Have you received any calls back?  I received a call from Zachary tonight saying I never returned their calls (first one ever tonight) from a NeW Jersey number.  Said that their is an audit going on in my state of residence but never mentioned what I supposedly owed money for.

This number was left as a callback number. The number they called from was: 703-879-7994. The woman in the message said I had made a payment "through their office" but that is was "returned unpaid" by the bank. She ID'ed herself as "Susan from summit receivables". I suspect a scam, however. I am not panicking, nor am I calling them back.

No, not repaying a loan is not stealing. It's a civil contract and cannot be turned into a criminal complaint just based on the loan itself. What you describe is writing a bad check for the repayment of the loan. Writing a bad check is criminal and you can go to jail for that.

This is a return call number left from a voicemail I received from 1-844-880-9293.  While the female was pleasant on the voicemail, she did NOT mention #1 my name at all, #2 what company she is representing (collecting on behalf) or even the company she works for and, #3 HER name.  All she said was that she was "looking over notes and they do not represent you in a good light so I wanted to speak with you before I make my final recommendation." and the canned message about it is an attempt to collect a debt.  Blocked!!!

Just called them to mail proof of Debt,James told me he'd email it to my Email.

This company need to stop calling the people that is not involve relative or not and disclosing their information to the other people. Is that even legit to do that? This company is a collection service. Basically the bottom of the barrel type of individuals! They have called me looking for a relative and telling me that my relative owes money, to who, how much and that they are going contact the employer and start garnishing wages. I told them it was wrong to disclose that information on my relatives and stop calling me and take my number off on their list. The loser proceeded to tell me to call my relative and tell them he would be calling everyone they know and telling them they are not paying their bills! This company is clearly in violation of the law and should be investigated and close this company..even if that person debt is legitimate how can you harass other people and disclosed that type of information.

Then perhaps you should use the information in this thread to report them and to sue them.  You see you have both an FDCPA claim and a TCPA claim, and that relative definitely has an FDCPA claim.

I got a call from (305) 521-8789, i didn't pick up the phone; they left a voice mail saying the call may or may not concern me but they have made numerous attempts to reach me on phone regarding a debt recovery. The  voice mail said me to call on (844) 498-6545.
I can say this is  definitely a spam call. If they are real, they need to communicate to you in the mail before they reach out to you on phone.

I've been waiting 6weeks for Proof of Debt,Said they mailed it out twice.Still haven't received anything.They told me today that if I want paperwork to get it from the Debtee.I F you're a Legitimate Collection Agency they Should have the Paperwork Authorizing them to Collect on the Debt.SCAM.....

This is a scam. They claim to be collecting a debt and threaten to involve the law yet refuse to let you speak to a supervisor or mail proof of the debt. I wish I coukd get them to stop leaving me messages. It's harassment! Any real debts  would be reflected in you credit report. Thus company needs to be dealt with! My

Failing to provide you with a dunning letter postmarked within 5 days of your first conversation is a violation of the law.  Using the information in the many informative posts in this thread, you need to do this:

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state:  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

I received a voice message today, 6/9/16, from a woman who sounded Hispanic. She stated (very firmly) she was with Summit Receivables (who apparently collects for TOTAL Visa Credit Card) and has a claim she wants resolved and wanted to give me a chance before she takes action and that she needs to close this case so I NEED to respond. She did not leave her name just a number where I needed to call back 844-498-6545. The call came from 720-381-4419.
When I called 844-498-6545, they do not answer the phone "Summit Receivables". The guy answered with "This is Mr. Miller". I told him I was left a message to call. He looked up some info and asked me to confirm the last 4 of my ssn. I said "absolutely not" and he asked why. I stated that in no way do I have any proof of who I am calling and I am not giving that info out. He then asked me to confirm my DOB. Which I then declined again. I again asked who he was with and he said "I just told you" and I said "No, you told me your name". He said, "Ms.___, I sincerely hope you don't have a claim with us" and hung up on me.
I then called the 720-381-4419 number. It took 9 rings and then someone answered stating he was Alonso. I hung up because, again, nobody identified as Summit Receivables. Alonso then called me back from 925-235-0209 stating his name again and that I just called and hung up. I said "yes, I did". I must have had the wrong number. He states he is with Summit Receivables and I have a bill with Total Credit Card I need to pay. He stated that he doesn't care what the situation is and that I need to step up and pay my bills. I refused to argue and told him to have a nice day and hung up. BLOCK. I am reporting this to every site I can. IT IS A DEBT COLLECTOR and they are breaking harassment laws. Calling me at work, threatening me that they are taking action and I will be sorry.

i worked for summit receivables - yall make fun of debt collectors so bad.  think they are scum of the earth.  this place is out of buffalo new york.  collectors start at 18 an hour... and theres people there that get 5 thousand dollar bonus checks every month.  i made 66k in a year there.  so keep thinking debt collectors are scum.  we are the ones laughing driving brand new cars while you broke [***] debtors keep taking out pay day loans.

If they can't prove it, you probably don't owe it.  The burden of proof is on them, not you.
