You act like the bill was owed to you....you didn't have a contract with me and now you purchase debt and try and prey on people in a bad position in the first place.  So you just want to profit on collections and debt of people who are struggling.....dont act like you care either.  If everyone paid there bills you wouldnt have a job so shut your trap.  If you were the original creditor who was out something that would be different but all you are is scum on a pond.

I get that people need to pay their debts and I always pay mines.  This number has called me several times, though, for a person I have never met or known.  Every time they call I tell them the same thing.  I don't know who that person is, there was never a person with that name at this number, and I have no contact information for this person.

They keep calling though and I keep telling them the same thing.  At one point they said that I was responsible for the debt that they were calling for.  At that point I hung up.

I get to gripe because these calls are unwarranted.  It would be different if I actually owed anything but I don't.

This is all fine and good if you actually OWE the debt.  When collectors call and you tell them that the person they are looking for isn't at that number (perhaps they've moved and got a new number, perhaps the info you have is 12 years old because you're collecting 12 year old debts which by the way is time barred in most states) they just keep calling.  They assume you're lieing.  I've had collectors calling my business for others playing games like pretending to have accents (I know because its the same name but one day there's no accent and the next its a horrible Chinese accent).  That just insults my intelligence.  When debt collectors call me to collect debts for my ex-husband and then lie to me about how they got my name, that's wrong.  I actually reported a collector for sending me a notice (for my ex husband) signed by an attorney who was deceased.  When I called them, they lied to me and told me he was in Court.  When I confronted a manager with my knowledge that he was deceased, they confessed that they lied and then agreed to stop calling me and sending me letters.  I reported them anyways for practicing law without a license.

The point is, people who don't owe money and pay their bills get harrassed by bill collectors all the time.  Enjoy making your money, but don't just assume that people are lieing.

All I can say is that this company calls me daily at my work.  Not for me but for someone else here.  I shut them down before they even get started.  I don't take their rude attitudes.  Sure they may think I'm a witch with a B but who cares?  It is the highlight of my day when I can play with their little minds.  They aren't going to get passed me to anyone here.

NOTE TO COLLECTORS: If you call me being rude, I'm going to be rude back.  If you think pretending to be an old friend is going to work, its not.  If you think using accents is going to work --- uh... NOT!  And the second you ask me "do you give them my messages?" I'm going to tell you "NO" because its a place of business.  If you want to reach this person for personal business, call them at home.

Well, in my humble opinion. The person who writes in caps is a very unhappy individual who hates there job. Someone who spue's so quickly and decides to teach the masses w/ such venom needs a check in the head. Not to be rude but life happens. I am sorry but people like this who yell their judgments are those who cannot look w/in. It's easier to see others problems that are familiar to self then there own (pull the moat out of thine own eye?) either way it doesn't matter... I find that those who are angered and judge harshly very soon find themselves in similar situations.... and say, oh crap. I just speak from experience, anything we don't understand or hate (something that intimidates) we eventually find. Well, off my soapbox. Sorry for the trouble that people cause you everyday in not wanting to face you. I wouldn't either. If its anything to say... maybe get a different job?? It obviously bothers you... and PS I am not some big religious freak. I just use my mind and a code of ethics communicating with people. If they want to be "[***]" or "should" on...I guess this is the public forum for you to do so

    Is this a scam?
How do I get them to stop calling?  I have no debt -- mortgage was paid off years ago, no car loans, no credit cards.   I don't live beyond my means -- I pay cash or I don't buy it!
This company calls several times each day.  I don't know what they want -- they are not specific about who I owe money to, just want me to send a check to pay it off!  WHAT??  What kind of scam is this?
I don't have any debt.  How can I owe anyone money if I didn't borrow money or charge anything?
Short of sending a check, how do I make this company stop calling?
    Can anyone advise?

Most collection agencies receive or buy old debts to make money and I really don't think that money goes to the debt as in most cases, the debt has been written off and in my case, the debt is past the statuate of limitation to force a collection. It looks like its just profit for the collection agency. In one case with me, the retail store I supposedly owed went bankrupts some six years before I started getting calls from collection agency. So who is moral?

All I know is I handle all the household finances but he called up was very rude that it was 'personal' for my husband and then left a number. He tried to have me give him my husbands cell number while I had already informed him my husband was at work. This is rather out of the blue we've been out of debt for years and are up todate on all our car and house payments and own no credit cards... I'm sorry but they should be willing to say something to the spouse. At least what the phone call is in reference too or a company they work for. But a name and a number just makes me rather irritated. I did get a hold of my husband he's going to be sure to rip them a new one for being rude to his wife. They want money they have to come to me he makes it he doesn't use it that's my job.

Well my husband called them back this is apparently the same people that tried to call us a 2 years ago about a debt back in '98 that was settled in court back in '98 and paid off and all accounts closed. All this was settled a LONG time ago so yeah as my husband said 'F' them he'll call up his folks as they should still have all those records and if they really want to try and get the $120 out of us they can try to take it to court and then we'll counter sue. If it was something we actually owed on we'd pay it not like it's that much money but we've already fought them once we'll do it again because we're no ones suckers.
