- Julie| 1 replyI have also been contacted by Jason requesting payment of $471.71. When I said that this was a large purchase that my receptionist had no authorization to make he said it's not that large of a purchase, as if to justify their actions. He actually hung up on me in mid sentence during one of our phone calls then didn't return my phone call until the next day after I called him back with 2 messages left for him. When I explained that I wasn't satisfied and that he had put information on the web listing that misrepresented my company he dropped the price to $235.86 and then $129.00 but only if I paid it within 30 days or it would go up to the original amount. When asked to speak with a supervisor he refused until I kept badgering and then said that they would have to call me back - but couldn't give me the name of the supervisor and also that the $129 offer wouldn't be available if I spoke to a supervisor. I have made a complaint with www.recol.ca and have mailed them a letter from this sites suggestions and we'll see how they respond to this. What a hassel. They need to be reported every chance we get so they stop doing this to legitimate businesses.

- jsprat replies to JulieThe Canadian Media Pages are still at it. Just received a call from a lovely lady wanting to renew our subscription. Apparently our previous advertisement was "complimentary." I think I may try to string them along when they call back next week, lose them on hold, forward them to AR, voice mail, or perhaps conference in "phonebusters." 1 (888) 495-8501
- Michelle De FrancoI received a phone call first thing in the morning one day during the third week of July 2009 from a woman by the name of "Rose". She claimed to be updating info that our company used to advertise on line. She had all the correct information pertaining to our company and asked if our company would like to be added to any other categories to make it easier for potential clients to gain access to our company's profile. I asked her if there was a charge and she told me that it was the same fee as the previous subsciption and that they were only updating their database. I specifically asked her if they were our original on line advertisers as I was not involved with marketing until recently and she said yes as before when anyone googles any thing related to what our company has to offer our company name and all of our contact info would appear making it easy for potential clients to contact us. Well to sum things up I was scammed, they have not ever handled our on line marketing and no one in the office has ever heard of Canadian Media Pages. I was lied to, "Rose" misrepresented herself and when the invoice arrives i will dispute it and not be bullied into paying for something that is useless to me.

- What is happening in the world? We received the CD in the mail and then phone calls have been coming. We received 2 faxes this morning. Both were invoices for an advertisement they claim we "agreed to". The name at the bottom is Andrea Spiker, extension 278. The fax numbers were 514-906-0415 and 514-905-5020.

- dusty joei feel like taking the money they are demanding from my company, buying an airline ticket, going to there office and burning the FK'R down. Seems that that might get them to stop harrassing people. I feel its about time that we deal with these a** holes ourselves and eliminate them from the face of the earth!!!

- Anonym| 3 repliesJust an update regarding this scum:
Posted back on July 28th that they were trying to get paid for something we never wanted. I sent the form letter (found above) to phone busters and RCMP (copied Mediapages) and suprise: we received a letter saying we owed nothing more and we could keep the CD.
Amazing what a litle heat will do.
Also wanted to point out to George Rowley that Canpages is a legit business providing a hard copy phone book. Canadian Media Pages is a business based on fraud. The two have nothing to do with one another.
Thanks for all the help and remember NEVER PAY these bums.- Caller: Canadian Media Pages

- Notelemarketing replies to KateIf you have received a call from Canadian Media Pages asking if you want to renew, this is a SCAM. They tell you that you are in their database which is better know as the phone book. Just to clarify the phone book is their database. The one and only way to get these calls (and all telemarketers / scammers) to stop, is to call their TOLL FREE 866-358-3003 hotline from a wall of payphones. For every 1 call they make to you, call them 100 times from a wall of payphones in a mall (with 5 -6 payphones it should only take a few minutes). They pay $.50 for the phone call plus long distance charges 100 times over. This works every time!

David Freedman - THANK YOUJust got a call from these people and I had no clue who they were so i googled them and This site was the first to come up --- THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I continued to talk to the man IAN... and even confirmed his phone number DO NOT TELL THESE GUYS ANYTHING. Thanks to thie website --- I ope a lot of people get saved just like I did.
Cheers. - JimThey called at first trying to sell me on a web page and I thought it could help my business so I listened to her speel and when it turned to payment options she asked for my credit card number of which I have none. She then got very frustrated with me saying you dont have a visa I said no I only use debit then she says does your debit card have a visa symbol on it I said no then told her I am not interested anyway. Then she calls my wife saying I had already signed up for this crap and needed to renew the contract then sends us an invoice for 399.00 plus hst and a cd. The next step we are taking is directly to the RCMP Fraud division and if that doesnt work I am going to visit them in person with my rottweiller and rifle to see if we can come to terms.

