- lucky replies to Theresa from OhioBe glad you didn't talk to Miss Congi! Yes, there are some that are compassionate or even decent. Yes, I have debt, and am willing to pay, but not by being threatened that I am going to be prosecuted for theft by deception.
- got u replies to VICTIMyou can call them, but they are so rude that the only one talking will be the person on the other line. they will not and i repeat issue any warrant. the are not law enforcement. they are just a collection agency. they will threaten you, they are in no way shape or form in any way going to sign off on any warrant. they take your credit card number and take what they want. if you can remember who the loan was with call them direct. DO NOT PAY THEM.THEY CAN NOT PUT YOU IN JAIL. first of all it a civil matter not a criminal matter. they get their jollies on threats. and the attorneys name they use, is from an attorney that sold his name for them to use. or just is just a scum like the scum that calls
- got u replies to victimi had them checked out. their practice is illegal. they are a collection agency and that is it. i am trying to find their lic. to see if it is legal for them to do collections. THEIR WAY OF COLLECTIONS IS ILLEGAL. they can not put you in jail. they do believe that they are above law, because the law in our country does not always work.
- got u replies to M&Jand did they come and arrest him? the people that should be contacted should be the payday loan companies that contract them. the payday companies know what is going on. if they still allow this collection agency to break the law in their name thay should always be put out of business
- got u replies to jonhoh you disrespect him. wow coming from you that means NOTHING. since you are thief. worse then the ones in jail. younwould steal from your own mother, working for marvel means so much to everyone. how do you face your family everyday, and tell the what a low life you are. mr i can not respect myself jerk
- Mckenzie replies to jonhAre you joking? I use to work for one of these loan companies. I know how they operate. They are sharks praying on those who are already in trouble. It’s a joke most of these loans end up going to collections and the company gets more money anyway you should be ashamed for supporting s thief’s!!! What’s wrong with you I despise people like you!
- KMy Friend has received the same kind of messages saying they'll be arrested and there is a civil complaint being filed against them. They’re just trying to scare the money out of people. I believe you should take care of your debt but allot of people are in over their heads right now and do not need to be pushed in to a corner by some collection agency who thinks their above the law. I would contact an attorney if these people call you.

- leave me aloneA few weeks ago, I got a call from a gentlemen from the office of Marvel & Associates who advised my son (a minor) when he answered that he was a investigator and that if I didn't call him back by 9:30pm he was gonna issue a warrant for my arrest and have me sent to jail for fraud. My son was all freaked out about me possibly going to jail. He does not remember the guys name at all. I tried to look up the number that showed on my caller id which was in the name of VSPAN 716-923-7408. I couldn't find anything on that. Got several calls at work and at home from a Susan Sharp of Marvel & Associates....I was told that I am under investigation of a civil complaint being filed against me in my county. I was told that I have 24 hrs to contact Ms. Sharp or else she was gonna turn my file over to her attorneys and tell them to "sue" me. Ms Sharp's direct ext was 110 and when she called again, it was 108 and now it's back to ext 110. I then started getting automated calls telling me to call the 877-251-0491 number back regarding an urgent matter. I was getting these both at work and at home. I have yet to call them back but I am sick of her calling my job all the time leaving messages. I'm considering calling her back today...I'm not one to tolerate rudeness....not sure I really want to go there with them....but we will see what she has to say....

- karenlgI just started receiving phone calls from Sarah (I believe) yesterday. I figured it was a scam when she left a message saying she needed to talk to me about a case from my county. I googled the phone number and came to this forum. When she calls back and I am going to hit her with all the information I just read here, regarding the lack of business license, etc. I assume this is in regards to CashNet, which I did pay back!

