- nite mare replies to Lilin reading your reply, i guess you are a colletor. hey someone has to do it. but, when tatics are from the 1950. nasty, rude and so on. people get defensive. i have done colletion in my time. and treating people with respect i was able to do my job. the way the people are at marvel, is unaceptable. when you leave a message that you are law enforcement, it bothers me since everyone that serves our country puts their lives out there, and this company abuses that. they go around the law. yes i agree everyone should pay their bills, but someimes things happen! a little understanding

"getto". do not worry. investigators right. they will give you a break for about 5 days before they start calling again. when they call you they will tell you to call them asap, they will leave a message with an ext 111, 112, 119 that tells them who is calling, you don't have to geve them your name. that is a code for the day. chg your number

- Rick in Fl| 1 replyRecived call today at my job. I was on the phone at the time so it went to my voicemail at work. The lady on the end of the phone informed me of a fraud case out of broward county and gave me a case #. I was told that I need to call her back at ex. 113 to resovle this matter or a legal desison would have to be made for me either voluntealy or involunteally. And proceided to tell me what the pentaly for a bad check is in the state of florida. I looked up the case number she said was out of Broward county and there is no such case number filed in the broward county courts. I will call back and make arangments to pay by money order if they will give me an address to mail payment too. I got rid of my checking account months ago and I now pay all my bills by sending money orders. There is a place near me that has free money orders and when I get paid I just go in with my list and buy them and then send them out. THis is the only way I will pay and I belive they have to accept it.

- Janet| 1 replyMultiple calls from this number - all with no voice on the other end. I don't understand why these people find time in their schedules to call me and not speak when I answer. It is getting very disruptive and needs to stop immediately.

- delano26| 6 repliesI was contacted by a Mr. Collins 3 weeks ago and was told he was calling from New York and that an arrest warrant was in a county where I used to live for my arrest. It seems I received 2 pay day loans into my bank account and closed it months later (due to my exboyfriend and I broke up) and he was on my account. So I was told that was fraud and that I could go to jail for that. He gave me 15 minutes to call him back or else he would send a deputy to my work place to arrest me and confiscate my work computer because thats how I obtained the pay day loans and that I would be fired from my job. I didn't have the money, so my dad paid $946 via credit card to keep me supposedly going to jail. Please tell me there is help available for what I have put my dad through. Maybe he can call his credit card and report the payment as fraud? Can someone advise me? Thanks
- Caller: Marvel and associates
- Good Grief replies to delano26| 2 repliesYou owed the money , maybe the collection tatics were not professional. Having your dad claim the payment as fraud is wrong. Your debt is now paid. Leave it at that
- Happy| 2 repliesI got a call from this number and was greeted by the nicest man I've ever talked to. The experience was breathtaking and he assisted me in paying my debt. I know that it is my debt and unlike other people, I'm not trying to dodge the collectors. I man up and pay what I owe. I had triple bypass surgery and needed the funds to cover lost wages. I defaulted, told that to the man and he helped me to settle the debt. He sent me a paid letter and everything. I feel great to be debt free and the conversation went swimmingly. I'm not sure who or what these other comments are refferring to, but I am grateful for their help and support.

- um no replies to These guys are scum bags| 1 replyThe AG closed an agency in Buffalo but it was not Marval and Associates I spoke to a woman there not 11 minutes ago.
- Victim twice over replies to RidiculousAll of you who are responding that others should pay their bills should be ashamed of yourselves because you are taking the same attitude as the callers from this Marval and Associates. I was just recently called by them and when I responded, I was threatened and told that I was being sued. When I tried to explain to them that I needed information from the original creditor, so that I could contact them regarding an identity theft/credit fraud case that I was the victim of, they were very rude and would not give me any information. They wouldn't listen to a word I said and continued to push for money, so I hung up on them. I don't really care who they are, they have NO RIGHT to speak to anyone the way they did and they should be put out of business in any case!!!

- Theresa from Ohio| 3 repliesI received a call at my mothers house today from this company. After hearing and seeing all of the recent news of the illegalities in collections I googled this phone number. I read each of the comments left and was hesitant to call them back, but did because of the anxiety it caused my mother, who is elderly and ill. Apparently, I listed my mother as a reference on a payday loan I took out a few months ago. I called and spoke to "Douglas Smith" who advised me that I owe $561.22. I told him I work in retail for low wage and am a single mother of three; therefore, took out the loan in desperation and was unable to pay it back on time. Douglas was so kind and understanding; he offered to reduce the debt (remove all interest) and break it up over a few months. He was so kind and there were no threats or name calling, which I was expecting after reading these comments. I was just honest and he was totally receptive to my plan to pay back in small payments. I asked Douglas about why so many people were upset with his company and collections in general - his response was "We understand people get in over their head and interest rates are very high. These are tough economic times, and we understand this and are not immuned to it either, both professionally and personally. If people would explain the situation and offer an arrangement to pay generally collectors will accept and work with you. Most times we are called names, hung up on or screamed at just for asking for a payment on an outstanding account. Sure, there are some aggressive collectors, but we are all not like that. Many of us are good people who were raised to respect others, regardless of anything." This is an exact quote that was recorded (as advised by BudHibbs.com). My experience was very pleasant and I feel better and relieved for having called. I simply asked for no more calls to my mother and Douglas removed the number with no arguement (the number was listed as a reference so I understand why he called her). There was nothing illegal about the conversation (believe me I was anxiously waiting to get it on tape haha) and he was so helpful and even faxed me a letter stating the arrangement so I had it in writing for my records just in case.
