- Dee| 1 replyThey said they want to test your water.
- David Bryan| 2 repliesGot a card in mail today with large letters at top of page,
WATER UPDATE", as though it was very official from the water company. I need this to stop as of this date, 26 November 2008.- Caller: unknown
- nyfb| 4 repliesI am so bad for believing any of this but this one is a SCAM!!!!
- skamkilla| 2 repliesThey just want to sell you an overpriced water filter system. They will leave a small bottle and ask you to fill it with tap water so they can "test" it. The "results" always find some kind of contaminants. (Even if you fill it with bottled water.)
- Susie replies to skamkilla| 1 replyDoes anyone have the name and address of this company? I really need it, you are right it's a scam!!! Why don't they have business cards? Are they REAL?
- Ed O| 2 repliesI received a green post card in the US mail today with the heading "WATER UPDATE! Unfortunately we were unable to reach you by phone or in person. Please contact us within 72 hours." The they listed their office hours and the 866-204-0720 telephone number. Since the card was addressed to me personally and I have a listed telephone I became suspicious and called the number. A female-sounding voice answered the phone "Water Department" but when I questioned her she could establish an official connection to any city, county or state water department, so I hung up. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER TELEMARKETING HUSTLER TRYING TO SELL YOU SOMETHING.

according to Tommy Smothers at the Emmys - asd replies to nyfb| 1 replyJust got the flyer in the mail. Thank you to whom ever created this post.
- Wudgie replies to SusieIt's a real company, but they are true scam artists. Legitimate companies don't send cards like that without identifying themselves.
- P replies to asdThanks for posting this! I can't imagine how many consumers have gotten hooked in by wanting to be timely about their obligations, especially seniors.
- MarilynI just got the card and thought it was from the water company too. A pink card saying Water Update. Glad I read here, because I do not want a water filter system so now I know enough to trash the card. Thanks!
- BryanGGot the card today, assumed it was a scam, so I didn't call. Posted the information on our communities website.
- Robert| 1 replyFrom Spring Hill, FL, second time we've received this scam postcard attempting to deceive you into calling their business.
- Anne CashReceived card in mail with large type "WATER UPDATE." Back of card said to call within 72 hours, as they were unable to reach me by phone or in person. Card said hours of operation were 8-6 Mon-Fri. I called and called and called and no one answered at 5, 5:05, 5:10 and 5:15 pm on a Fri. afternoon. No answering machine, no voice mail, just someone sounding like an operator who said no one was answering so try the call again later. YEAH, RIGHT. Like all I have to do is dial and re-dial this crummy number! I have no earthly idea what company this is, but sure wish I did.
- Steve D replies to Ed OThanks for the info....... I received the postcard today. This site is a good place to learn about all of the scam's out there!
- Jason M.Received an orange card with the same wording as listed by several others. Did not call the number, but looked it up to see what I could find. Thanks to those who posted about it being a scam for saving me a call.
Spring Hill, FL - Gerald H.Got the same card. Thanks for starting this thread.. saved me a call..
Gerald
Spring Hill, Florida - RCStill happening in Spring Hill FL 10/1/2010. Don't call the number!
- Caller: Water Department
- Tom| 3 repliesThis company is a scam!!! They should be prosecuted!!! Some one needs to call one of the investigative news show to expose them and run them out of business! I got a “sample bottle” from them. I know better than to trust any of the water filter crooks. I used medical grade sterile water and filled the test bottle. As I expected they found all types of “contaminants” in the sterile water that I supplied them. When I told them what I had done, they would no longer talk to me or answer any of my questions.
Every one should do this just to waist the companies time and money!!!- Call type: Telemarketer
