I received an invoice for $476.96 today. I called their number, told "Marlene" i'm not interested because the original telemarketer lied and said i'd done business with their company before, she said she'd call me back......that was only about an hour ago.....
I checked with the BBB and they've been listed since June 2009 as an accredited business with a 'B' rating and ZERO(??!!!??) complaints. How is this possible?!?! Shouldn't people be complaining to the RCMP as-well-as the Better Business Bureau? I know I will as soon as I hear back from these scammers. Let's warn others every way we can.

PS. Thanks to this website and everyone who posted with a warning, i'm $477 less-poor because of it.

in response to BBB not having any complaints on Canadian Media Pages, note that i sent in a complain to BBB about them.  BBB then replied saying "we regret to inform you that your BBB cannot process your complaint.  The case has been reviewed and was found to contain issues that are out of your BBB purview.  Your complaint would be best handled by Consumer Business Services and/or Industry Canada."  
Besides, better off contacting Phone Busters, or the RCMP.  I just don't answer "unknown caller" anymore.

This company is a complete scam.  I got totally taken in by them like many of you here.  I looked them up on the Better business Bureau Website and yet they have no complaints lodged against them.  PLEASE REPORT THESE PEOPLE IF THEY HAVE SCAMMED YOU - GO TO WWW.OTTAWA.BBB.ORG AND REPORT THEM.  You can also report them with Phone busters by going to www.phonebusters.com.  They need to be held accountable for their actions.  The more people that report them the more closely monitored they will be and the less likely it is that they will continue to get away with this.  Please if you have been scammed by them - REPORT IT.

They tried to scam me.  I wish I had seen this page first and I would have totally hung up on them.  But they sold me the whole "you need to renew your subscription" story.  They told me they were sending out the directory and I could review it.  They called me back to confirm that I wanted to received the directory and to confirm our address.  They recorded this call and later used it to try to blackmail me into paying the bill.  

If you get scammed by Canadian Media Pages - DO NOT PAY THEM.  I faxed their company at 1-877-358-5525 and e-mailed them at info@canadianmediapages.com and sales@canadianmediapages.com.  They kept trying to call me back and talk to me on the phone - DO NOT TALK TO THEM ON THE PHONE!  Put it in writing outlining how they have deceived you and what you were told - who you spoke to and when.  Tell them that you are documenting all of your correspondence.  And you want them to contact you in writing so you have documentation of what they have to say.  Then if it comes down to it threaten them with the RCMP, RECOL (www.recol.ca) phonebusters (www.phonebusters.com)and Operation Mirage with the Canadian Competition Bureau (http://www.bureaudelaconcurrence.gc.ca/eic/si ... 071.html)and/or the Better Business Bureau (WWW.ottawa.bbb.org).  They got sick of me faxing and e-mailing that they responded in writing by cancelling my account and zeroing out our invoice.  I bugged them so much that they actually asked me to leave them alone!!!

Update.......About a month ago 'Marlene' left me a voicemail (which I ignored), then she called again a few days later and said I owed them the outstanding balance because the CD was already shipped...and I was on their registry...blah, blah, blah.....I told her to shove-it and hung up. She hasn't called back since (knock-on-wood)
About two weeks ago I received a renewal letter from the BBB......I called them right away and asked why I should bother renewing considering that an obvious scam company is accredited with them (with a 'B' rating no-doubt). I gave them this website addy + the one for Phonebusters......They looked into it, called me back and said because Canadian Mediapages was in Quebec all they could do was forward the info to their governing body (head office)
Anyway, it's a start....
Will update when I hear anymore...

2nd Update...........just looked on the BBB website again and now Canadian Mediapages has "No Rating"..........hmmmm.........Promising so far........

3rd Update.........Received another paper invoice a few days ago; which I obviously won't be paying.........Then today, 'Marlene' called again....I bit my tongue and followed the advice of fellow posters from this site and told her if they contact me again i'd call the RCMP. Her tune changed very quickly and she said she'd cancel the invoice..........I'm crossing-my-fingers that this is finally over...
BTW, BBB still has Canadian Mediapages listed as an accredited business with 'No Rating' and I still haven't mailed them my renewal cheque.

I too just recieved a call from these guys. I was not sure what they where talking about because i just subscribed to a Canadian Oilfield and Service Directoty. Not knowing if it was a brance or something. The lady mentioned a charge of $429.99 then i knew something was up. I googled Canadaian  Media pages and found this forum. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum and thier information. These people scamming is crap.

I laughed at your title, becuase I told my co-worker, "they must think I am a Dumb receptionist and forget that I already told them I know they are a SCAM".  My story is like many of the others.  They asked us to renew a directory listing with them, so asked where she was calling from to check the vendor list.  I said Canadian Media Pages is not listed as a vendor we have paid.  She said, that cause last year was a free trial.  She asked to speak to the owner.  I told her the owner never has and never will answer cold calls (seriously what owner does??).  A few months later Canadian Media Pages called again with the exact same story/ lies, so I googled them and read this site indicating they are a SCAM (thanks godness for the internet).  I told them I know they are a scam, and yet they still continue to call.  First of all how stupid to call someone who has already identified you as a scammer.  Second, these people should be ashamed of themselves. How can you look at yourself in the mirror. Get a real job and stop trying to steal money from hardworking people.  Do NOT pay these low lives!!!!  Canadian Media Pages is a SCAM!

Well, it is the year 2010 and this scam is still going on.  Same deal, no change.  They have harassed my company for 1 year.  I can't believe they can continue to operate, obviously people are paying these invoices.  I want to keep this intranet info going as their business has continued to flourish.

I told them I was not interested in the second year and I was led to believe that the initial payment was for two years, she got a little upset and told me thats not the way it works and I signed on for two years, I told her to prove it to me so she should be faxing me later today with proof. I feel like an idiot for getting sucked in to this scam. Anyway out of sending them more money?

Call from Allen Roseberg - 866-358-3003 Ext. 279 demanding payment for an outstanding invoice.  As in past we rejected paying them for their "services" - directory listing, etc.  He pushed until I mentioned reported them th PhoneBusters and quickly agreed to cancel the invoice and not call again.  He also threatened that he'd sue me if I "put his name on the internet".  I don't have the exact court date yet!!!

When posting information about someone,one should provide details as to who the individual is as they may be afraid to be dicovered, in this instance the individuals full information is as follows.
