I fell victim to this scam and the guy [***] up.  I can give you all the details... but here is basically what happened.

Earlier in the day He had asked me to send his wife a text to apologize. He said her name was Susan.  Later in the day when he was extorting me for money he told me to western union or moneygram his sister some money... he said make it out to Ithaca Johnson of Greenville , South Carolina.  I looked her up on  Facebook was Ithaca " Susan " Johnson. So then I ran a online background check on her and got her address and everything.   I played hardball with him today and now he is freaking out. Below is her Facebook.

Chick says she was 23 online traded and and hers was 8432261189 well said she was 7 days from being 18 blah blah blah sent me dirty pics never her face I never sent any back and said she wanted to smash told her I don't do that on the 1st meet anyways i told her the address said she would come chill said she'd see me soon so never heard anything back well apparently she was driving on her way here got into a wreck and the father seen on her phone where I was older blah blah blah and told me they was going to the police and press charges against me for excitement of a minor and the was Tuesday morning got the angry dad txt later that day and it's Thursday night now and just now from the 4219 number said his wife and him after going to talk to the popo in the morning I thought it was a scam from the rip thank god I was right I haven't messaged back from the jump of [***] but my only thought was if your daughter is in a wreck why you worried about me instead of her how do you know what your daughters kuku looks like cuz no face was shown and if you had my address why you not gonna come whoop my ass it's a scam I ain't sweating it

Its happing to me got a gril number of mocospace her father told me she 16 but i was told diffrent now he saying he going call the cops to lock me up.then i got i call from his lawyer saying he wants to money for his daughter class i look the lawyer up doesn't exit i try to call back the laywer number. Was disconnected but the father still calling saying to pay or else he going to the cops father name william ganes

At first the father called thru this#13524690823...but i caught on

This guy done the same thing to me. On a dating site. Girl was listed as 23 chatted with her and then the next day "dad" is threatening me. 8643951853

The same exact thing happened to me just a few weeks ago. He told me to send him money for a green dot card because .his daughter has broken his laptop. # is 1(864)554)0283).

Got the girls # off tagged got sum pics sent to my phone.  The Dad told me she was a minor that she destroyed his laptop and I have to pay him through green dot card if not he was going to press charges on him to call child services . Every mom can't talk because you're so upset

Given the 2100 or so posts on this thread, I am sure you have figured out that this is an extortion scam.  But, why are you posting on this thread when the number you listed is totally different?

I got the same thing. Kind of played along. Get a long message about underage daughter making a video and ruining her mom's laptop and that he'd press charges unless I paid $1500 to replace it. I even got a call from my city's police department, mumber was real, but I don't know if it was actually them, but I missed the call and no message had been left. I'm really not sure what I should do. Sounded like a total scam to me

89 pages of reports on here, somehow you made it to page 80 without figuring out that this is a scam?  I  count 6 entries on this page alone that tell you that.  Look, if the PD had actually called you (and if this really were the situation, they would have shown up at your door) then there is nothing stopping you from calling them asking what they wanted.  Or you can pay these extortionists and then keep paying until you don't have a penny to your name.  Your choice.  Wise up.  This is not how law enforcement operates.  Oh and one other piece of advice.  Stay off of sites like this and then these things won't happen.

Hey I wasn't referring to paying them. First I've heard of this scam. I meant who to refer the complaint to. Local, federal, etc. funny thing is, it came from somewhere I didn't expect.

Same happened to me claimed to be from the military and said I'd have to pay 500 dollars to disconnect the number and phone and when I asked how he told me to go to cvs to do it this girls name was Nelly on meetme

I did the same thing. I called the guy back and really gave it to him. Told him I knew of his scam and have already reported him to ic3.gov and the local police. I thought I'd scare him. I get a call right back and let it go to voicemail. The guy calls me by some name, guessing he thought he had discovered who I was somehow, and proceeds to tell me that he uses multiple phones per day so good luck catching him and besides he is part of a grassroots movement with a hundred other people across the country who are "hunting down pedophiles on the interne." He followed that up with a bunch of expletives and another person in the background can be heard saying "we're gonna get you fa**ot. Both men had southern accents and the calls were made from 3 different numbers all in South Carolina.

I am forwarding the threatening voicemail to the police. I would recommend not engaging them. I think they might be dangerous.

Did the "dad" have a southern accent? I confronted him about his scam and he threatened me saying he is "The Dark KNIGHT of the Internet" lol
