i am also on disability ill and not employable. i think these people keep calling so that it provides job stability for them. no one to call then no job.

emerald....i know you wrote your post several months ago but anyway no they cannot garnish your disability payments but this is what a lot of people do wrong..
your getting ssn deposited into your account every month...that's okay..
now you get a check for some monies say one hundred dollars and you deposited in the same account as your ssn then they can freeze your bank account because the law firm says your making money besides your ssn...never ever deposited any monies into your account where the ssn is being deposited and you can check this out with your bank.
what you have to do is get another checking account under somebody else name and you deposited those checks in that bank and use the debit card to withdraw the funds when you need it

Absolutely do not answer this number.  I had the misfortune of speaking to one of the most hateful and rude women I have ever talked to... ever.   Yes this is from a collection agency... medical debt.  I explained to the woman that I had already worked out a payment plan with the hospital and had been making the payments on time every month (I had surgery ... I think the total bill was somewhere around $23,000, and after insurance paid, I owed roughly $1,500.  Anyway the woman then went on to say that I was not supposed to pay the hospital... I was supposed to be paying them... (BS) and that she needed my banking information over the phone so that they could the payments directly from my checking account.  Well, I of course said no, I absolutely was not going to give any information over the phone period and that I would continue to pay the hopsital directly.  Then things got really ugly.  Before it was over she was practically screaming over the phone about how they were an authorized debt collection agency ... that they were secure... that they could ruin my credit... etc... etc... if I didn't give her the information she wanted.  Needless to say, I hung up!    They have several different "toll free" numbers they use... so when in doubt.... just don't answer.  You'll save yourself a lot of grief!

THEY ARE SMART [***] THEY CALL STATING THEY WILL CALL EVERYDAY OF THE WEEK I SAID BE MY GUESS. I HAVE A REAL BAD HEART AND CANCER PATIENT AND THEY CALL WITH A MACHINE HOLDING MY LINE  OPEN I TRY TO CUT THEM OFF AND IT RINGS BACK TO THEM WHAT IF I NEEDED 911???????? HELP

consumer protection should be able to assist you with the answer to that question - however they made refer you to speak with Legal Aid  as this made be a legal question and not a consumer protection question

I got 3 phone calls in a row from this number. I refuse to pay my medical bills because they are from when I had my first daughter 5 years ago. I had medicad and they were supposed to pay it in full. No one told me that the doctor that delivered my daughter wouldn't be accepting medicad. I am not paying the bill because I was charged from a doctor that was at the local hospital. Someone should have let me know that my childs birth was not going to be covered in full. And this number needs to quit calling me. What has happened to peoples rights? My daughters birth was $10000. I signed up on medicaid to avoid the bills. I also went and seen this doctor for my postpartum check up. The receptionist took my card and said it was approved and medicad would cover the whole thing. LIES. The doctors office visit was $1000 dollars for a simple postpartum check up. I have called debt collectors back, and all they say is I need to get medicad to cover it or pay it. Very annoying. Do we not have rights anymore? And why can numbers like 866-861-5848 harrass us?

These fools are bill collectors that keep calling me looking for "Monica".  They keep telling me that they are going to remove my number, but guess what? Ain't happened yet. I am now going to start calling them every other day looking for "Monica".  Maybe she is hiding up there.  She certainly doesn't live with me.  Wonder how long it take them to get tired of me calling them?

They call for someone we don't know from Adam's house cat.  Won't say who they are or where they are and won't take WE DON'T KNOW the person or stop calling.  Reported to the goverment no joy.

check your state laws on statute of limitations.  You may find that the window to file legal action has passed and the agency is just blowing smoke.

I receive 3 to 4 calls a week from these people. Every time they call they ask for a different person. I am going to start keeping a log of names and times that they call. As a matter of fact just got 2 calls 5 min apart asking for two different people.

I get calls from this number.  I refuse to answer the phone from numbers I do not know.  They NEVER leave a message.  So they don't want to talk to me that bad is the way I see it.

Keep calling, multiple times per day. As of today, they are calling my cell phone. I do not owe any money, but this is for Medical Revenue Services.
