- Payyourdebt| 1 replyI do not not like debt collectors, but if you used the card, pay the debt. Plain and simple. That is like working and then not getting paid for it. If your work said, well I can only pay you half, would you accept it? They continue to call our number for someone else and it is so freaking annoying

- LB| 1 replyI have been getting calls from this number non-stop for the last couple weeks. I have never had any dealings with Advanta. Do they represent anyone else?

- Phantom Deb replies to ?"You won't be sued" ... well, that's all I needed to hear. The rest is just Charlie Brown's teacher going "Blaah Blaah ... blaah BLAAH blaah blaah blaah."
Oh, and the part about the debtors being partially at fault. So what? - jeanthis is scam outfit and do not answer SCAM SCAM SCAM
- ANNOYEDPLEASE STOP CALLING MY PHONE ..YOU CALL AND NEVER LEAVE A MESSAGE. YOU CALL OVER 24 TIMES IN ONE DAY.

- Caller: Cardworks
- Phantom Debtor| 2 repliesUnless you can pursue an FDCPA action (yes for you Merrick folks, no for you Advanta debtors), the best way to destroy Carson Smithfield would be to talk to their reps, but not with a view toward settling or anything, just have long, unproductive conversations that go in circles and use up their reps' time that could otherwise be devoted to actually collecting money. Enough of that and the whole firm goes bust.
And that goes for every other collection agency too.
For you Merrick folks, look into the finer points of the FDCPA, or find a NACA attorney who is willing to go after them for you.- Caller: Carson Smithfield, LLC

- tom kosterman replies to Brendathey did the same to me and I tryed to work with them to no avail (this kind of activity is now illegal)............i blew them off and told them to screw off. since then they went into recieveersip because their non-payment rate went from 18 to 65%. Gee, I wonder why? you are better off paying nothing and defending your self.
- Annoyed| 1 replyThese people continue to call my home up to 5 times a day for someone who does not live here nor have we ever heard of the person. We've received so many calls I'm attempted to change my number. I've repeatedly told them who lives here, not to call again, and still they call. How can I get this to stop?!?!?!?!?

- Jan replies to GoodguyWhat was the amount of your original debt with them?
- Jan replies to GoodguyWhat was the original amount you owed them that settled for $5500 over 36 months?
- Phantom Debtor replies to AnnoyedFile an FDCPA lawsuit and make some money. Even Whataburger is doing it! http://www.chron.com/business/article/Court-c ... -it-3811325.php
More lawsuits, fewer surviving collectors! - Not Me| 1 replyI receive calls from this number at least 4+times a day. I have not answered their calls so they went one further and sent me a settlement letter on a credit card that I had back in 94 and was discharged through a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy in 1997. I think they are getting old debts that are pass the Statue hoping someone will respond and then they got you because they will make money and put it back on your credit report causing a negative on your report even if you have worked to re-establish your credit. For me if they keep calling and harassing me I will be reporting them to the Attorney General in my State and to the FTC. The Card was not Advanta but First Premier.

- JohnThey have now call twice at my work..Have no idea why..Hang up on them.
- Tired Of Credit Card Harrassment replies to ?NO! You are wrong, at least partly. MY balance transfer was for the LIFE of the transfer. I also had a LIFEtime transfer with Bank Of America. They did the same thing, jacked the interest rates. I do understand some promotional rates are limited. I DO read the fine print.
When you make a promise, STICK TO IT! These card companies and banks for the most part don't give a rats @SS about anyone but themselves. CEO's and fat cats at the expense of the little man. Discover has been the ONLY company that has stuck to their promise through all of this. Kudos to them. - Baby Jay| 1 replyThey call several times a day, just when I turn on my cell or when I receive a legit phone call. I think they are using fraudulent monitoring techniques. They never leave a message.
- KellCollections form Advanta.....when Advanta went under...THEY closed my account that was in good standing...until they decided to close, I did not receive any bills from them during this time...2 months...then I get the letter stating they were no longer in business...and NOW my account is 2 months past due and my rate went from 7.99% to 34.99% because of non payment....This was in 2010 I believe....They wanted 100% payment...not happening....then did reduce to 50%...which I did not do either.....no further calls for about 16 months....now...minimum of 5 per day...everyday...I am keeping track...which I believe would count as harassment. Because of their way of doing business...or should I say closing...they mad a huge hit on my credit report....damage was done...so....they can just wait for payment...or non payment as I am filing bankruptcy....
