- Tygerkat replies to GeorgeThen why are you here? Do you often look up known phone numbers?
- Mark L.Had a message wanting credit card information and there was no information on who the call was from

- Debbie NI received a text message from AMEX stating my card was being used and it may be a fraud. They gave this # to call: 8888005234. I was suspicious knowing that AMEX never texts anyone. I called AMEX’s number on the back of my card and asked for the fraud dept. the person there said this was a fraudulent text and was glad I did not call that number..

- Bergie replies to mandyI just called the number back, and hit zero........no dice,it says that I entered an incorrect account number and again asks for my last 6 digits of the account. I had my card denied last night, tried to call the number on the back, which did not have any way to get to a fraud department, checked the account on line, did not see any incorrect charges, but since the card is shut down and I can't get to someone I know I can trust yet, I'll call them when they reopen Tuesday, Monday is Veterans Day. Obviously nobody can currently use the card now, but I did find it odd that after logging into my account, there was nothing saying that I needed to contact anyone or noting any problems. Also, no way to contact anyone with the company. I will post back as to what my card issuer tells me. One thing for sure, my response will be complete facts, no opinion. Yes the card does have some kind of problem, yes these people did robocall me, no I could not get a live person, no I could not reach anybody with my card thru the number on the back of the card. Sadly scams have become so bad that we all have to be very careful, remember to think first, scammers try to get you to give up information by creating a sense of urgency to the situation. If it doesn't sound or feel quite right, don't do it!!!

- EdThis is a legitimate fraud prevention call; to prove it call the number on the back of your credit card. You will be routed to the same people in fraud prevention. They blocked an out of state transaction and froze my card; I called the back of the card number and enabled my account.

- MikeHuntleton replies to JibbleBefore calling someone else a moron, perhaps make sure to read the date under the name your replying to, as not to transfer the name onto yourself next time.
- credit card user replies to whyileit is a scam
- Delbert D.Was suspicous the moment I heard the phone number. Those with "0" or "1" as the 2nd digits are CELL PHONES. Don't think a credit card issuer would use one of those for their "Fraud Services Dept.", do you?
- Caller: "Fraud Services"

- ManoI was suspicious about this call. I called my CU using the number on the back of my card. They confirmed it is from their Fraud department. The representative also confirmed there was indeed suspicious activity. I will reccomend always calling the number on your card - as numbers can be spoofed.
- Caller: Credit Union
- Call type: Valid
- nicknI called back, gave the info requested (last 6 digits of cc#, 3-digit code on back, last 4 digits of my SSN) and they listed transactions going back from the current day. No way a scammer would know where I had used my card and for how much.

- David HGot a call from 866-518-0213. Beware readers, there are some other phone numbers swirling around in this thread that *might* really be fraudulent. But I called my credit union, via their regular number, and they verified that the number is from them. And they took care of what was a legitimate suspicious activity, for which they had put a hold on my account. I had made a large purchase from apple and that triggered some alert in their system.
I do agree with several posters that a call from a random number, that is NOT the number the credit union puts out there, is bad form. I would concur with the advice given by several posters -- call your credit card or credit union directly with the number on the back of your card. Never call a random number left on your answering machine or voice mail.- Caller: Fraud department

- Debbie replies to RJ| 1 replyWhat you have said is bull [***]. I have contacted my credit union after a call from this number and it is NOT legit!
- MikeHuntleton replies to DebbieI doubt that person, who posted back in 2011, will ever read your rantings. Just so you know, not everyone is called by the exact same caller, so while your caller might have been a scammer spoofing the number, that persons might have been what they posted 9 years ago.
