I found this guy through cragislist, be careful!!!

I too have been looking at " Capt. Bobby Payne's" car. I sent several emails asking for a phone number so we could talk and hmmmm....never sent me a cell numer. The email I received from Bobby is EXACTLY the same. I contacted Ebay and they confirmed if a car is not listed on ebay payment cannot go thru Ebay, they told me it was a scam. I can't believe Bobby's email to me is word for word EXACTLY the same.

I too just about fell victim to this same scheme.  A 2003 Honda Accord EX for $2800.  Exact same story and email...nearly word for word.  Something needs to be done to this person!

This is the same email I got and I even had that guy become friends with someone I knew just to get me to buy the car.

I just received almost exactly the same email. Except SHE was a civilian and in Greece and it was a 93 Camry for 1150. Same wording about being detailed and looking like it just came off the showroom floor, and how she could "surely get someone" in my area to buy it. Even the same options! Clearly the same guy recycling the same BS. But I found you guys this morning, and held onto my cash.

Never give these guys your address... easy way to respond, give the address to your local FBI field office - that's what I always do.

No - it is not Fraud.  It is theft.  Fraud is when someone markets you one thing and sells you something totally different.  Theft is what you just experienced -- the scammer never intended on sending the auto to you, therefore, he just stole your money.

And, apparently, because it is internet commerce, our government authorities do not consider it worthwhile to pursue investigations into this type of theft...
