Think about it, weren't they asking you questions that you would only know the answers too? perhaps they were trying to make sure you were who you really said you were. Also, they were wrong, that is the fraud department.

Perhaps Erin Miller used to work there, some people don't change their phone numbers with all their credit card companies, or gave wrong number.

So far, I have received 4 different calls from the 18009559060 number.  Three of them were within one hour.  The red-flag for me was that each call concerned 3 DIFFERENT cards... a mastercard, a visa, and a chase card.  We called them back and they couldn't find an account under my husband's name and our phone number. When they wanted his social security number - we knew it was a scam.  Plus, we have never had a Chase credit card or even a Chase bank account. We've never received a paper bill from Chase - nothing at all.

The number is legitimate. However, I wasn't sure, so I called back using the number on the back of my card. They were uncertain about some purchases my wife had made on our joint account. When in doubt, call the number on the back of your card.

By the way, I had to enter my entire 16 digit number when I called that number. When I mentioned my worry of fraud, they also had me give my date of birth and mother's maiden name.

After I got a voice message about my chase card (from fraud prevention department), I google the number immediately and found this website. Given most people here claimed that number is a scam, I decided to log in to my online account to see what's happening first. To my surprise, my credit card is no longer availabe in the online system! Then I called the number on the back of my card and they confirmed the number, 1-800-955-9060 is a legitimate number of their fraud department. I was told the reason I didn't have access to my card online is because they have to put some kind of security hold on it before they talked to me. He went through 2 most recent transactions on the card with me and told me there was no longer any problem and I can still use my card. However, I have to wait for 3~5 business days until the security hold on my online system is removed. Again, if you don't trust what I'm saying, call the number on the back of your card first.

    Checked it out
It is a valid number.  I called the main# on the card like most had suggested and verified it was good.  They closed the account & issued a new card.

By all means, call back.  The number is legitimate.  They reviewed a couple of recent charges with me and the charges were in Mexico...the charges were fradulent.  Chase quickly closed the account and will send me new card.

Happy to have someone looking out for the fraudulent charges.

it's chase fraud detection... it's legit.  i got a letter saying that there were unauthorized charges on my chase account and i called this number.  it is very secure and my account was closed and i was reissued another account. they knew the last 4 digits of all of my chase accounts...don't think a scam artist can pull that one off.

My husband received a call from Chase stating my Amazon card had been charged by someone in London for less than $20. As far as I know, I do not have a Chase Amazon card. They would not talk with my husband further, but said for me to call them. I got the fraud number from Chase's website and called it, but when they asked for my 16-digit account number, I couldn't give it to them because I don't have one. I ended up emailing abuse@chase.com. I did not call 800-955-9060 back. Now I'm waiting to get a reply back from Chase.

Got a call from 800-955-9060 saying it was from United Fraud Dept and to call them regarding recent activity. Since the phone number did not match what was on the back of my credit card, I got online and typed in the phone number and got this site. I followed advise of one responder and simply called the customer service number that IS on the back of my card. This is good advise because you know it's a legitimate number then. It turned out that there was a hold on my card through Ticketmaster for a purchase I was going to make but then used a different card, so Chase was just calling to see if I wanted to go through with the purchase or not. So it was a legitimate call. That being said, it is always wise to be cautious and call only the number listed on your card.

I also received a call from 847-488-6000 telling me to call back the other number...at 809am, at BOTH my phone numbers, cell and work.
Sounded fishy, so I found this site and called Chase from there website.
Good thing--I was going to ignore it, but as it turns out as of today someone had been making charges
and now my account is closed and a new card is on its way.
Never experienced any fraud before... im pretty paranoid.
What is odd is that I never use this card for INTERNET purchases.. or not RECENTLY.
I havent used it in more than 1 month.

Just got a call from a different number (1-224-222-5000) that asked me to call this number regarding Chase fraud activity. I didn't call the specified number, but instead the number on the back of my card. There was, in fact, fraud activity on my account, so unless this is highly coincidental, I'd say the number is legit.

Yes, I got a call leaving this number,  I was rather sceptical but did give the info requested, last four, etc.  I was on a trip and in a place where I had never vsited before (out of State) and they were concerened,  I was thrilled and said so that they were on top of such things,  It was two day after I had made a purchase.  This is legit !!!! They ROCK.

Not a scam.  I called the number; it was an automated recording that asked for the last 4 digits of my card # and social security # for verification, then recited the last 5 or so charges to my card and asked if I recognized them (which I did).  The voice then told me that the hold that had been placed on my account was now lifted.
