The do not call registry is not the same thing as the do not call list. The registry is a national thing that only prevents telemarketing calls. When a company you deal with continuously calls you, you can request to be added to the do not call list or removed from the call list (either works). From that point on, they can not legally contact you (except for, maybe if you stop paying or they want to alert you that someone hacked your account or something) after 24 hours. The Do Not Call List is maintained by each company individually- however, since this is an outsourcing company it's possible that Verizon could still contact you through another contracted company.

I get one call frequently from this number. Sometimes it says he calls from Verizon. Sometimes he hangs up when I say hello. It seems like this is a spam.

Only a phone company could come up with a way to abuse its customers so relentlessly...and anonymously. As others have noted, the Caller ID is "unavailable"--which the callers are, if you don't pick up the phone fast enough. Calls that are unwanted AND discourteous. What a great marketing campaign!

Being a telemarketer is not a great job, its what you do when you run out of options in the job world. And like all jobs, you always get your "Undesireables" that end up working there because noone else will hire them! If you don't like the person you are stuck talking to, ask for a supervisor and tell them if the telemarketer was rude to you or hung up on you, then request to be taken off the calling list. If it doesn't work do it again like they do to you, please be nice, hold your tongue and your anger and chances are you will succeed in ending the unwanted calls.

Login to verizonwireless.com and block that phone number.
I practically screamed at them not to call me again, yet few months later, they started to call again.

Apaprently you don't understand much of how a Telemarketing company operates.  I worked as a Software Engineer for the largest Telemerketing Company in North America.  (You can easily look it up and find out who)

Tey are NOT sitting there dialing numbers, most likely they don't even have a phone at their desk. They just have a computer terminal that is hooked up to their "Autodialer". This piece of hardware makes all the calls for them. The only thing they can do is enter a status code and update your information.  If you tell them yuo're "not home", your number will stay in the queue for next shift.

The autodialer "predicts" how many of it's outgoing calls will be answered and dials that many numbers based on the number of telemarketing reps currently working. This works well in keeping all the reps on the phone and not sitting there waiting for someone to answer. However, this also means that the autodialer is making more calls than the reps can handle, expecting that some go unanswered. If there's a burst of people answering, the autodialer has no available rep to divert the call to, so it just drops you. This is called a "Dial Queue" or "DQ". There's a legal limit for this number, as a percentage of calls dialed, but the telemarketing companies _fudge_ the number to look like it's within legal limits, and when even the fudged number isn't, they come up with some other story for the FCC.

I keep getting phone calls from this number, I don't answer it because it comes up as an unavailable. My feeling is that if they don't want you to know who is calling then they shouldn't expect you to answer.

Verizon, calling to convince me to upgrade over the phone. My contract has run out and I'm due for a new phone which works just fine, so no need to sign just yet.

wierd that this is supposidly a verizon number. we don't have verizon for our personal cells. my husbands company supplies verizon phones, but why would we recieve calls on our home phone? Two today, and usually every few days. I get that people need to make a living but come on.

I'm getting calls EVERY DAY for the past 6 months.  I guess I can't blame them since I've never picked up the phone once (this thread has been extremely helpful).  But if you're not going to leave a voicemail, its not that important of a phone call, am i right!?

Verizon wireless sales call.  I had my name taken off their list but they claim it takes "30 days" to process that request.  That was a week ago, received at least a half dozen calls since then.  Can't wait til that 30-day window is CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
