- Honest Sam replies to JoeSo BB&T just lied to me and said they didn't have any idea what this number is to, but they told all of y'all it's legit. Got scam written all over it.
- tom sReal number. Bbt fraud protection line. Bbt caught unauthorized transactions from someone that got my cc info and made a duplicate card
- Caller: bbt Bank
- VLIt's legit. BB&T denied my credit card today while shopping for groceries suspecting fraud. It was me who was using it. Card was reactivated. Good to know they have our back!
- Caller: BB&T
- Belle BostonThis is a scam probably from a spoofed phone number. I have been receiving daily calls from 877-557-0506 with a digital voice announcing it's a credit card fraud company. I called my bank directly who verified this is not legitimate and probably a scam organization trying to get your bank information. If you Google BB&T, they have a completely different phone number. These posters who are claiming this is a real company are probably shills.
- Caller: Unknown Scam Company
- Call type: Telemarketer
- ACThis is BB&T's debit card fraud protection number. It's legit. They called me just now to verify or deny an online transaction I'd made today. (Which I had.) Nope, I'm not a shill, "Belle Boston". If you Google BB&T, you'll see several numbers for them, not just one. *You* may not bank with BB&T, but I do.
- Caller: BB&T
- BunnyfAgree with all who say don't give out any info over the phone, you never really know who's calling. You should call your bank or # on the back of your card. However, this did turn out to be BBT (or as someone else said, who doesn't have a BBT acct, it may be a call center that handles more than one bank). Someone did, in fact charge my debit card with 2 smaller charges, one for Mc Donald's and one for a liquor store. The charges were from out of state, so it alerted BBT of possible fraud, then whoever it was, they tried to make two large purchases and were denied. So do follow up on this call, but it is wise to make a call yourself, rather than answer any questions from someone calling you.
- Caller: BBT
- Clyde replies to Shill AlertYou're an idiot - it IS B&T Fraud protection, They protect their customers!
- PEGGYthis is a valid number for BB &T and if you listen to the msg and write down the case ID number and then call them back and punch in the number and ask three easy yet odd questions about you/account they will tell you this is reference to your debit card with them. Earlier this day I made an overseas' purchase for 4.95 using my card and they were verifying it for fraud.
good to be cautious = but don't NOT call them back or your purchase will be denied and you'll have to rebuy it.- Caller: bb & t
- steve hamits the real deal/////////// bbt bank//////////so the person who said its not real///////////////can BLOW ME////////yes i said BLOW ME///////////im here all week on the AIR/////////so there it is
regards capt BLOW ME- Caller: bank bbt
- HollywoodI screen calls from numbers I don't know and I just wanted to verify that most of the claims here are true. I tried to purchase a PC game less than an hour ago from a company that is based outside of the US but makes the game available to purchase through several different methods. The first attempt failed, so I bought it through steam instead. BB&T was simply calling to verify that I attempted a transaction through Switzerland and then completed a 2nd transaction for the same price on steam minutes later. This number is G2G.
- Caller: Branch Banking and Trust (BB&T)
- /KBIt is BB&T fraud protection. A few months back I got a call from them and they made sure that my purchase out of the country was legit. I've been spending a lot the last few days and they called me again. I didn't recognize the number, but checking back here again, and calling them back, it is definitely legitimate.
- Caller: BBT
- Tracie replies to jane| 3 repliesI called BB&T after getting a call from this number and they said it was NOT them and they wouldn't make a call like that and it IS probably a scam not to give them any information. So whoever you are on here posting it is BBT and ligjt you just got busted.
- MidNYteStorm| 5 repliesSaying they are BB&T doesn't make them BB&T. Far too many bogus operations spoof their numbers in an effort to trick people. If I received a call like this, I would contact a number listed on the company website and not the number displayed on caller id. It is not worth taking a chance.
- Tamlyn steeleThis is definitely not BB&T!! I had this call today and phoned my local branch. They don't have a record of this phone number and there were no problems with my transaction! DO NOT call this number back or give them any of your details
- richardI called this number because the message was from the electronic voice which BBT uses. However the machine voice I was transferred to tried to get me to register for a trip, and then told me I won a cruise, but to get my credit card so I could 'reserve' the free trip. Obviously BBT is not in that business, and someone is doing a good job at pretending to be BBT.
- AltonThis is a scam I called the bank and they said do not give information over the phone to them when I called it and talked to the operator she asked for card number I told her no and I was reporting the number she hung up so don't give them no info
- Caller: Bb&t
- Lynn replies to Shill Alert| 1 replyI'm legit and according to BB&T it is their fraud department and that many times the banks don't know the fraud number. They have saved my hubby's account numerous times from a guy that lives somewhere up north. So those saying it's not them - you are wrong
- MarieIt is BB&T Fraud department, and it is legit. You can call them directly at 800-BANK-BBT and select the fraud option.
- Caller: BB&T
- IrkedThis is legitimately BB&T Fraud Department. They left me a voice message with return phone number and gave me a case number. I returned the call and verified some basic information. They DID NOT ask me for my bank card number. They did know of transactions I had made earlier in the day. They also informed me of a transaction I did NOT make and that they declined. Thankfully, the unauthorized transaction was flagged by BB&T.
- Caller: BB&T Bank Fraud Department
- KLBrown replies to MidNYteStorm| 1 replyI have received two telephone calls today from 1-877-557-0506, and both times there was no message left. Those who are claiming that this a legitimate call from BB&T fraud monitoring service are obviously a part of a scam operation to get personal information from people that they call. My caller ID says "800 Service." In all the years that I have been dealing with BB&T bank, this is not the way that they do business. Every time that I have received a legitimate call from BB&T, the caller has ALWAYS identified themselves and stated the fact that they are calling from BB&T bank with a message for me by name and a legitimate telephone number to call.
Furthermore, I have received telephone calls from BB&T fraud monitoring service in the past, and the caller has ALWAYS identified as being the actual bank fraud service, gave me a legitimate number to call back, and also gave me the available hours. Case in point, during a trip to Utah a couple of years ago, I got a call from the BB&T fraud monitoring service because the bank had frozen my card until I verified purchases that were made in Utah. Once I called them back and verified that the purchases were made by me, my card was back in service.
BE SMART and NEVER call back an 800 service number and give them any information. Obviously the those involved involved in the fraudulent operation of trying to make people believe that they are representing BB&T have phished telephone numbers to make everything appear to be legitimate. Do yourself a favor and either call the bank directly or visit your local branch in person if you suspect any problems with your account. Be safe out there!
