My son Erik received this message from out of the auto searches he did.  We were extremely interested in the car (of course its a great deal).  We believe this is a scam because we asked him for his military information, deployment base etc., and he just ignored our information claiming that he was using a military computer.   I wish there was some way that we could get this guy.  He was trying to rip off a young man who is working hard and going to school full time.  Shame on these imbecils who damage our society by violating them and raping them of their trust.

I researched the Jeffrey Tongate and he does exist, even stationed in Alaska as stated in the email, but both emails came to me the same. It is obviously a scam, especially with prices like those. Don't fall for them.

Damn i`m out of $3`500.00 cold hard cash plus banking fees, I got the same story about an army Sgt. James Hilmer and vehicle purchase protection agent MarK Taylor of El Paso, Taxas. As soon as I sent the funds i never heard from ebay or them again....so why is ebay not doing anything about these scams..Should they not be able to track the transaction, who do I report this to....DO BUY ANYTHING OF CRAIGLIST>>>>>

I got the same exact scam, Sgt James Hilmer and vehicle protection agent Mark Taylor scammed me for $3'500.00 and showed me a carfax report for a 2007 Chevy Tahoe, everything looked so legit, how does ebay allow these scams to happen...I will never purchase anything on ebay or craiglist again...

I had rec'd a settlement & needed a car- I love the '68-72 muscle cars. I discovered a "deal" too good to believe and it was. It was on E-bay, as soon as I sent the payment through Western Union the ad on E-bay disappeared- the number disconnected- the email account closed. I contacted E-bay -the user id had only been active for a short period only to be canceled. They specifically state not to send payment via Western Union. I jumped to get the deal before it disappeared- learn from my mistake...research!

please go to this free government website www.donotcall.gov there you can list all your cellphone and land line numbers- they will send you an email with a link to complete the request- this needs to be done within 72 hrs. There is also a link to file a complaint. Don't let this continue for another minute. Keep in mind that there are people "out there' that are just trying to get a rise out of others- don't let their negative actions ruin your day