- Who are they kidding??| 1 replyI was harrassed by the same company, Marval and Associates. They purchased my loan debt from the payday loan company, even though I was making payments to the original company. They called stating they were investigators, with sherriff's en route to my job to arrest me for multiple fraud charges (which they made sure to mention to the co-worker who answered the phone), but MAYBE they could call them off before they arrived if I could commit to a payment plan. I set up a plan with my account information, with a pay date scheduled for the following Friday (this was on a Tuesday). The very next day they charged my account, which sent it into overdraft since the funds weren't in the account yet. I called the company and they said they were having "computer errors" which caused the billings to get charged early, but not to worry, because they would reinstate for the overdraft fees. After that the associate would no longer take my calls. About a week later, mysterious charges started appearing on my statement. They were never a large amount ($8-20), and the only description was "Check xx", where the x's were random numbers. I ignored the first couple, thinking my girlfriend was using the account, or I forgot about a purchase I made. During this time, Marval called once again (same associate) and asked why I had defaulted on my first payment. I reminded him of their so-called server issues (of which he had magically forgotten), and asked for written documentation of who their company was, where the debt originated from, and the debt amounts. He was immediately enraged, screaming that he wasn't a debt collector (he was literally screaming, and although "damn" was his strongest word, it was still unnerving), that he didn't have to provide any information on who he was, and that the sherriff's were coming to arrest me as we spoke (even though he did not even have the address where I worked), at which point he slammed down the phone. I have since filed a complaint with the FCC, and just today received another phone call from a different associate, whom I'm sure will be just as pleasant as the last. You will be happy to know that this company is on multiple watch dog sites, and are being investigated from numerous complaints to the FCC. One last little piece of humor: when I mentioned to the associate the second time he called that I had seen some negative reviews on the internet regarding his company, and that was why I was requesting the information, his only response was "Everyone's company has negative reviews! I'm sure if I Google'd your company, I'd find all kinds of stuff!" These guys are great.

- meI think the best thing to do would be this: be strong, and STAY ON THE PHONE AS LONG AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN without giving them any vital information! This costs them time which costs them money. The key would be to act a little scared so they think they might have one over on you. String them along, but never give them your credit card, bank acct info, TRY TO GET THEIR ADDRESS and post it to this site! Again, keep them on the phone as long as possible. If we could double the time we're on the phone with them (when they are not getting paid) then they will make 1/2 the money. These collectors work on commission and if you act like you're not going to pay, they will hang up on you and go to someone else they can intimidate. Make a game of it! Maybe even act like your looking for your credit card but can't find it, "oh is that it?, oh sorry, that was my library card, hold on there it is, no, sorry," so on and so on.

- Called me also!!!I also received a phone call this morning at work. Had them go to my voicemail. A gentleman by the name of "Matthew at ext. 116" left me a message that it was very important to call him back in regards to a serious matter. He said he was turning over prosecution documents tomorrow at noon in my county. And that if I didnt want them to come to my place of employment to contact them. Don't they have anything else to do? Obviously not!! I will call him back later today just to hear what he has to tell me.

- Julie| 9 repliesGot a call. They said I was being investigated for "Malicious intent to defraud a financial institution". I explained that I closed my checking account due to an ex-husband and that I had contacted the payday loan company to tell them. I made arrangements with the company and unfortunately could not keep the arrangements. Long story short. I gave them an electronic check that they were going to show as being paid on the 30th. I REPEATEDLY told them that funds would not be in my account until Oct. 2nd so I wanted to make sure that they would not be attempting to withdraw the funds prior to that time. The rep (Suzanne Sharpe is the alias she used) said that it would not and assured me it would not. I had an emergency come up that night and knew that the funds may not be there on the 2nd so I called immediately the next day to tell her and arrange an alternate payment. She said there was nothing she could do. I said that the funds would not be there and there had to be something we could arrange. She proceeded to get really snotty and said, the check will not clear your bank until the 2nd. I argued and said she could not guarantee that, she proceeded to get nasty and said it was my problem and that she writes checks all the time and she knows for a fact that it won't be presented to the bank until the 2nd.
I scrambled to find the extra money to get into my bank so it would be in there on the 2nd….when I went to the bank, *big surprise* my account was overdrawn (note…it is NOT the 2nd) and the amount that they tried to deposit WAS NOT the amount I authorized.
Lessons learned:
1) I know better. I know not to date a check if the money isn't there yet. Don't know why I believe her. I take responsibility for being a fool.
2) Go directly to the institution you had the debt with. They will take your payment, the collection agency just doesn't get their 'cut'
3) If you try to stop payment on the check, you must know exactly how much it was for and who it was coming from. The bank told me that these people often change the amount ( a little lower) because they know this. - call the copsAmherst Police Dept 500 John James Audubon Amherst NY 14228 716.689.1333

http://www.oag.state.ny.us/bureaus/consumer_frauds/contact.html - MichThey have left a so called Docket #, they represent themselves as investagators. I checked with my local courthouse nothing on file. I still have not gotten anything in the mail from them. All they do is call haven't received no one thing in the mail. I called the original debtor and they no longer do installment loans which was First Bank of Delaware so the lady had no information to give me. I have read to deal with the original debtor not the collection agency cause they may not go towards what you owe. I want to take care of this but I am not going to pay to a collection agency just because they say so. What do you do?

It specifically names Marval and Associates.
If you really want to pay off your debt, don't deal with these people or any other collection agency. Call the company directly that you owe the money to and arrange payments or a pay schedule with them. I have never had anyone refuse to take my money.- Caller: Marval and Associates
