Got called by this "fraud department" but knew it was a scam because credit card companies don't outsource to third party companies to monitor everyone's spending.
My card is through my bank and I know fully well, that a third party company doesn't have the authority to issue a new card. If you have a visa, only visa can authorize a new card. If you have mastercard, only mastercard can send you a new one.
If they offer to send you a new card it's a trap.

Constant calling

People say it is from BBT fraud.  I checked my accounts and they show no fraud.  If you are in doubt, call your local branch, not a toll free number.  If something is wrong, the local branch will help you or direct your call to someone who can help.

I have received two phone calls from this number over the last couple years. It is a legitimate number for BBT Debit Card Monitoring. Both times they were just checking to make sure that suspicious transactions were actually ours. One of them was fraudulent and one of them was not. We were glad that BBT appears to be looking out for their customers. Do not waste any time calling them back at this number.

Someone has your BBandT bank card info and is using it.  Call them back now.

I've gotten a couple of calls from this number, so I called the local branch and made sure everything was okay.  I checked the account online and THERE ARE NO FRAUDULENT CHARGES!! Then I get an official looking letter that wants me to call the 877 number and give them personal information.  Whenever I google "BBT Fruad Reporting" I get the 800 number.  This 877 number only shows up on websites that report scams.  I'm taking the letter to my local branch tonight.  ALWAYS DEAL WITH THE LOCAL BRANCH.

This is a scam.  I called BB&T to check if this was a legitimate number.  NOPE!  DO NOT answer and DO NOT give any personal info.  This came on my cell phone and they don't even have my cell phone number!

Don't take a call from this or any other number on pure faith.  Never give your card number to someone that calls YOU!  If it's a legit call they'll have all of your info. Also,  a savvy scammer can spoof phone numbers so that your caller ID will show whatever number they want it to.  If you have any suspicion whatsoever hang up and call your local branch.

So, I got called by this number and my Advanced Caller ID App blocked it.  They left a similar message that everyone else has received, but there's a big problem with all of this.  I Don't Have A BB&T Account!  Yeah, it's kinda hard to check an account that you don't even have.  SMH

I am retracting my post.  This is (indeed) BB&T.  I remembered that I share an account with my daughter.  I am glad that they called, now!

Right. You knew who called you but came to a phone number look-up site anyway?
Besides, even if this is a BB&T phone number it doesn't mean every call is from them. Scammers spoof legitimate numbers all the time.  Best to not give any information but instead hang up and call a known number for them, such as the one on the back of your card.
