I just want to post an apology, and some clarification.  As a long term sales employee of Coast to Coast Computer Products, I can tell you that we are given a lot of leeway with regards to the way we conduct ourselves on the phone.  This is no excuse for offending a potential or existing customer, and to my knowledge, it is not common that we have representatives here harassing prospects as noted throughout this thread, at least not for the long term.  There are anumber of policies in place relative to rudeness on the phone, or disrespecting a prospect or customer.  The first time it is reported by a prospect/customer, depending on the seriousness of the violation, you are written up or terminated.  A second violation of this policy results in immediate termination.  While we are a B2B telemaketing firm, and some people can get away with a few things before we catch on, we have many satisfied and regualr customers, our products are not inferior in the vast majority of cases, and I am not aware of anyone here who charges two to three times what Staples or Office Depot do.  We are realtively competitive with industry rates, often include free product in shipments of four or more toners, and our representatives are trained to be polite and porfessional in their business conduct.

That all said, I believe each and every story on this thread, and want to provide a general apology on our behalf.  If Coast to Coast has harrassed or offended you in any way, I can assure you it is not at the request of management, or the intent of management and leadership here that this type of behavior occurs.  It is simply a product of new telemarketers being hired and vetted through our hands on approach to training.  Our industry, B2B sales of IT and office related equipment, supplies, and services, is wrought with fraud, and we try our hardest to stay out of the mud.  Our A+ rating with the BBB is evidence that we at least treat people fairly, and that we do not have an agregious number of reports filed each year.  I sincerely apologize if you have been offended by one of our past or present representatives.

If you are ever offended by a Coast to Coast representative in the future, please contact us at 800-223-8890, and ask for Melissa, who has access to all outbound call records company wide.  Should you provide her with your number, we will track down the call, and address the issue with the representative that made the call immediately.

This company is a scam. 100%. They call and say they are your supplier and say they need your model numbers. (This is one of the oldest scams in the book) However, if you have a new employee, they will likely give this information. Then they send you toners that are EXTREMELY overpriced. When we called to say we didn't order these and would like to return them, the guy got very rude and said that's not possible. So they send threatening letters saying they are going to hire attorneys etc. The latest is that they are now asking for 2 shipments of overpriced toners. Neither of which we actually ordered and one we didn't receive. Many years ago I worked for a telemarketing company. They also had an A+ rating from the BBB, so their rating really doesn't mean much.

Told them we didn't have printers. He was confused and repeated his spiel. Told him again that we didn't have any printer. He asked how that could be? I told him we were an entirely paperless company and employed monks when we needed something actually printed. What an idiot he was.

Monica from Coast to Coast called for one of our purchasing employees. Unfortunately no one in our company has the time to take cold calls. If we did, we would not have a thriving business as we do. I forwarded her to their voicemail. If they are interested they will call back it's as simple as that. It seems odd that a company all the way in Santa Barbara, California would call a company in St. Louis, Missouri.

The woman (Marie) on the other line said that she was with a company called Coast to Coast. We have a new receptionist, so she was unsure about what to do with that call, so she tried to forward it to someone who knew what to do. When that person picked up, Marie said "Wow, you sound like you're 17 or 18" and then immediately went into her spiel. Our person told Marie that we were all set with ordering supplies, and Marie asked her why she was wasting her time. When our person pointed out that she started out the conversation by calling her a teenager, she backpedaled and tried to apologize. We tried calling back the number to complain, but when transferred to Marie's manager, there was no answer.

WOW... your accounts payable dept "doesn't have time to view every statement that comes in".  Sounds like you need to hire another person or get a new accounting staff.  Basically their only job is to pay the bills.  This includes matching statements to invoices to receivers to purchase orders.  Sounds like you have a bigger problem than junk phone calls.  The potential for the embezzlement of company funds might be something you want to watch out for as well.

One bad salesman doesn't mean the company is bad. Actually I am using Coast to Coast and their customer service is what keeps me with them. I'm sure the salespeople who are unprofessional are let go immediately once brought to their attention.

I love this company. They are very legitimate. The owner takes very good care of his employees. He does however give people that he hires a chance to prove themselves in the cold call area. If they don't do well or treat people on the phone rudely, he fires them immediately. Also, people often judge those cold calling people, even if the company they're calling has a cold call center themselves. There are many hpocrytes who complain or treat these people rudely themselves. All you peeps out there who think you're above that, be careful who you judge, you may be without a job one day and have to do cold calls yourself. Most people don't realize how profitable cold calling is still today. This company has been around since the 80's and they are a multi-million dollar company, so maybe you should be cold calling yourself.

I work at Coast to Coast and can state with confidence that we are completely legit.  We honor our clients 100% and have great products and partners, plus the absolute best guarantee in the industry. Sure, there are other companys that operate the way this person and others describe, but that is not us, maybe another Coast to Coast (I know of at least 5).

We are dedicated to taking excellent care of our customers.  We sell over 50 million a year and have grown steadily over the last 29 years. We wouldn't have that level of success if we treated our clients this way.  We do not send threatening letters, our prices are highly competative and the A+ rating with the BBB means a great deal. At least with the BBB there is a legitamacy of a company that filters the claims and ensures a proper follow through.

My guess is that there are some angry ex-employees who got fired (probably for poor behavior and not meeting up to our high standards of excellence) who are writing into this site making false claims.  Is there anyone managing these complaints, or can anyone just write anything they want and make false claims?

Actually, I work at Coast to Coast and I know Monica, she is a great girl and an honest employee.  We work with thriving business all across the country.  As a matter of fact, if you were to order from us you would receive the product in one business day because it would ship directly out of the St. Louis Missouri warehouse.

Because you stated that you have a thriving business than I assume you understand that in order to thrive one needs to take care of more than just local businesses.  Does your company only service or supply to your immediate neighbors?

If Monica calls you back, please give her a shot, she is a good lady who has a boy to feed and just wants to do a great job.

Sales people are people too.  Our time is all that we have to invest in feeding our families.  How exactly is this not rude to lie and give false hope to a professional business person who wants nothing more than to earn your business?  I understand that you don't like sales calls but please keep in mind that we are a legit A+ Rated company and we don't want to waste your valuable time, we want to help you acheive your companies objectives to become more profitable.

"We have hundreds of thousands of regular clients..."   I find that number very hard to believe.  How many employees are employed by  your company?  How many branch offices are there?
