Yeah we got one too. 866-381-0453 Total scam they asked for social security and credit number. We just got a new phone a few days ago. DON'T GIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION NEVER. It's not a collection agency it's a scam. I guess the solution is try and block and if can't then switch phone number through your company.

My daughter has been receiving multiple calls daily from this and another 866 number.  She does not answer unknown numbers and they leave no messages.  I contacted the REAL Capitol One and explained that my daughter does not have any dealings with their bank and asked if these numbers were indeed legit Capitol One callers.  I was told by a supervisor in customer service that both of these numbers are actually the collections department and they are attempting to collect a debt from someone other than my daughter, and that calls will stop within three days.  THEY ARE NOT A SCAM!  You should check with the bank and make sure your ID has not been stolen!

This is the second call from Capital One I've received in a month (first time from this phone number), based on what I've found when I looked up the numbers online.

I got a Capital One card two months ago. My required minimum payment is $15 a month, but I pay $200 a month, more than ten times the minimum amount! I don't understand why they'd be calling me, and I won't answer my cell phone for an unknown number. From what I've read, they're trying to collect overdue debts, but I don't have any! If this is a fraud scam, it can't be a coincidence they'd start calling just weeks after I opened an account -- they have to be affiliated with Capital One somehow.

They could be trying to get you to pay less - and pay all that interest.  Or charge more and pay interest on it.

Tell the caller "Put me on your do not call list."  Use exactly those words.
There's an older law, several years older than the DoNotCall list law, that says they aren't allowed to call you after you ask them to stop.  You can sue them if they continue to call, but I don't know how or where to file that suit.

This is one of the many Capitol One phone numbers.  They call on average once every 45 minutes every day from 8:05 am to 8:50 pm.  They are so persistent that if you block a number they just use another number to call from or they change their caller ID.  Some come through as Capitol One, while some come through as restricted.  So far in December they used 11 different numbers.  Now in 5 days of January they have added 5 more numbers. And now they use SIGNET BANK-VA (800)955-6600.  When you call back it's Capitol One.  I'm looking into a harassment solution now.

I work 2 jobs and pay taxes. I work one of these jobs in retail grocery store. You should see how your taxes on welfare food stamps are being spent! They buy the best of everything like $50.00 Tbones and ribeyes and the best shrimp $14.00 a pound! Tell me this is fair I cant aford it so why should they? I think they should be limited and monitored as to what they buy. And I think if they arent working should go around their towns and pick up trash! If they have to get out and do free work I bet they will get a job!!!!! And yes I have been getting these calls as well.

They repeatedly call my office number at several different numbers a day.  I will list a few below:

    1-866-381-0453
    1-954-522-4917
    1-281-208-1093
    1-503-547-8300
    1-631-205-0520
    1-800-955-6600
    1-260-423-4603
    1-508-209-2334
    1-866-929-5306

WOW!  I didn't realize they were using so many different numbers.  They always leave an automated message from "Linda" with an "exciting opportunity from Capital One".

Sounds like this is Capitol One according to other submissions. I've been getting these calls for the past couple of months. However, when I pick up, no one responds and the line is open. So I hang up and an hour or so later they call back - I don't bother answering it any more. I returned the call once, but no one would answer. It just rang - I let it ring 10 times. So today I went to the National Do Not Call Registry and logged a complaint. Maybe this will work to halt any more calls.

Received numerous calls from this number looking for my ex-husband's wife!!!  We have been divorced for more than 25 years, so I have no clue how they connected me to them.  I have a different last name and live in a different state.  I've only had my present telephone number for 14 years so there is no logical connection unless someone is using my information for their own purposes.  When I called the number, the recording stated that it was Capital One.  This appears to be a working Capital One number. I was told that my number would be removed from their database.  I'm still waiting.  Stay tuned.

There are many working poor and other families who NEED food stamps to keep food of the table.  While there are some who abuse the system, you cannot conclude that everyone is doing it. Please tell me how you propose to "limit and monitor" how people spend their food dollars.  Should they only be allowed to purchase the cheapest of everything because you cannot afford more expensive meat cuts?  Should their shopping be limited to only "discount" grocery stores?  I agree that all able-bodied persons should work; however, each situation is different.  Those receiving food stamps and other benefits are qualified by their local authorities and must meet the qualifying cirteria.

If you feel so strongly about this, report abuse when you see it, if possible.  After all they are only hurting themselves and their families when they squander their benefits.  After that move on and forget about it.  You've done what you can do to remedy the abuse.

    866-381-0453  - Capital One - is not a telemarketer.

It's Capital One letting you know that you missed or are late on a  payment.

Just called them, found out I missed and talked to them about it, explained why I missed and they removed the "missed/late payment fee" and I just paid my minimum and moved on.

How nice is that?  DO call them back and DO explain to them why you missed the payment.  They will help you out, believe it or not.

I imagine that the people who say 'these people keep harrassing me' are in the rears big time on all of their bills.   Been there myself and here's a bit of advice - take the calls.  Talk to the people.  More times than not, a little communication goes a long way towards the company helping you to manage your debt a lot better.  They'll remove fees, they'll work out a payment arrangement, etc.

Now, if you swear you don't have a credit card with them ... then you better dam* well call them back because there's a good chance that someone (daughter, son, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, brother, sister) used your information to get a credit card.  I've had that happen to me as well.  All they have to do is request that they be sent the bill/statement electronically by email or set up an online account.

I hope this hasn't happened to any of you because -especially if it's family or friends who do this to you - the smallest problem is going to be getting your credit back on track or getting the debt removed from your name.  The bigger problem is the broken trust in the relationship.
