- curiousI was just called on my cell... heard what was a beep like a fax, another noise, then disconneted. I called the number on my land line and they answered Global Credit. I asked why they called (thought I missed a call) and they asked for a name. I made the mistake of confirming my cell number... got another call. Called back on land line, got VM, left message... called again, got same guy who asked if "Harold" was at this number... told him no and if fact gave me a different name the first time and that this was shadey and I'm going to gov CRTC with this complaint... he told me the call was being recorded what was fine with me and that I wanted a copy... he hung up.

- Tamara| 6 repliesThey have ben harassing me daily for months from several 1877 numbers. They have drained my cell phone account of over $1000.00 from incessant calling. I went to their website and sent them the following email (and the calls have not stopped so I am filing a lawsuit against this company):
Hello, I am registered with the National and Canadian DO NOT CALL list. Remove my number from your list I do NOT have any debts with any companies for you to collect. If my number is not removed from your list immediately I will sue your company for the over $1000.00 it has drained from my cell phone account in less than 2 months. I have phone records with your companies number and name on them to prove it was this company who harassed and stole from me. I am a single mother of 3 children, with a lawyer on standby to file a lawsuit which will include additional charges immediately, and I will not allow your company to continue to drain our financial resources. My phone number is [removed]. Remove it from your list NOW!- Caller: Global Collect

- Jake| 1 replySince January these S.O.B have been calling, first it started with a recorded message telling you that you are being transferred and you end up in the Global Credit voice PBX general voice mail. Now this is the recording part, then they have another recording telling you that they are connecting the call and voila you have one of those insignificant slave that tries to get information from you, I immediately suspect them as they had my name wrong right from the start, and I have a very long name and they couldn't name a quarter of it. So I asked whom was calling, and she said her name but so fast that you have to be superman man to understand what she said. Normal household do not use PBX to call others, unless you're a techie like I am, so I asked what company they were calling from.
- Sorry sir we cannot give you that information.
- Okay what are you calling about then?
- We need to confirm your identity before giving you any details.
- Alright lady listen carefully, first you call from a toll free number, doesn't want to provide your company name and over that you can make up any name you want and say it as fast as you want and you expect me to give you personal details to some Mickey mouse company calling. You must really take people for idiots. Furthermore dear I am not giving you any detail, you're the one calling, therefore the rule is that you are the one to provide your identity. Now you're just wasting your time...
- Can I confirm your information
- No but hear this, you are using a phone system, PBX with automatic dialer... you're located in Mississauga and your Internet provider is... your system is a VOIP and I happens to have few friends working in different network.

- Know Your Rights! This number called me 3 months ago and I advised them that I am not the person they are looking for as I am a girl and they are looking for a George, clearly a man. They said sorry and that they would take my number off the list. Of course that we a lie as I received an other call yesterday again looking for George. This lady asked me if I knew George and had a number for him. I said no as I don't know any George than I asked who she is and where she is calling from. She didn't want to tell me. I had to look up the number to find that Ms. Fergusson is from Global Credit, a collection agency. Working in the finance industry and having taking law courses I know my rights and thought I would share my knowledge with you in hopes that it will help you. There is something called the Canadian Collections Act and the Ontario Limitations Act. Both of these are in place to protect the consumers and if any collection angecy does not follow these acts and you can provide the written proof than it is your right to post a formal complaint against them with the Consumers Protection Branch and they may lose their license. Also always ask if they are a licensed agency. Never pay in cash, or personal cheque. Use a money order as you can track it and you are not giving them any personal banking information. Kepp in mind that when agents are pushing to have the money in before a certain date it is only because they want to meet their quota and get a bigger commission. If you cannot afford the full amount up front make a payment arrangement and stick to it as outstanding debt can harm your credit history. Any bad debt remains on your credit history for 6-7 years once its sent to 3rd party collections. I hope you find this helpful. Best of luck.

- LogansMommy0223They called me on my cell phone and left a message saying that I had some equipment that needed returning. Since I know I don't have any company's equipment in my name, I was suspicious (I use to have cable in my name, but I returned the cable boxes when I cancelled it. We just recently got cable boxes again, but in my husband's name - and so recently, that we haven't gotten the first bill, yet. And then we both have cell phones that we own, but I'm not behind in my bill anyway).
When I called back, the guy who answered (who was talking barely above a whisper that I had to ask 3 times for him to repeat the name of the company and I still never fully heard him - but it was Global Credit) wouldn't even tell me on what company's behalf he was calling or what supposed "equipment" I had that needed to be returned. He said I had to give him all of my information first (I had given my name and phone number, but I refused to give my address or anything more) to "verify he was speaking with the right person". I said I wasn't giving that until I know who I'm calling in case it's a scam, to which he replied "this isn't a scam" (but would a scammer say anything different?). I told him that I'm gonna call any company with whom I have bills in my name directly and get the info from them, then I hung up.
I know that I'm not behind on any of my bills, either ones in my name or my husband's. And I definitely don't have any equipment that doesn't need to be returned. I think it doesn't sound entirely on the up and up.- Caller: Global Credit

- Shannonthey have been calling me for months now telling me "this isn't a sollicitation call" but that they have an important business matter to discuss.. then it goes to an answering machine. Today i got another call telling me they have been trying repeatedly to reach me with no success and I am to call them back immediately or risk further trouble. Still no mention of WHO it was in any of these messages I've been transfered too.. this time I called back wanting to know WHO i was talking to.. it went to a voicemail AGAIN that was "full" and all it said was you have reached "global". and then a blurb about the voicemail being full but that i could hang up and try again.. WTF. I'm also on the DO NOT CALL list! this is bordering on harrassment. I've added them to my phone's "block" list hopefully that stops the calls. If they start calling from a different number I will be taking further action.
