addresses and stuff like that. I freaked out when I read this post, some of them being very alarmist.
So...I called the number on the back of my card, asked to be xfered to the fraud dept, and asked them if that number was legit. The guy replied right away that it was indeed legit, and they had records of them trying to contact us on that given day.
I don't understand what motivates people like Tom to post alarmists posts like his. The whole thing was completely legit, but I got completely freaked out, thinking that we had fallen for a scam and that our identity had been stolen.
Bottom line, the number IS LEGIT. If you are not sure, call Chase (main number on back of card), ask to be transfered to the fraud dept, and ask them about that number. I, for one, wouldn't believe it until I personnally checked. - fraudbuster| 1 replyguys, think about it. why are the number popping up now? why not before? I mean it's VISA and it's fraud prevention! i can say with certainly that their fraudulent activity began a few weeks before aug. (the first post in this forum) and was active for 5 months until today.
do not trust ANYONE that CALLS YOU! Always use the NUMBER IN THE BACK of your card and NOT 8009559060! - MikeThis isn't a scam. It was, in fact, the Fraud Department at Chase. Yesterday I set up a balance transfer on an account that has been inactive for over a year. I work for another credit card company, so I'm familiar with fraud verification practices, and was not surprised to receive a call the following day. They were able to verify information off the account, and verify that my online access to the account had been temporarily blocked, due to the hold on the account. After verifying that I was the one who set up the transfer, and not an ID thief, they released the hold on the account and reinstated online access. The accents may seem suspicious, but most credit card company's outsource their calling centers to India and such.
- Vadim replies to williamI had the same situation. I called my branch and they told me that number I got call from 800-955-9060 is ok. NOT a Scam.
- originally suspiscious"Chase" called 3 different tel nos. w/same last name leaving message to call 800-955-9060 re: validating account activity. Late last night PDT, I made several calls to that and other Chase nos., all of which rolled to people who, I thought, asked inappropriate "verification" questions. Today, I logged on to the Chase site and sent an email asking what was going on. The (secure) response was swift, indicating they must speak to me personally, and included a different contact no. 800-436-7927. I knew immediately that no. was OK as I listened to elevator music for 5-7 minutes. The agent asked the usual identity validation questions and assured me that indeed 800-955-9060 was the direct line to Chase security.
I had had an inadvertant (wrong card in the ATM)failed transaction a few days ago and that triggered the Chase response. I thought I had cleared up that issue already after 5 earlier calls to the customer service no. on the back of the card. Apparently not. Some overkill at Chase, I think. Also, their 800 no. relay colleagues in the Phillipines could use some additional training.
