- PG| 4 repliesI had this today too, and after reading these posts decided NOT to call it back, but checked my banking info and I had missed a credit card payment. Don't know if it's a coincidence, but that's what happened to me. I didn't call the number back through
- Caller: RBC
- Pit replies to BayntonIf you know it's legit, why are you here searching? I think you are part of the scam...
- Huey replies to PG| 3 repliesI was getting these calls too and the frequency was not increasing. I never got past the press 1if this is your name. I too am very suspicious about these calls. Then I went online and checked my RBC account and my visa was overdue. =) oops.
I'm not proposing you enter your info on the call. But u should check your account. Maybe something is overdue for u too.
We'll see if the calls stop now that I've made my payment. - Huey replies to Huey| 2 repliesTypo: "Frequency was increasing"
- Huey replies to Huey| 1 replyOk. That seem to have worked. They haven't spammed me all day. Will update next week.
- StoopReceived two calls from this number today (Saturday). A robot voice claiming to be calling from RBC in regard to a personal account, and stated my name. I wasn't sure about the number either, and I couldn't find it it on RBC's website. A search of the internet brought me here. I phoned RBC using a different number from their website; it seems the call was legit, and was regarding a missed credit card payment.
In conclusion then, seems like the number is legit, but if you're unsure you don't need to contact them through that number. You can just phone RBC and they will transfer you to the relevant department as they did with me. In fact, that's what I would still do. :D- Caller: RBC
- NbsThey called but I don't even have a credit card or account with them ... ???
- Skiergirl82 replies to Peter| 1 replyCheck RBC online. It is actually an RBC number; http://www.rbc.com/privacysecurity/ca/alert-automated-call-faq.html
- concerned citizen| 1 replyLook everyone, Its both a legit number used by RBC, and a scam number used by scammers. Scammers can spoof/alter their numbers to appear as any number, that's why you have received calls from 1-234-567-8910 or 666-666-6666 before.
Just be vigilante and don't even pick up any of these calls regardless if you owe or not, the scammers are really good at what they do. If, as the person above said, Bell or another company was indeed selling information what could we do really?- Caller: RBC
- Bonnie replies to concerned citizenI got this robo call too, and I was so very concerned, as are you all. I phoned RBC telephone banking instead, because I knew they were legit. If you do this, have your Client Card available, and get the # from your branch so you will be confident it's legit. Better still, one should call the # on the back of their RBC Visa or Mastercard (the new Shopper's Optimum card). It turns out a payment was missing for Dec. 2015....and we were able to sort out the problem and end the day happy. They will keep calling because they are trying to do a service, but go the other route(s) to find out what it's all about. Merry Christmas.

- Byerly TurkReceived a call from 877 214 5948 evening Dec 18. Thanks to your 800notes, I did not return the call. As one respondent here noted, they even had the gall to say "This is not a telemarking call." (Words to that effect). I had recently received a LEGITIMATE call from BM0 which seemed to be reading from the same script as this scammer, but in this case, the BM0 call was real -- not recorded -- and the caller left her name and times to contact. I still thought it was a scam and ignored it. Eventually the problem was readily straightened out and instructions were left with BM0 to limit contact to postal mail to avoid confusion and establish a paper trail.
Another trend among scammers I've noted is calling on Sundays.- Call type: Telemarketer
- PitWe are two people living here. My wife doesn't bank on RBC. I do both, personal and business, but my registered phone number is different than the one they have been calling. Display doesn't show RBC, but unknown caller
- Lori replies to HueyYou made a payment that's great but I don't think it works that quick! even if you go into the bank to make the payment, it takes a few days. Coincidence the phone calls stop that very same day? I don't think so ..I believe its a scam. I blocked the number
- Fraud SquadPart of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions. Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people. - NickThis call was legitimate. It is RBC visa and didn't ask for any very personal information (I authenticated with my postal code and they had my name). It was a reminder to pay only.
