I mean I know people get behind, times are hard now a days. You should not have to worry though every time the phone rings that its Capital one calling again.  My husband has one and he is behind, they are insistent on a time frame to make payment. He tried to use the payment protection where if you lose your job or whatever you can get help for a little bit, with no avail so now they have to just wait until we can do it.  I mean we have to keep electric paid and rent paid and water paid, we cant have either of those go off.  We need phone for jobs, but the phone is becoming more annoying and I started blocking the numbers they are calling from but still they come through.  I'm ready to have my husband send them a cease and desist letter, if they dont just give us a little time with out calling 10 times a day all the way up to 8:50pm!  I save them all, they leave no messages which is fine other wise they'd take all my machines space!  

All I can say is if Capital one sees these posts, you need to realize that a lot of us now have no jobs or are making very, very little money!  Come up with a solution to help us with out continuing to add fees making the debt grow at such a large rate!  Payments were made on time and before due date previously for almost a year then suddenly they just stop and your informed you need to use that protection plan you been paying for, and your given an 800 number, then another one, and a third and you realize you been paying this almost 5.00 a month for around a year and for what?  Just plain annoyed I know he owes a debt, he knows he owes a debt and they know it. Hubbys not here most the time in college and working, so you are harassing me, not him! I have no credit cards with any one or any credit.  I chose not to there is no point in over paying so leave me the hell alone!

I do want to add that the person who says this is a scam and they are phishing could very well be right also.  I never talk to these people I just put in their numbers on Google and end up here!  With all these new web sites regarding free credit reports we use.  Well if you have any kind of virus or something that records pages or what your doing, it could see that you have something on your credit or someone's credit who lives in your home.  This could begin the calls never know, people these days are sneakier then ever and its pretty fukin sad!   All it takes is a paid membership to a site like beenverified or intelluis and bam you got a list of phone numbers for person, previous address's and other information including birthdays.  I think these sites are [***]! Sure to find a lost family member or loved one but to just be able to search anything like that is crazy!

Yes - you have to send any requests for no-contact or with specific instructions regarding calls to them in writing.  Otherwise, the government and the bank will not acknowledge this request.  Unless you send it in writing (I would also get a return receipt) you have no leg legally to stand on.

No it isn't a scam.  It is actually Capital One.

And yes, they can call your cell phone.  Any number you give them as a contact is valid; there are no laws stating they can't call cells, especially in this day where people have gotten rid of their land lines and only use cell phones.  What you CAN'T do is put your cell phone on the Do Not Call National Registry - they are still not set up to handle it.

This number has been calling for several weeks... I answer  and no one is there...

If the bill collector keeps calling your cell phone, particulary after you've notified him that it's not a convenient time or place to take the calls, or that you are incurring usage charges for the calls, you can sue the collector in Small Claims Court for damages. I work collections, As well they cant leave a message on cell #'s (FDCPA)

They get family members #'s from credit reports (fyi) if you want this to stop tell them that you don't know this person...to remove ur # (simple)They just want you to give contact info on the person they are calling for, its called 3rd party probing

Your phone company should be able to give you instructions. With a Comcast landline, you just press a few numbers on your phone to access the feature, turn it on, and enter in the # to block.  I have Sprint, and just go online, sign in, go to Preferences, select to block data or voice or both, enter the # to be blocked, Save.

Please stop calling me i do not know who may have given you my number but i would appreciate it if the calls wouldn't continue.

Yes, Ignore their calls and YOU call them on your terms and ask what is going on. Call and talk to the people you made the payment arrangements with. Not the people calling you!

I have recently been laid off (with no chance of return as the company is going under). I had no Idea that Capital One bought out 2 other Cards that I own! You talk about phone calls! 12 a day and when I answer I have no idea which one they are calling on and then they claim they have no notations up on my account regarding being on unemployment!!!

That's the one of the reason  why we NEVER pay for anything online, any info in web is see-through novadays.
Talking about this calls - I've started receive them on my new (seems that's is not new) number, the previous owners  get rid of  it for some reason. If they were clients of Capital One I can guess they own the bank, or either their info was stolen online.  My guess is scammers use that tactic because they well aware of bank methods and use this for phishing for the info from not smart people.
I never pick up these calls unless it's a number I know, so eventually they stopping (being like this for a few months. My advice - just ignore)

+ Nor me nor my family never had any business with Capital One, also. Another calls with live person on the other and - we can assume it's a real scammers (all bank calls are robot) Small notice - I get spam  from Capital one in mail  box for years, never open them and just wondering - where they did get my address. I moved and still getting them. So looks like it's a scam, too, for me.

These people (Companies) are absolutely annoying; I cannot believe how many phone calls I have received from them over the last several months. After finding this forum and Reading all of the other folks that have have had the same issues with this phone number / Capital One, that is if they really are Capital One.  I don't know why the government doesn't take down Organizations/companies like this? Rather than going after people like us that do our best to Pay our bills, taxes, other laws, restrictions, etc.

HERE'S MY ADVICE:  Send a letter to your Congressmen & Block the phone number, which is what I did, and haven't Gotten one call from them since.

get on the national do not call list and report them. If they keep calling they can be fined.

I don't have the problem of bill collectors calling me (I have in the past, but no more as my bills are caught up), however, the telemarketers would NOT stop calling my cell phone! They call anytime they want and about anything from selling stuff to me to "lowering my credit card interest" or my mortgage (which I do not even have!  I called my cell phone carrier and they blocked many numbers for me 2 weeks ago. I haven't received ANY calls from any of those companies at all since then.  In fact, I haven't received ANY telemarketer calls since then.
