I think you meant to say "Everything seemed legitimate to me so I decided to look up a known phone number and tell everyone about it, ignoring the fact that what may be a legitimate call for me might not be for others because scammers frequently spoof legitimate phone numbers."

They just called me but I knew right from the get go they were scammers! They had my old credit card for reference and didn't even have my address. Kept them on the line for fun as Inknre they would eventually give up!

Answered call. They said they were B of A fraud dept.  Started out asking for last 4 digits of SSN, and name, then asked for CC number.  This is SCAM behavior, so hung up.  They called me so they should know the number.  Called B of A  number on card, and they denied any problem with card and no knowledge of number.

I have a BOA credit card and used it today for an online purchase.  The little window popped up with the BOA Visa Verified thing....they sent me a code via text and I put that in to verify the purchase.  Thought that was the end of it.  Then all of a sudden I start getting phone calls from this number...so many that the callwatch app on my phone flagged it as a nuisance call and blocked it.  It may be BOA....I don’t know....but the fact that I verified the charge with the code they sent me makes me wonder.  Also, I checked my account and it looks good.  Just says charge is pending and if I think it is a fraudulent charge, I should contact them.  Oh and did I mention that I did get one voice mail. Guy says he’s calling for mumble mumble...couldn’t understand what he said and then the call switched over to pre-recorded telling me to call some number.

I get 4 to 5 of this number calling me weekly.  My phone service identifies it as SCAM.  Never is a voice message left.  I never called back.

This is definitely a BofA number. I had an active fraud issue on my card which was causing my card to be rejected and they called to clear it up. They knew everything about me including recent transaction history, when my last card had been mailed to my house, etc. They asked me to confirm a few reasonable identity details that did not compromise overall identity. The fraud issue was cleared up and I was able to continue using the card. Again, this number is LEGITIMATE.

I got a phone call from a different number asking me to call back this number. They had my first and last name AND last 4 digits of my card. Sounds legit, no? I called BoA customer service number on the back on the credit card and they had me talk to Fraud Department and surprise - it was a scam! I don't understand the positive reviews on this phone number. The bank submitted complaints for both numbers on my behalf, and issued me a new card. Weird!!!

I received a call from this number about possible fraud.  They had my last 4 digits of the account #.  I called the number on the back of the card and indeed there was a fraud charge the same day as the phone call.

Who did you look up the phone number if you already know who called you? Simply to tell people to call the number on the back of their cards?

Legit call from BoA about a charge on my account that was mis-handled by the vendor so they thought it was fraud. This # called my cell & work numbers within 1 minute of each other. I called the BoA number on the back of my Credit Card & the rep knew they had tried to reach out to me. She couldn't verify this actual phone number because they use so many automated numbers.
