I just got this call (800-955-9060). It is the Chase fraud protection line. However, like anything you think might be sketchy, you can ALWAYS call the customer service number and have them transfer you to fraud protection. (I don't trust any phone call or email that tells me to call a strange number or click on a link - I ALWAYS go through the numbers I know.)

Got the call myself today from 480-902-6000, identifying themselves as Chase Fraud dept. and they left a message to call them back at 800-955-9060. Called the number of the back of my Chase credit card, the one on the credit card website, and the 800-955-9060 number. I was unable to access my account with just my last four digits from all 3 and the error message was consistent on all three attempts. I finally provided my whole card # to a rep at the number found on the back of the card and they asked me about a $3500+ charge from today for anntaylor.com. It was definately not mine, plus there was another charge and credit from today that I didn't recognize so we closed the account immediately and they've opened a new one for me. This was a legitimate call.

Got a call on this number about suspicious activity on my Chase card.  Told them I'd have to check with my wife, and get back to them.  Called the number on the back of the card, intending to ask whether this number was valid or not, but they sent me right to the fraud department anyway, and they took care of everything.  Before I hung up, they did give me the same number (800-955-9060) as the general line for Chase Fraud Prevention.

It's possible that scammers are using this number (spoofed caller-id, or something), though, so it always pays to call the number on the back of your card, just in case.

This is the number Chase uses to confirm charges in case there is unusual activity on your account.  If you don't call it you may find that a hold has been placed on the account until they verify that the charges are legit.  I personally am glad that they check on unusual activity.

I just called Chase hotline (hotline at the back of my credit card) to verify this no. 18009559060, lucky that the guy on the phone said this is their security dept number.  I'm okie.   and he said in case we receive this kind of call in the middle of the day to verify, if we're not comfortable, we can simply hang up and call the hotline number at the back of our Chase visa card, they can help re-direct our line back to their security department.   I guess i'll do this next time if i receive any call to verify my visa card spending next time.  More safe and have a peace of mind.

The number is legitimate.  However, I called the number on the back of my card just to be safe; I always do this when I am not the one initiating a call regarding my credit card.

Chase was merely verifying that charges they flagged as "suspicious" were actually mine and that I was in possession of my card.

Yeah it's a real number, I got called from it today, called the number from the back of my card and they just wanted to go over a transaction that occurred this morning. The lady said that it was probably something that was pulled up on the merchant's end and they alerted Chase just to be sure.

Always call the number on the back of the card, they should be able to find what was going on pretty easily if there's a problem with your account.

Got a call from them today.  Initially pretended I wasn't around and took a message for "me" - was from Chase fraud dept.

Called back before checking out the number, because I was just on vacation and figured someone must have gotten my card number.  I ended up canceling my card through them, they had detail of my previous purchases so I figured it was legit.

I then had second thoughts about the number after I did this.... so I called the number on the back of my card and the recording told me that the card was already canceled for security purposes.  Appears to be legit.

This is Chase Fraud Protection.....I received a call at work that was highly unusual.  I had made some changes to my account changing phone numbers and mailing address being that I am moving.  Went through all the questions but left the call feeling uneasy.  Called the number on the back of my card and spoke to a customer service representative who was able to confirm that someone had called and checked on this.  This is legit!  Called about my Slate card.

Its a legit message/number. Regardless you should ALWAYS call back a CC company on a confirmed number (like behind the card) to be safe.

I got the same message on my voice mail saying it was Chase calling about account activity.  I called the customer service # on my card to try to verify the 800 number and got an automated voice service that asked me to verify the last 6-7 charges on my card.  When I did so, the voice said there had been a hold placed on my account and said it would now be released.  Interestingly, this involved little money though it was  a somewhat different pattern of use than I usually have.  So I agree with those who say they rock!

I checked and double checked, it is a legit #.

got the call today but it came from a different number asking me to call back this 800# to reach the Chase Fraud dept. I was very skeptical since the number on my caller ID looks like it was from a cell phone in California and the guy who left the message for me to call Chase was very unpolished and said for me to call back and have acct number ready. Anyways, I called the number on the back of my Chase card and indeed they had put a hold on my credit card due to a questionable charge of $700 to sears.com which indeed was fraudulent.

So in my case, this number was legitimate but as others have said, the safe, smart thing to do is to always call the number on the back of your credit card and only give them parts of your card number like last 4 digits or info such as your bday if requested.

Chase really needs to upgrade the people who call and leave messages. I was certain I was being scammed cuz the guy sounded sketchy as Hell and again, the number on my caller ID was an area code 805 number not a 1-800 or 1-866 number

This is a legit Chase Card Fraud Services number. The guy I spoke with was professional. I even called the number on the back of the card to verify what I had done was correct. So yes, this is a legit number :)

I got a call from this number with saying I had a fraudulent charge on my credit card, which I hung up to, and then called Chase with a real number on their website and they said there had been NO FRAUDULANT CHARGES. Then, a week later, my credit card begins to be declined, and I call Chase and they tell me that a week AFTER I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER a fraudulent charge was placed on my credit card. I guess the [***] using this number finally figured out my information without me telling them and started trying to buy things :/ I've been plagued with fake calls from chase for the last month, it's maddening. I no longer answer the phone if its not from a phone number I can recognize or verify on the internet. Thanks for making the world a sucky place scammers...I live almost below the poverty line, can you at least pick on someone with actual money? Jesus.

Oh wait, never mind, I'm a complete idiot. So I actually just called Chase to double check on this, and I guess the call I received was a legit call placed about ten minutes after the fraudulent purchase was attempted. I thought the fraudulent purchase was a week later. Anyhoo, the woman I spoke to at Chase verified that this number is one of theirs, and she mentioned that there's a lot of numbers Chase has that aren't on their website. She said whenever i receive a call I'm suspicious of i should just call the chase number on the website and verify the number with chase. Personally, I wish Chase would publish a list of the numbers they use so we can all refer to it and stop having to deal with this crappy guessing game...

Legit. I called the # on the back of my card instead to be sure, which is always an option.  There was a $588 charge I didn't make!

Legit number. I had contacted Chase about some suspicious activity on my card and they left me a voicemail asking me to call back on this number. I also checked the Secure Message Center on my Chase Online Banking account and they referred me to the same number. I called and had my problem settled so this definitely is the number for Chase Fraud Operations.

I got this message. I called chase back and it was legitimate. I had already had a card taken and they shut it down. But always verify who you are dealing with.
