i emailed the same guy, and he told me the same exact stuff. lol im just messing around with him asking a bunch of questions. he told e his phone is messed up and he couldn't get it fixed till next week. i told him that's great and if he'll give me the number ill call him next week.

it's stupid how they try to trick people out of money, he tried to tell me ebay would pay 4 shipping.

I was scammed out of .  $3,000.00 I thought I was buying a 2005 VW Jetta the phone I was told to fax information to this phone number 858-408-3555 on ebay my email address is osv2006@msn.com The person selling the car is Lauren Windson I have came up with a lot of information conected with this number please contact me.

I would like to suggest that we all pull together and get a lawyer and go after eBay and Craig's List for not doing more to protect people.  I will be willing to do whatever needs to be done to stop these people. Also I think we should go after the phone company for continuing to allow this phone number to be used. I think we ought to contact the FBI, AS A GROUP, and file a formal complaint. This person, or group of people, needs to be stopped. Lastly, I strongly feel we need to contact the Air Force, on a national level, due to the fact that this person is using information from real members of the Air Force to commit their fraud. This is a serious matter of Air Force security.

No, neither eBay nor craigslist are responsible.  *YOU* (and I) are responsible for our own money.  If you/I get scammed then its our own stupid fault.

My suspicion is that it's a European gang.  Their English is good but far from perfect with syntax and grammar errors.

My "eBay Invoice" had a payee in Madrid.  That is the only piece of information that can possibly be relied upon and even then it may be a stolen identity card.  However it is the only link you can reasonably follow.  Even his IP is from free mail servers.  Even if you got those to search their log files it would most likely be from a public cybercafe, remailer or spoofed header.

No, the only rational target is the Western Union destination.  Western Union should be contacted for they do not like their service being used for evil purposes.  Notify them of this scam, the list of characters and email addresses involved and let them snag the recipients using local police.

I'd bet money its a gang of Russians or Romanians, both are technologically expert with a history.

I got the exact same email with the Lt Matthew Horn guy. Really glad that I looked up the name to make sure that this wasn't a fraud and it is! Everyone that uses craigslist.com should be very careful and NEVER under any situation buy an item without seeing it!

I was seconds away to committed to buy a white 2001 VW Beetle...when I kind of just decided to google the "Ebay buyer protection program". First thing that pops up? "ebay buyer protection program scam on craigslist" ... I clicked and am SOOO glad I did!!!
This girls name is "Kaitlin" and she is "selling" this car.
So many of the phrases I've been reading on this thread are exactly like what she wrote...only tweeked a little bit to make her sound more like someone who would actually own a 2001 beetle.

I just wanted to say that not only is this a scam but i logged into MY ACCOUNT on craigslist to post an item for sale and noticed a listing on my list of posts that I had not posted. the listing was the same as above and i had not posted it. furthermore i emailed the guy because i thought it was a fluke that somehow his post ot put on my account and wanted to give him the chance to repost before i deleted it. what i got back was these emails:

I couldn't agree more! sorry to say, but he got me for $4700 this very week. but where i live all you have to have is a business license to be a private inestigator, so i may be a private I before long.
