I keep getting these weird calls from (866) 478-8892 and a (661) number which I found out was to the jail in Castaic California. I don't know anyone in jail and it keeps making me worry.

I received a text message from: 23333 on 3-5-07 7:27:24AM.  The message stated:  Reply Y NOW to get the info on the # you are trying to reach Locator Srv $9.99/month+std msg fees for 20 lookups/month.Support/Terms?  www.smsvw.com

I was billed $25 on checking account and called number and the Reply Y NOW email message came back, after the voice mail at 800 number said to press any number on phone. What is this?

well, my family member got the same call as everyone else is , I guess it worries ya at first untill ya find this page.  They got 3 phone calls and they are all from a jail, not cool.

This number has called me three times today! The third time i picked it up and the caller hung up!

Recorded message stating an inmate from the county jail is trying to make a collect call please enter your CC# to accept.
This looks like a scam to me!
When I redialed it asked if I was interested in a phone number liik up service for 9.99 a month.

I received a call on my cell phone from this number for the first time at 9:30 AM today and again at 2:30 PM.  When I called back the number from another phone, I got a message that it is disconnected and no further information is available.  I missed the call, and they didn't leave a message.

This number called my cell phone this morning and it was to accept a collect call from the Highland county detention facility. I live in Florida and this Highland county place is in Ohio....I just hung up

This number calls me constantly and when I pick up the phone, it hangs up on me.

This call said that I had a collect call from someone in the Saint Lucie County Jail. I don't know anyone currently in the Saint Lucie County Jail.

sounds bogus, esp cuz they're asking you to purchase minutes w/ your credit card

tina I ordered a service called netlink for an isp provider when i dialed the 1-800-952-1233 it left me a message to get the new number to netlink I should press y to receive the new number and then it ttext message me back to get more info on the number I am trying to get go to this web wwwsmsvw.com. And here I am, all I want to do is cancel have been getting the jerk around for 2 months now and no internet through netlink finally got another isp. does any one else have this problem? They never called me until i called the old number I had for netlink above.

I got a phone call around 9:30am Monday morning from (866)478-8892 and I was sleepy but remember when I answered it said I have a collect call from a correctional facility (it said the same facility that my boyfriend is at), and to press a button to accept. So I pressed it and then it said something  like my phone can't accept collect calls and to call some 800# with my credit card # to setup a prepaid account.  I assumed it was a mistake by Global Tel-Link because they mess up on my prison collect calls many times by saying I don't have a pre-pay account when I do.   Good thing I didn't call back right away and give them my credit card#, I was soo sleepy that I turned the phone off and went back to sleep.

Well this call sounds innocent because it sounded very similar to the collect calls I have received before I had a prepaid acct set up.  Later on, I found out my honey never called at that time and when I called back the 866-478-8892 number it said that this number has some new information and in order to receive it, I must press any button.  So I pressed the button and it said it will send me a text message with the information, then it hung up.  The text message is from # 23333 and says ""Reply Y Now to get the info on the # you are trying to reach. Locator Srvc $9.99/month+std msg fees for 20 lookups/month. Support/terms? www.smsvw.com".

If you have a loved one in prison, be very careful because this sounds identical to legit prison collect calls. The legit calls also tell you to call their customer service number to setup a prepaid acct with your credit card.  So if you want to know of some legit companies for prison collect calls they are: Global Tel-Link (Global Advance Pre-Pay), PCO (TeleNet), CBS, MCI, and Inmate Phone Services.

i got a phone call from 1866 4788892 and the phone hong up be for saying  who was the call from and i want to know

just got a call from 866-478-8892.  The prerecorded message said an inmate from Gwinnett Co. Detention Center had placed a collect call to my number.    I hung up once they didn't say who had called.

This number was on the back of a van that was hiring, when I called the number I got a text message back, not sure why this happen maybe its some kind of scam.

I got a few calls on my cell from this number, it probably tried about 3 times in the past couple of days.  Then I get home from work and it's also on my home phone caller ID.  Strange.  I never had a chance to answer and I'm on the DNC list for both phone numbers.  When I called the number back it directed me to call some other number.  I hung up because I called from work and didn't want to cause any problems in case it was some type of scam.  I did not realize so many other people were getting these calls too.

I wonder if this is a scam by GTL themselves???  I have an account with them because I have a loved one in jail but whenever they call a local number from the jail comes up on my phone identifying it as a pay phone.  I am very leary about GTL because I had problem with them taking 2 weeks to post a payment after they had already cashed my check.  It wasn't until I filed a complaint with the BBB that they decided to act on the several phone calls I made to them with proof that the check was cashed by them.  They are probably trying to get me back.  Please beware.

i have hung up on this call several times , and it has just come to my attention that 159.95 is missing from my bank account . my bank gave me a call back number
1-800-430-0572 . i called the number and was replied to in a text message ,saying to reply y now well if youre here you know the rest. be careful they took my money
right out of my bank account

hung up as soon as voicemail was activated