- Member of Federal Ombudsman of Canada| 1 replyCanadian Media Pages is a telemarketing company situated in Montreal Quebec Canada. They are headed by a joint ownership which run the operation at 6875 Decarie Blvd. Suite 200 Montreal, Quebec, H3W 3E4.
It seems as if this establishment is a member of the BBB of Canada which is a cover for there fraudulent activities. They have a host of phone reps who relentlessly call companies making assumptive pitches towards the employees. They inform the client that they are calling to update there listing in the business directory for the upcoming year.
Now it should be known that none of these companies have any prior history with Canadian Media Pages, it's a unrecorded cold call insinuating that they have prior business history with them. They do indicate a price at the ending of there presentation however they most often do NOT speak with authorized personal nor do they come clean if they were asked if they had an account with them in the past. We get the " I don't have that information, but I do see you are in the database" statement. In honesty, the database can be found everywhere, just look on the internet.
We went along with the false sale and was later followed by a second phone conversation from a lady named "Rose" who informs us the call is being recorded. She then goes over the physical address, and asked me if I am authorized for the purchase... Now when we first had the call we told her NO.
We were then transferred back to the original account rep Muslima, (Remember to take down their names to file any report!) who then asked us if we had any questions. We told her that we were not authorized to make such a vast purchased $399.99. She then continued to push the overly aggressive pitch unless I made obliged to say yes. I then was told that shipping would call yet again, (this is to make sure they obtain an audio of the client saying yes to authorized. If not said they have no ability to collect on any payment.)
I further wanted to see just how far the length of the word twisting would go I declined "Rose" shipping again. It was followed by the same lady Muslima who was almost at this point rude over the phone. Keep in mind that these are TSRs asking for your business, they need-not be rude to anyone. Finally we agreed to the sale and awaited the invoice.
Roughly a month later a $471.71 bill had arrived. I later called (Marlene ext 281)to ask what this is and to have proof of pass history with the company, which was told to me by the lady rep I got in the first unrecorded call. They told us they have the audio phone conversation I had with Rose to play back.
That basically is the only hook they have, so we paid the amount with a 10% discount. We were also told we would not be getting another phone call from Media Pages. This was a false verbal agreement as only 3 months later our officers received.
We got a call from a "Tina" who spoke to us in circles on how this is our second quarterly directory of the year. The idea of Canadian Media Pages is to repeatedly charge their clients over a period of a year, some establishments have been hit 4 times in one fiscal year.
False advertising from an advertising company that states their ad is good for 2 years. The same procedures went through twice over, and in the week our offices just paid the invoice. We received our third call (this yet another cold call from a "Savita". Basically stating that she was calling to updated our advertising. We then told her we had an ad out with Media Pages. Our officer asked they speak with the manager, a lady by the name of Karen Batten called and apologized, she sounded nervous and did not have many answers to our questions, she affirmed us that no further called to our establishment would be made. Our station never heard back from her or the other two sales ladies afterwords.
We realize that this is a lot of data to absorb for company owners. However it is a must read to prevent fraud. This company along with others are closely being monitored by phone-busters Canada along side the Competition Bureau. The owner of has his share of run ins with the authority so it would be wise to stay clear of these calls and just call your local police department.
We have made great progress in our findings. Knowing how the operation works, knowing the names and backgrounds of the owners, managers, and yes even the sales persons. This investigation is on going but requires patience. The department will continue to advise and warn the public upon any further wrong doing of this company. We request you all continue to help us as well by posting, calling phones-busters and contacting your local police department.- Caller: Canadian Media Pages

- HeatherWe got hit the first time several months ago by falling for their story of 'renewing our subscription' - when I tried to return the CD, it was sent back to me saying I needed a return approval number, which of course I couldn't get. I paid the first invoice and called them saying NEVER call us again. However we still get calls about once a month from different names - Rose and Monica are quite common (their number is blocked now, comes up 'unknown') - and they say they are closing out our file per my request, but there is a final bill for the last year's subscription. When I tell them I have written proof that all has been paid in full and there is nothing further oweing they get flustered and say, oh we'll check into that, or they hang up mid call. The frustrating thing is they don't identify themselves right away and by the time they do I'm so angry they pretty much ruin my day every time they call.

- brianc| 6 repliesAppears that Canadian Media Pages is still as active as ever...
The call I received yesterday was from Teresa, who sounded convincing enough, asking me to authorize a 2 year subscription to their Business Directory for $479.97
I asked for an estimate/quote to review, and received a fax with pricing and request for approval - again all looked legitimate.
While I was set to decline just based on the fact that the service offers no value to us, I thought I would check out the company's web-site anyway.
That's when I found these stories and I am glad I did...that is nearly $500 that I have many other worthwhile uses for...
