I literally JUST got a new phone number (last week). It is NOT listed anywhere! I don't owe anyone anything, always pay my bills on-time (b/c my credit score is very valuable to me) and and I'm getting calls for a Chris... I won't return the calls but should I inadvertently answer, I'll remember to start asking them very personal questions, sexual in nature. I'll tell them I'm in their parking lot or their home driveway and I'm waiting for them to come out for "hot action". Then I'll change the number.

The collection agencies are getting more clever. They've found out about these websites where people share phone numbers and details of collection calls. So now they have trolls who lurk in the sites and chastise people for not taking the calls and such.

This company called for my deceased son.  He never had a student loan.  Do they collect for anything else?

I had a student loan that was supposed to be converted to a grant if I worked full time for 4 or 5 years (it's been so long ago I can't remember exactly) in nursing.  I did so, however, neglected to send the loan company confirmation of year 4.  They immediately turned it into a loan, despite me sending what they needed when I realized the omision.  I'm not paying it.  They can send it to whatever collections company they want, including this one, and I'm still not going to pay it.  This unethical bunch has decided to call my 89 year old grandmother weekly looking for me.  Losers.  But you're still not getting a penny from me!

I've had calls from these idiots before. They claim I owe a student loan to a school I withdrew from when it's not a loan at all. It's tuition they're claiming that I owe. I have documentation from the school that I withdrew but they don't seem to care. Telling me that it was a "student loan" is a blatant violation of the FDCPA. It's called "misrepresentation".

Send them a full C&D letter by certified mail. That's what I did. If they continue to call or don't cease collection activity, sue their [***]. Racking up FDCPA violations is a payday for YOU. Educate yourself on the FCRA and the FDCPA. You'll find that it, meaning THE LAW, is your ally.

I find it hilarious that there are trolls on here from Williams and Fudge telling people to pay their bills. Here is a clue. Try validating what you're collection. That way when you get a summons, you might actually be able to defend yourself and your company in court. Then again, internet research seems to show you guys are a pretty easy opponent in court.

Got on the blog to see who these people were. Though I have a student loan there was an agreement to allow me six months (til Feb '10) to start payments again as I was unemployed with a new baby and my husband was laid off due to the economy. We agreed to have the balance continue to gain the same interest rate during the time of the six months. A mutual agreement between business and payer, to me, seems simple and honest enough.  I have no intention of evading a debt I created and do find fault with those who do but I guarantee that I don't have a payment obligation until Feb '10 per the agreement.  Does this mean that the "Williams and Fudge Inc." has -bought the debt- and has an agreement plan of their own?

call from 1-800-849-9791 ext.2216,  Herb Downing, identified Williams and Fudge as employer. first call looking for last name Mesmer, not my last name now or ever and stated that.  call #2 Asked for Ann, when I said yes, he called me Ms. Peterson, also not my last name. when I said no, he got heated stating "we know who you are" you are using your middle name,"our research shows" that your phone # belongs to this Mesmer Peterson person. I told him to check his research. I am listed in the phone book. He demanded to know my name. It was a bit scarey.

To those who tell people to take care of their business. Mind your own business. If someone has a legitimate claim against me, they can send it in the mail. They got my phone number, I'm sure they have an address. Why are these people not getting something in the mail? Simple, for the majority here, they are being encouraged to actually take care of other peoples problems. Yes, some of you are relentlessly harassed by these people for no other purpose than skip tracing. To those who claim an answer is due them, won't you agree that the proper first contact of any collection action should be the mail to legitimize the action?

"There is no statute of limitations on Student loans!"

I noticed that someone posted this piece of misinformation. While federally backed loans have no SOL, the same cannot be said for Private loans, especially if they're much older and from lenders like Chase or Wells Fargo.  I know someone who beat a private student loan in court using the SOL defense. She hadn't paid on it in 7 years. The school never certified the loan, it was used to pay overdue tuition and it was disbursed directly to her. All three of those factors contributed to this loan not being subject to the 2005 Bankruptcy Reform Act's definition of a qualified education loan.

I'm not saying what she did was to be admired but she did beat it. So yes, not all student loans are without an SOL period.

Williams and Fudge likes to call people and tell them they owe a student loan when, many times, it's a delinquent school account. By student account, I mean someone who gets a parking ticket or runs up charges at the bookstore on their account. These are NOT student loans. That is blatant misrepresentation.

hey if we owe these people money then how about them mailing us something in writing and have them verifying the debt in writing when we ask them to instead of calling our numbers 50,000 times?any reputable collection agency would mail something in writing and not call so much.

If these [***] were reasonable, there wouldn't be so many complaints about them. My college was PAID IN FULL by the university. I never paid a red cent to go to school. I have my degrees to PROVE IT. I do not owe my university anything at all. These [***] keep calling me saying that I owe money to a school that I never attended! I'm seriously considering hiring an atty to deal with this! These people are the SCUM OF THE EARTH! There is a special place in HELL for debt collectors.

    straight up. Ponder that....

This company represents at least 900 schools nationwide.  The colleges  don't have the means to deal with students who bolt and don't deal with their personal business with the school. The schools are there to educate.  So, I would recommend that you research your facts before writing slander. Williams and Fudge helps the schools with their business. This business does not belong to Williams and Fudge.

It's just silly that any of you people would take the time to avoid
phone calls and deal with business you went out in the world and created.
What is that exactly?  Do you know that agencies deal with 1/10th of one percent of the population in the United States? What does that tell you? Most people deal with their business but alas, there is a small percentage that tries to evade and avoid. There is a necessity for agencies because of these people. Sounds like some of you are those people!
